Dungeons & Dragons Ghosts of Saltmarsh Adventure System Board Game Standard Edition
Ghosts of Saltmarsh is an expansion for any standalone title in the Dungeons & Dragons Adventure System board game series, and it features new adventures, map tiles, monsters, traps, and spells. To use this expansion, select your favorite heroes from one of the existing games, then dive into this new campaign! The King of Keoland, after unsuccessful expansion to the north, has turned his eyes southward, to Saltmarsh, with the intention of turning this village into an important port to increase the stature of his kingdom but not everyone in the village is happy about the new developments, and old enemies fight for control, unaware of a new enemy about to rear its ugly head. You come through the town gates and cross Sharkfin Bridge to the screams of townsfolk and the unmistakable sounds of fighting. You do not know the situation but you are sure you are needed. Return to the classic gameplay of the D&D Adventure System, with some exciting new changes! You'll still take on the role of a D&D hero, with thematic skills and abilities, either on your own or as a group of up to five adventurers. You'll face multiple scenarios in an overarching campaign, evolving and leveling up your character on the way. You'll explore treacherous dungeons, avoid deadly traps, and defeat terrifying monsters. You can also play your favorite scenarios on their own as a standalone experience!

Ghosts of Saltmarsh is an expansion for Wizards of the Coast's adventure series of board games, and it's the first of its kind. Rather than a stand-alone game, this is a literal expansion, reliant on one of the other games to provide essentials such as player characters and in-depth rules...and even some of the monsters. This latter gave me the most concern when I ordered the box, but after scanning the rules booklet, I realized that this was no timid, half-measured attempt at creating a new supplement with a minimum of expense. This game rewards long-time players by digging deep into the creatures that came with virtually all of prior sets, and allowing the full range of player characters to adventure through Saltmarsh as heroes. Folks who do not have every set are not punished, because options exist for any creatures that can't come to the table, but WoTC didn't let themselves get bogged down with concerns about who might not have what. This expansion shoots for the stars, but accounts for every light year between here and there.

This Expansion is very good and interesting for playing with any stand alone D&D Adventure System Board Game. However the price is too high as for just an expansion.

I have not played this expansion, yet, but decided to pick it up on sale. If you are expecting something comparable to previous Adventure System games, you will be disappointed in the number of miniatures in this box. Buyer beware. But, if you can get it on sale, it is not much more expensive than the Sahuagin Warband set and you will get the same painted minis plus the game.

Another great Cooperative Expansion the components are very nice. If you want to use miniatures for everything you will need to obtain a few extra seguhins, 6 guards, a captain of the guard type figure, a female dwarf, and a good handful of townsfolk. None of which are in any of the 6 previous games—OK maybe the Dwarf…
A solid expansion to an already fun game. The base Adventure System is a pared down version of 4e, and this expansion adds some 5e flair while still keeping the game simple. The underground cave and town tiles are fantastic for regular D&D use as well. Plus you get a bunch of unpainted Sahuagin minis, which are harder to find on their own. Great value on multiple levels.
I am very excited to add more replayability to the Dungeons and Dragons board game system. All the other expansions and games have been great. So is this one.
