Amazing price. So far they couldn't be better!

I am not sure what to say about treat life, since I have maybe 150 miles on the tires. But they feel great on my vintage 1985 Kawasaki LTD 454. I was expecting very little grip, but they feel solid so far. I didn't realize how much the deterioration of the previous tires (Perelli Super Venom) was affecting the handling. This bike is never going to handle well (not enough weight in the front tire, to much flex and bounce in the rear suspension) but its doing much better with D404s front and back than it was with just the D404s in the rear.Anyone who has researched these tires will see that they are NOT designed for heavy bikes. I suspect that allows Dunlop to optimize them for mid-weight bikes where they can be compliant and semi-sticky without having to suffer ... MoreI am not sure what to say about treat life, since I have maybe 150 miles on the tires. I was actually considering getting the equivalent Shinko tire (they have one that is almost an exact copy of this design) but there was no point. The Dunlap ended up being cheaper. I had also considered getting another "sport tire" as the previous owner of this bike had done. There was definitely no need for that. I would have been throwing away cash for no benefit given the nature of the bike. this was definitely the right tire. And the price was just spectacular. So I guess I can see the point that of the question about the manufacturing date. I see absolutely no evidence that these are not new tires. I don't know why the price was so great, but they are exactly as advertised. Great tires. Thanks RevZilla!

Beaten up but works great.

Great tire but was shipped exposed. It was pretty scuffed up when I received it. I'm replacing my current D404. The previous one lasted almost 2000 miles, mounted on the rear of a hard tail. My front still has a-lot of tread. It may last another 2k. It's also a D404.

Classic looks and good performance.

This is not my first Dunlop D404 tire. I've put these tires on several other older Honda and Yamaha motorcycles. The performance of this tire matches what these older machines require. They look good and wear as well as what came stock on them. The D404's come in a large variety of sizes both in width and rim diameter.

Decent tire, decent price
18 June 2019

The D404 tread pattern is pretty iconic, it's been OE fitment on all sorts of cruisers for years, although it's getting a little dated at this point. I recently ran one on the front of my Valkyrie, it's one of only about 5 tires available in the somewhat odd size it takes.Overall it was a pretty so-so. I have about 11k on it, and the tread is pretty thin (probably wouldn't pass inspection) on the left side. Maybe could push them another 1-2k but handling has noticeably degraded, so time to swap out. New, performance was pretty solid. Didn't do anything unexpected, had good grip, predictable handling. However as it aged, performance and grip noticeably dropped off, particularly in the last third of it's life. Cornering started to feel wonky and nervous, tar strips and grooved pavement started tossing the bike all over the place. Even to the touch the rubber just feels like of hard and slippery, and it feels like that from the seat also. Also, after only about a year in service dry rot cracking is visible in pretty much all the rain grooves.I won't say I hated the tire, but wouldn't buy one again.

Dunlop D404 on Marauder VZ800
16 April 2023

Purchased a matching set of Dunlop tires for my 2002 Suzuki Marauder VZ800.The tires arrived in 3 days, and were relatively easy to install in my garage at home. Seated on the rims and have held pressure since!Very happy with the prompt service and quality product. Will be purchasing parts for my son’s tide as well!Thank you, Royal Distributing!- Adrian

Finally got this tire mounted and I'm back on my bike.
20 May 2023

My bike was flat out dangerous until I got this new tire. Even a little sand on pavement could have taken me down. But this new Dunlop makes it all good again. It made my bike safe again, and fun. I should have gotten a new rear tire too. It's tough to get a tire done here. There's only like 5-10 shops and most are booked all through the season it seems.

Great budget tire but will slip early turning on wet roads. BEWARE! Not enough wet grip.
12 January 2021

I put one one the front of my R1200GS A and liked it until I turned on wet roads. Wow, it was not nearly as sure-footed as the Heidenau K60 that it replaced. I bought this to ride on and to be better on the wet Seattle roads in the months I would not see dirt i.e. after Labor Day and Before Memorial Day. I heard it was great for wet roads and this might be true in a straight line (water evacuating tread) but wet traction turning is down right slippery. The four tires I've ridden on in the rain rank as follows: 1: Metzeler RoadTec01 =Outstanding 2: Bridgestone T30=very good 3: Heidenau K60=Very Good 4: Dunlop 404=slips very early in a lean.Man oh Man I wish I would have just spend the extra $200 and gotten Michelin Road 5 Trails for both front and back. Instead I saved money and got the Shinko 712 for the rear (no complaints) and the Dunoop 404 for the front and am regretting it after a slippery ride on very wet Seattle roads today and tonight (11 Jan, 2021). This budget tire will do fine for people keeping it in the far left lane when it's wet. But do yourself a favor and stay there.

Inexpensive and good tire until you turn on wet roads. Be very careful as they slide way to early.
13 November 2021

These tires are inexpensive and will server you well on dry roads. I even feel pretty confident driving on wet roads in a straight line. They seemingly channel water well. But when you turn on wet pavement, you can feel them slide much too soon. I've never felt less confident as far as wet weather grip than I have with these on the front of my R1200GSA. I'll be replacing this soon (mid Nov) with a Metzeler Road Tec 01 or Michelin 5 Trail and then rate those. Late Fall, Winter and Spring are quite wet here in the Seattle area and I'm not going to keep this tire on during these next months.

My bike came with these stock
11 December 2018

The tires were great when I got my Rebel 500 brand new. Plenty of grip for cornering. However, now that I have put some miles on them they leave a lot to be desired. The grip in wet weather was the first thing to go at about 4,000 miles. Now at a little over 5,000 miles the rear tire loses grip while cornering with almost any accelerating. This is to be expected of any tire eventually. Though it happened faster on these Donlop 404's than I was expecting. The issue here is that there are tires like the Michelin Commander II's that can offer about 3 times the mileage for like 1.5 times the price. Assuming you don't get any nails in your tires, that makes these Dunlop D404's bad bang for the buck. Especially if you don't mount and balance tires yourself.TLDR: If ... MoreThe tires were great when I got my Rebel 500 brand new. Plenty of grip for cornering. Solid tires for easy back road riding and touring.
15 February 2023

Great tires. Not high end performance but these are solid tires that are sticky enough for casual and back road riding and have lasted me 7-8k miles. Relatively cheap for what you get out of them. There are my 4th set on my W650. Have tired more expensive better performance tires but for easy riding, I keep coming back to these.
