This is worth the wait! Every time I put this in my cart it sold out before I could checkout. Normally I would have taken that as a sign that I didn’t need it but in the case I kept going back and dropped serious coin to get it. This is not a hyped up product and it really works. I will tell anyone who purchase it that there is a learning curve, especially if your hair doesn’t hold heat shaping well. My secret sauce to long lasting (3+ days) curls is this: 1. Use the smaller curling attachment taking sections based on your hair thickness, length, and volume (Ive got medium, extra long, and very dense hair and taking about 10 sections for each half of my head is perfect), (high air flow/ high heat) 10 second with heat and 15 second with the cool shot 6. Let your hair sit for at least 5 minutes once you are finished without fiddling with it and apply a light to medium hold hair spray, the longer you let your hair sit the better. Use the fly away attachment if needed with low air speed and low or no heat 7. Use your fingers or a wide to comb to incorporate your curls together. This way you still maintain distinct ringlets. If you want a more wavy look go ahead and use a brush. If you want this to last more than one day make sure you but your hair up in a bun at night and I’ve found using the olaplex hair oil is a perfect refresh of next day curls if they get frizzy.

I really like the dryer part, it works fast, and I love making a voluminous blowout with the round brush attachment and one of the other brush attachments ( I can't remember what the name.or type of brushes tney are, I need to spend more time looking at manual, because the 2 plastic brush heads look the same to me, besides one having copper brush tips, and I think one of those is for smoothing/ straightening, and one is for more of a lift/ volume). I also really like the curling barrels! I have NEVER been good at curling my hair myself for some reason and this thing just makes it sooo easy! Just pick up a section of hair with one hand and hold the barrel with the machine turned off in the other hand , placing barrel next to the hair. When you then turn the machine on the air suction just pulls your hair and gently wraps it around the barrel in a perfect curl with no effort from you other than just holding the Dyson. Or I've also liked results with wrapping strands around to make an S curl or waves.. I really like the results. I'm just not completely happy with this yet because so far I haven't figured out how to make my curls last for a long time! I need to watch YouTube or something and see if there's a trick to it I'm missing. Hopefully I can update this review to a 5 star soon, especially with the chunk of money it cost. Other than the curls not holding well,. I'm loving this, my hair dries quickly, it's feels like I'M getting less heat in general, which is always a good thing when you're trying to avoid sweating while you' get ready during a hot Texas summer , and my hair is feeling and looking better, definitely much better than the Revelon brush ( but at 10 times the price)

A Reluctant Believer

I've waited months to write this review, and the anxiety and guilt I felt when I first purchased the Dyson Airwrap is long gone. Before taking the plunge, I had been using a cheapish hair-dryer-barrel-brush tool that gave me mediocre results, until a very scary day when it didn't sound like itself and started smoking while I was styling my damp hair. That burnt smell gave me nightmares, which then led me to consider upgrading to this Dyson. And after a bunch of "just do it don't you dare do it" conversations in my head, I rationalized that I could return it if I wasn't impressed (like no big deal, relax). But with the Dyson Airwrap, I'm very close to making my hair look like I've had a salon day every time I use it, and that's because it's seriously quick and easy, and I actually enjoy our short time together. Frequently I use the soft/flex brush attachment and simply run it through my dry hair right before I leave the house or minutes before I have to be on video conference for work. And when I'm being especially fancy (like for my brother's wedding), I use the other attachments to build some body and/or waves (I have some volumizing foam for those special occasions). For reference, I've been maintaining variations of a bob all year, with the longest section being the front sides just barely grazing my shoulders. My hair is fine, but I have a lot of it, and that "effortless" look was never easy for me to achieve until now. I don't use the bigger barrel because the smaller one works best with my length and the styles I'm going for. The rounded volumizing brush wasn't my favorite attachment, but I've barely given it a chance because I'm thrilled with the results I'm already getting with the others. So if that scary day had never happened, I would've continued making eyerolls over anyone telling me this thing is worth the price tag. I still think it's too expensive, yet I can't help but love it and all the compliments I get about my hair now.

Absolute rubbish - save your 1k

I really wanted to like the air wrap - I really did. I spent ages researching and was hesitant because of the cost but finally bought one in the recent sales. I persevered for about a week and watched all of the videos. However every time I use this product, I watch in disbelief as the curls literally drop out out before my eyes. Yes my hair is wet when I start and completely dry when I finish and yes I use the cool shot. The product itself overheats continuously and shuts off, meaning you have to wait for it to cool down before using it. By then, the curls are a hot mess of birds nest. No, I’m not wrapping too much hair - I’ve had to use smaller and smaller sections and even then, it just doesn’t work. From receiving the air wrap in the mail to have the blue box damaged, and one of the brushes scratched. From trying the product time and time again, only to have my curls drop out leaving my hair horribly frizzy. To the customer service that spoke to me like I must be some sort of child that can’t wield a styling product and suggested I watch the videos – didn’t think I’d already done that? I follow the instructions to the letter, watched many influencer videos, and clearly I must be doing something wrong – but this is not the product for me. I get better results with my hairdryer and around styling brush. I will be going back to my good old hair curler and taking advantage of the 45 day return period. Just all around disappointing response from Dyson. I expect more from a company selling a 900 styling tool. I bet I get a ‘please call customer service’ response to this review. In case you missed the memo - I’ve done that already and it’s a large part of the reason this overpriced plastic hair dryer will be returned to sender for a full refund. Would I recommend this product to a friend? Nope - I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Could be better for the price

