I am very fussy about plectrums, but these little bad boys are the business. They are super sticky! No chance you will drop one of these. They are very small, which might not suit everyone, probably not a strummers type of tool, but for jazzers and speedy pickers they are superb. I have used Ultex jazz III for years which are the same size and mass but a completely different material and feel. Will they replace them? Not sure yet but I really do like them, well worth a punt to try them out.

Had I not received a pack of chickenpick badazz iii's and Dunlop primetone jazz iii's (with grip texture), I may well have declared these the best I've used overall thru my pick experimentation. My main criteria was finding a pick that would stay put and not turn out from the strings as I played. These do not disappoint.I prefer them in use and feel to nylon or tortex jazz iii's but find they lack clarity when compared to ultex and whatever chickenpicks are using. They sound ever so slightly wooly, slightly dull in comparison to ultex, without the clear "bell like" response. But this is only relative. It's a tiny difference at best.Super accurate though, and slightly warmer.Had I not received the 2 other picks mentioned, I'd have given them a 5 star rating.

Since I discovered these, I never use any other pick. They're great for when you want to do some lead guitar playing and need a faster pick. Pinch harmonics are very easy with this pick. This pick is the perfect thickness & doesn't wear out too fast. The carbon fiber infused material is tough but yet easy on your strings at the same time. The max grip texture assures that you're not going to drop this pick & you don't need to add any other gripping material to the picks. I keep some of these picks handy everywhere I go!

I have been looking for a pick that doesn't move around when you use it. Tried all kinds of picks and used ones with grips but they all seem to move around and turn when picking fast. Well if your like me and you need your pick not to move when your playing very fast this is the pick for you. I had a very similar idea that would allow me to use a pick that didn't move but it looked ugly when I dived the pick up. This pick looks good feels good in your hands and it gets the job done. I'm throwing away all my other picks and I will order more of these. This is the best pick I have cake across.
These are the picks I've consistently been going back to for years. Their tone is on the darker side and it has a bit less articulation than a normal Jazz III, and much less than my preferred thick, sharp acrylic picks, but the grip on these is absolutely unmatched. There's no pick I'd rather use in a live setting. If I'm just sitting at home noodling, I'll go through my collection of different picks for fun, but no other pick gives me the security that this pick does. However, if this grip style were an option on a harder plastic, I would probably switch to that instead.
These picks are absolutely remarkable. I play on a Martin DX1AE dreadnought style guitar at bluegrass jams most every week and month. I almost always have folks commenting on the great tone of these picks on my guitar and theirs as well when I loan them out. These picks are not the thickest yet they do not bend, meaning you will likely have increased speed and a sharp sound when picking with the very tip of it, as well as a nice fat rhythm when you get to strumming and using a bit more of your pick. These picks are much smaller than what many musicians are used to and therefore take some getting used to. However, even if you do have large or bigger hands than what is considered "average" the grip on these picks will still give you a solid feel. These picks take a very long time to loose their gripping abilities from wear or sweat. Even after a constant four hour or longer hot outdoor jam these picks stay firmly in place without me having to place a death grip on them. I have tried many picks from Tortex material picks to nylon Clayton picks and other brands and materials from Dunlop as well and they just didn't produce the tone or comfort I was seeking. Heck, I've even gone ahead and spent 40 dollars on small company custom made three pack picks that still lack the sound these little Jazzers have. For [$] for a pack of six and [$] for a pack of 24 you are not likely to find a better value in picks or material than these if you are a working class musician like me. Additionally, the size and feel of these picks are wonderful for mandolin playing as well, bringing out the fantastic sharp clarity, chirps, and chops mandos are known for. Go ahead and stock up on these or just try one pack. For [$], even if you don't appreciate them as much as myself or other players, at least you didn't break the bank in the process. Happy pickin'!
The max-grip feature could be really useful but I've never had a problem dropping picks, it feels ergonomic to me but not beneficial. The raised logo of the standard Jazz III picks feels every bit as solid and secure as these, maybe even more so.As far as tone goes, to me, carbon fiber has more bass than nylon with less brittle highs. I find that Ultex has a more throaty sound with more open lows and more crisp highs but not as much overall bass as carbon fiber. If you're not used to holding picks right at the tip, or you strum a lot, you may have trouble with "U.S.A." and "Jazz III" grabbing at your strings. The most notable part about these is durability because they last a very long time, even longer than Ultex. I prefer Ultex Jazz III and Ultex Sharp picks because Ultex bounces off the string like no other material and it's super smooth making it effortless for playing fast. This carbon fiber has a great release too but none of "bouncy" quality I've grown fond of.If you have trouble dropping picks and you use Jazz picks you can't not try these!
Aggressive picker, meet aggressive pick. This pick is the usual jazz 3 thickness, but the stiffness is ridiculous. It feels like there is zero give and the strings are literally getting out of your way to avoid being struck.Even though it says "carbon fiber", it's actually a nylon pick that has been mixed with a carbon additive. It has incredible grip though, no nylon pick -ever- felt like this before to me.There is also no 'cluck' noise from the pick hitting the strings, it's actually pretty neutral sounding.Definitely worth checking out.
I've been playing for 35 years, the Dunlop Jazz III picks are without a doubt the best picks ever designed. Then, take that one step further and make them out of carbon fiber, OMG!!! I have not been asked to do this and I'm not endorsed in anyway, this is my true opinion. If you shred, sweep pick, play metal or any style requiring fast picking, you will not find an easier pick to do it with. Pros - Improves speed, accuracy, incredible feel, excellent grip, last a really long time, excellent tone Cons- none that I can come up with
Lemme start by mentioning that I started out with the red nylon jazz III back in 2010 when I was a teenager. In 2011 Jim Dunlop had a contest going on where you could win a 24 pack of any kind of picks they made. You had to write an essay basically about your favorite Dunlop artist. I wrote about Mick Thomson and his use of Jazz III picks(this was around the time Dunlop developed the Jazz III carbon fiber max-grips).I ended up being one of the winning participants and was contacted via email by a guy at the factory. They had just come out with the max grips so they were out of stock. So these awesome people sent me a 24 pack as soon as they made a fresh batch. This is the best pick I've used over the years and I've stuck with it for ten years now. I've never worn one down, only lost them or gave some away to friends to show them the magic. If you haven't used any kind of Jazz III then it's worth mentioning that they are smaller than traditional picks, but they feel comfortable pretty quick when you're first transitioning to using them.
