Exceeds expectations with no steep learning curve

I hesitated on this purchase, not just because of the price, but because of the reviews I saw that talked about a “steep learning curve” for this product, how hard it is to learn to use it the right way and get the results you want, how the smoothing brushes and round brush don’t work as expected, how long hair takes to style, and how curls drop within a couple of hours. These reviews put me off making such a big investment, so I opted instead for the supersonic hair dryer which got rave reviews and seemed pretty fool-proof to use. I LOVE the supersonic (reviewed separately) but couldn’t shake the idea of the Airwrap, especially as my daughter is now more often than not using my supersonic. I went ahead and purchased an Airwrap last month and it has now become my go-to. The dryer attachment dries my hair almost as fast as the supersonic. The smoothing brushes give me a soft blow out with just the right amount of body, and the round brush doesn’t tear or drag at my hair at all, just gives me a little extra curl at the ends. The 1.2 inch barrel is my go-to for more curls. I just use heat resistant hair spray, make sure to use the barrel when my hair is still at least 20 percent damp, and give each curl a good 15-20 seconds on the cool shot. I have ZERO skills when it comes to styling hair, so when I say that it took no more than 5 minutes to get the hang of this, that should mean something. Each style lasts into the next day, with minimal time required, and my hair feels soft and looks full and shiny. This morning I was in a rush to get to a meeting, and instead of just sticking my hair in a pony tail, I was able wash my hair, dry and style it with the Airwrap dryer and round brush and get out the door in 15 minutes. That is a game changer for someone like me who had basically given up on styling my hair because before the Dyson products it took me 45 minutes to blow dry with always unsatisfactory results. The only feature I can’t quite figure out how to get good results with is the flyaway functionality of the dryer, but that’s not a deal breaker. It is great to have the option of the Supersonic and the Airwrap, but the bottom line is that if I could only have one, I would choose the Airwrap - unless you really need a diffuser or have very thick hair, then I think you can rely on the hair drying attachment of the AirWrap to dry your hair almost as fast as the Supersonic. If it helps, my hair is chest length and fairly fine, prone to frizz, with a light natural curl. I can’t promise it will work as well for everyone, I just know it works for me. If it had dual voltage and I could take it overseas it would be perfect, but that’s not enough to ding it a star. It’s expensive, yes, but it can pretty much replace every hair styler and dryer you have, the attachments are so quick and easy to switch out that you can use 2 or 3 of them as you style to get exactly the look you want, and it gives great results without applying scorching heat like curlers or straighteners in a fraction of the time needed with any other tool or method. Just wish I could have afforded one years ago….

Excellent product but NOT for frequent travelers.

I was in Monaco of all places where looking good was NOT optional, and I even had not packed a round hair brush to use in case of an emergency (because why would i need to?) I spent my trip looking like a RAT!!! Absolutely devastating considering this was the trip of a lifetime. Dyson let me down HUGELY! I did read all the manuals and instructions when I first got the product and not once could I recall seeing anything about "the product will only work in the country of purchase"... This has definitely left a chip on my shoulder for this brand.I ended up wasting space in my carry-on, space in my luggage for the hair products that I tend to use with the Dyson, and honestly emotional energy because of how heartbroken I was that the product did NOT work abroad. I travel frequently. For the ridiculous price that I paid for this product, I can say it is NOT worth it as I've had to go and purchase new hair tools that I HAD, but ended up selling. Not impressed. If you travel frequently, this is not the item for you. If you don't, then by all means, enjoy! Thanks!Kasia

I wanted to like this, genuinely.