I really wanted to love it especially after all the videos I watched online; but I must admit I am disappointed and definitely think it is overpriced for the functionality. Cons: Because of the lack of extreme heat, the hairstyles just don’t hold! Normally my hair holds a style extremely well and I don’t need to use much product or top up my styling daily, however with the Dyson, I find myself using it more often than I would another heat tool, which makes me wonder whether I’m actually now applying more heat to my hair? The curling barrels are not quick to use either. I know the curls are supposed to drop out and give a more blown out look rather than a curly look but this is impossible without mousse and hairspray and as a result, it takes really long to style as you have to hold each section of hair for at least a minute. I sometimes spend 30-40 minutes doing my hair only to have it all falls out and look like a mess within an hour. This has been my biggest frustration! I feel like I am wasting time rather than saving time overall, as the same style would have taken 15 mins with my curling wand or straightener. I sometimes wash my hair at night but since this tool works best on damp hair I find that I have to style it before bed, which means I wake up with messy hair as it doesn’t hold overnight and have to start again in the morning, rather than get up and go. I also think that there are too many attachments, for example, I never need to use the firm smoothing brush and the flyaway attachment does nothing for my frizz and flyaways. It would be better if you could customise your attachments to suit your hair type. The storage box is also bulky and unnecessary. I would highly recommend trying this out at the store or borrowing a friends at least a couple of times before purchasing. While I love the technology behind it, don’t be fooled by the over marketing. It’s a good tool, but definitely could be MUCH better considering how much it costs and the innovation behind it.

I’ve had the Dyson air wrap for a year now and this is my honest full review of the product. If you're looking for a chic, luxurious hair product, this is it. The Dyson Airwrap is a well made product, which gives you the best results for any hair style you're going for. When I first used the air wrap, the air that came out of it was VERY strong. The blow drying attachment puts the air out in one place so your hair is not flying all over the place getting tangly. It allows you to blow your hair out in a natural way just like a regular blow dryer would but 10x stronger, taking less time to fully dry your hair. My mother, who has very curly hair, uses the round brush and it fully straightens her hair while getting rid of almost all of the frizz her hair has. The two brush attachments are very useful. My hair is naturally straight with a little wave to it but the brush attachments allow me to fully straighten my hair without using an iron at all. I use the blow drying attachment to blow dry my hair about 85% dry which takes me about 5 minutes total. Then I go in with the brush attachment and run it through my hair which completely straightens in within minutes and little run throughs in my hair. Between the two brush attachments, I can’t tell a huge difference on which one straightens my hair, although the one without the dots at the end of the brissels does make my hair more frizzy than the one with the dots. Now onto the Barrels! Those are what makes this THE airwrap. I’m going to be completely honest the barrels are a tad challenging to get the hang of using at first but once you learn how to use it, they give you the best volume, soft, natural curls. What I love about the barrels are that you can control how you want your hair to look. If you want a more tighter curl than you use the smaller barrels and wrap your hair around the barrel yourself. If you want a more loose voluminous curl, then use the larger barrels and let the air, wrap your hair around them itself. I also love how they give you two different directions. Personally I hate having my hair in my face and having two different directions allows me to turn my curls away from my face on both sides. I can say on the newer dyson, I love having just one barrel and not having to burn your fingers trying to switch attachments between the two barrel directions. Overall I love this product and I would recommend anyone with any hair type to get this product. I have had it for over a year and It still acts and looks just like I got it a year ago. If your thinking about getting it, the answer is YES! The price is high, but once you get it you will understand the price and the quality of this product.

It Lives Up to the Hype!

I was originally going to purchase a competitors styler for the cheaper price but knew it would leave me wanting this more and that I’d end up eventually getting this anyways so I finally did. I purchased the long barrel version because I plan to keep growing my hair and I’m glad I did because it covers a much larger surface area at a time. I have a lot of naturally wavy hair that falls a few inches past my shoulders, but it’s very fine and doesn’t usually hold any kind of heat style very well. It is also much faster than using a regular dryer and curling iron. I was wowed! The 1.2 inch barrel makes bouncy wavy curls that are in style right now which I love, and the 1.6 inch barrel makes my hair look more like a slightly curly blowout which I also love. I look forward to purchasing the .8 inch barrel for a tighter curl! The round brush I use for my side bangs and it gives them so much volume! The other brushes are great for smoothing at the beginning and the dryer piece really does hide your frizz and reduce drying time. Since my hair is wavy I use the dryer after it air drys about 15% to get it to 85-90% dry which I’ve found has given me the best and quickest results. I recommend using volume mouse and spray on the roots and sea salt spray on curls to create texture and hold. When considering this purchase I watched a LOT of reviews and tutorials which I think really helped lessen my learning curve when starting to use the air wrap. I had no issues when using this product the first time. I’m happy to have finally found a product that works for my hair and to be able to enjoy styling my hair again.

I have a medium length bob/A-line hairstyle, and I typically do not curl my hair; I use a large round brush and dryer for blowouts. Above all, I value shine, health and bounce/movement in my hair and style. I was very excited about this product based upon the description and reviews (hoping for time saving and less heat on my hair and on me in general), but I was pretty disappointed. The dryer portion of the tool was fine, but certainly not amazing or better than my normal dryer (Sam Villa) (I didn't buy this for the dryer anyway). Finally, although I don't normally curl my hair, I experimented with the curling barrels. These were pretty great in terms of ease of curling and they produced bouncy fun curls, but, sadly they fell flat in less than 30 minutes - maybe that is my hair in terms of not holding curl, etc. Not sure. Bottom line: If curling your hair is your thing and your hair tends to hold a curl, this product will be good for you. In my opinion, however, if all you want is a style normally achieved with a blowout with a round brush, this is way too much product, way too much money and takes up WAY too much bathroom space for that. I was longing for my trusty Sam Villa dryer after 3 weeks....

My Feyonce bought me this for Christmas, and if I wasn’t so naive and threw away the box, it would have been returned. The curls do not last. I never had to use hair spray before to keep my curls lasting all day when I did my hair with my straightener. With this, I’ve had to buy a good strong holding hairspray and mousse, which is another product I never had to use before, just to keep the “curls” (I quote curls as even with product they still fall out into soft waves) holding for the day. When I get up the next day after sleeping on them, it looks like I never had my hair done the day before. By the time I finish my last section of hair, the first section is already out. With 7 attachments I was hoping to be able to put my straightener up for good, but unfortunately there is no attachment that allows me to straighten out any small natural curls/cow licks I have at the root of my hair. So even with a $800 tool on my counter top, I still have to use my straightener every time I wash my hair to smooth out my roots. A lot of the attachments still don’t add lift to my roots. I have very flat hair to begin with, and thought that this tool would be my solution, but unfortunately Dyson has let me down once again in this area as well. I’ve watched countless videos on how to correctly use every attachment and still, very small amount of volume is added to my hair. So moral of the story, save your money. Do not waste it on this, as the results that are advertised are nowhere near what you actually get. Very disappointed with this purchase. For $100-$200, sure, but $800? Dyson is out to lunch.

Overall upgrade with a major packaging downgrade.

So I've had the gen 1 Airwrap for about two years and used it and loved it so I have experience with the Airwrap. Honestly, the swapping for curling wasn't a huge thing for me but I thought it might be nice to save a little time. Here's a comprehensive review and comparison for any on the fence to upgrade. Packaging: LOVE the color of the new one, it's vibrant and great. The nesting lid on the bottom is a nice touch, though I prefer the flip top magnetic lid from Gen 1 still. My main complaint and the reason for the 4 stars is the interior of the case is CHEAP now. The tray that holds the Airwrap base is the cardboard material too. It just really screams cheap, and it's so disappointing because the last one was so nice. The felt material in gen 1 did get some scratches, but it wasn't too noticeable and I much prefer it to this. I tried to just swap all the components to my old case because I truly loathe the inside of this one but they don't fit as comfortably. Speaking of not fitting -- I really don't like having to stack my curling rods sideways next to and on top of other attachments. The layout leaves much to be desired and the build quality of the interior is poor especially for a luxury item. You're paying a premium, and the inside felt anything but premium. The travel pouch is incredibly nice in both style and apparent substance, though I haven't used it yet so can't review that fully. The Airwrap & Attachments: So if you've used the Gen 1 the base is functionally the same. I don't notice any difference in the heating/cooling times. The attachments are where it gets tricky. If you're used to swapping barrels it's going to take some time to adjust to turning the cool touch knob. I'm going on 2 weeks and I still catch myself trying to pop the attachment off. Figuring out which direction it's curling now is a little bit harder for my brain to wrap around but nothing major. I primarily use the curling barrels but I did test all the attachments before writing the review. The flat brushes and round brush are functionally the same/similar though I do feel like the flat brushes seemed to direct the air for less flyaways than gen 1. The smoothing/flyaways attachment is very confusing with the different knobs/settings, I've read about it and watched some videos and still struggle. The one I have for my hairdryer works perfectly and is comparatively simple. But if you don't have a Dyson hairdryer and wanted this to be an all-in-one alternative, you'll definitely want to take some time learning this attachment because when it works it is great! I also miss my 0.8 inch curling attachment, I realize you can purchase this separately but I haven't seen it available in this LE rose gold color which is really disappointing because I do like my sets to match so I hope Dyson does consider releasing the narrower barrel in this color soon. Overall, I’d recommend the new Dyson (or the upgrade set if you want to keep your nicer case!) but it’s hard to overlook how the interior of this new model really suffered a quality downgrade.