I was so excited to receive the Dyson Airwrap and start my hair journey. I ordered the Dyson Airwrap Complete for long hair in the Blue/Blush color way. It arrived and it was beautiful. I used it to blow dry, smooth and curl my hair and I absolutely loved it. The curls stayed in my hair for four days and it felt like a match made in Heaven. The next time I plugged my Airwrap in, it didn’t turn on. I reset the outlet I was using, reset the plug attached to the Airwrap, I reset the breakers in my entire house, then plugged the Airwrap back in. Nothing. There were no signs of life, no flashing lights, and no hope of good hair in the future. There were no signs of life, no flashing lights, and no hope of good hair in the future. I called Dyson who walked me through cleaning the filter, (which felt like a stupid remedy since it was brand new), and then had a video call with a support employee who wanted to inspect the cord for damage. With no evidence of damage and an active warranty, my option was to return the Airwrap I had with a prepaid return label and have a new Airwrap sent to me. Cool. The only colorway available was the original gray and copper. I wasn’t interested in that colorway. I ordered the blue and blush for a reason. The support employee suggested I call back and ask if the blue/blush was in stock every day until it was… haha are you serious? This feels like a luxury product with a hefty price tag that stopped working after one use with no explanation and the company doesn’t have the proper replacement, nor do they have operations in place to let me know when the appropriate alternative is available? What a joke.I did call back every single day for thirteen days until the blue/blush Airwrap was back in stock. At this point, it’s comical. I had sales reps tell me it would be back in stock the next day (not true), I had other sales reps the blue/blush was limited edition and would not be back in stock, and any other response in-between. The narrative changed daily. So when it was finally back in stock, I was shocked and thought the experience was taking a turn for the best…I printed off my return label and sent my dead Airwrap back. Within one hour of dropping my Airwrap off to UPS, I received an email that there had been an unforeseen issue causing a delay with my replacement Airwrap. When I called to inquire further, I was told the blue/blush was out of stock. At this point I’m unbelievably discouraged. Will the blue/blush Airwrap ever come back into stock? Unclear. Will I receive a new Airwrap? Who knows. Will I have to fight tooth and nail for any resolution? Probably. It’s a beautiful product and delivered beautiful results, but to have a perfectly new machine malfunction with no explanation and to not receive an appropriate resolution in a timely manner seems asinine for a product well over $500.Dyson— be better. Be way, way better.

I’m not sure if I’d recommend the air wrap
18 August 2024

I bought the air wrap long with defuser a few weeks ago. The product is fabulous as to be expected, but I’m not sure that it’s doing what I hoped. So my hair is very long (below bra strap) and natural frizzy/curly. I like to style my hair straight, the issue I was having with my old process was time, and I didn’t think my flatiron was good for my hair.I watched endless videos online of people with all hair types using this to straighten hair. So I thought it was a better option for me than the air-straight, because I like to add a wave after. But the air wrap isn’t exactly replacing my flat iron. So I’m a little disappointed in one way.I use the brush attachments to dry and straighten my hair, and I use the same heat protection and oils I usually use. It will look like a straight blowout from a salon right away, but then after 10 mins my hair starts curling on its own at the ends like as if I’ve used the barrels, but I haven’t!So that’s disappointing. But luckily I do like a wave, and that’s why I chose the air wrap over the air straight to have the option. But I’d love the option of straight hair until I curl it!! I have used the barrels too, they work well. And the dryer is a fast dryer. It is exciting to use and I don’t dread my hair wash days like I used to. Also my hair doesn’t look as greasy as it used to. So I’m still not 100%sure if I’d recommend this product to someone with my hair type. Time will tell.I am very curious if the air straight would work better on my hair. But the best part for me is the anxiety I used to have about washing and drying my hair is gone now, so that alone is enough for me to justify the price of this.I’m going to go to a salon and get a blow out by a professional hairdresser, and see if it’s just my hair that won’t stay straight after, or if it’s the Dyson and my technique so far. 🤞In saying all that, I do plan on keeping it.

Lemon Airwrap

I purchased an Airwrap from Dyson on Amazon. I had a gift card and wanted to use it. The Airwrap arrived the same day I ordered it. I was very excited and downloaded the Dyson app and immediately registered my new product. I unboxed it and plugged it in and… it didn’t turn on. Straight out of the box—broken. A lemon. I called Dyson, was told to submit proof of purchase and a photo of the Airwrap showing that it didn’t work. I did as instructed and waited. And I have to trust that they will send me a product that works. I’ve owned Dyson products for over a decade and I am really disappointed by this experience. Maybe my styling skills are to blame.I tried different styling products, cheap ones, and more expensive ones but my hair doesn't hold the desired shape at all.I also hoped that Dyson Airwrap would help me save time on my hairstyle, I have chest-length hair and it takes me about 1h 20min to go from wet to dry. I don't want to spend this much time. To be fair, when I do straight hair, it takes me around 30 minutes, which is great.I'm moving to the US soon and I will have to sell my Dyson Airwrap because the voltage in the US is different. Also, there's another drawback with my version of Dyson. It was purchased in Israel and I can't use it anywhere except for Israel because of the plug. I don't know if I want to buy it again. On one hand, I got used to it and I can style my hair with only one tool. On the other hand, it seems unfair that such an expensive tool requires so much effort to get mediocre/good results.

Should be a better price point & part missing

Ok I've had the airwrap for a month. Bought it in store. I will start with I love the curl tool, that is the hero attachment for the airwrap. I found it does stay if you do a good blow dry spray/serum before hand and using a cool shot to set the curl then hairspray. It's also incredibly fast to dry so that's also in its favour & lightweight compared to a normal hairdryer. The brush blow out is not completely smooth in my opinion however my hair does look healthy after styling. My biggest disappointment was that the defuser attachment didn't come in my box which I didn't realise until a week or so after purchasing as I was focused on other styles. When contacting Dyson store the customer service person stated they were out of stock and when asking why I was sold it ... MoreOk I've had the airwrap for a month. Bought it in store. My biggest disappointment was that the defuser attachment didn't come in my box which I didn't realise until a week or so after purchasing as I was focused on other styles. When contacting Dyson store the customer service person stated they were out of stock and when asking why I was sold it full price with a missing part the person I spoke to didn't seem to care and said I could just return it. I then contacted Dyson online and spoke to someone more professional who stated they'd leave a note on the system to send me out the diffuser attachment once back in stock. However I was pretty shocked at the poor service considering how ridiculously expensive this is. I thought it would fully replace my current hair kit, however I'd still need my GHDs for a super sleek look & my trusty old curling wand for really set & stay curls. (for context my hair is naturally wavy & can be frizzy when left naturally or rough dried but brow drys into style really well)So is it worth it for this price? I don't think it is. it should be at least £100 cheaper and the attachments do feel cheap considering the wand itself feels extremely high quality. Dyson need to work on their customer service and price point. I'd suggest buy to try and see how you feel but if you have the patience then sticking with the classics is good too.

The best investment for gorgeous hair

I can't say enough good things about the Dyson Airwrap! It has completely transformed my hair routine. The versatility of this tool is incredible—whether I want voluminous curls, sleek straight hair, or a bouncy blowout, the Airwrap does it all with ease. What I love most is how it styles without extreme heat, leaving my hair healthy and shiny every time. The learning curve was minimal, and now I can achieve salon-quality results in half the time. The attachments are easy to swap, and they cater to all hair types. Plus, the storage case is a thoughtful addition, keeping everything organized and portable. Yes, it's an investment, but the quality and performance make it worth every penny. My hair has never looked better, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. If ... MoreI can't say enough good things about the Dyson Airwrap! It has completely transformed my hair routine. This product will revolutionize HAIR STYLING+time

One of the best purchases I have ever made- I had asked every single person I knew with thick & long hair if the Dyson air wrap styler was worth the price and every single person answered me without a second of hesitation- they all said yes! So before I even purchased this item- I knew it had to be special. Apparently special is an understatement for this product!First I’ll tell you about my hair texture. It’s extremely thick and coarse- wavy in texture and literally sometimes takes me over an hour to just blow dry my hair flat or straight followed by another hour of going over it with the hair straightener - so to spend $600 on something that would potentially save me hours - seemed like a no brainer. I also really struggle with styling my hair and can barely use ... MoreOne of the best purchases I have ever made- I had asked every single person I knew with thick & long hair if the Dyson air wrap styler was worth the price and every single person answered me without a second of hesitation- they all said yes! I also really struggle with styling my hair and can barely use a curling iron- but this product makes my hair look like I got it done at the salon- every time I use it! Literally this product revolutionized hair styling in all honesty & has cut down on time SIGNIFICANTLY!So if you’re not good at styling your hair & want a tool to assist you in that department you absolute need the. Dyson air wrap! Or if you’re looking for something to manage your thick and coarse hair and significantly cut down on drying and styling time- this is the one! This tool is amazing- my only complaint would be- it needs a styling guide/booklet with all the attachments and all their multiple uses!
