Dyson Corrale Cordless Copper Nickel Straightener Set

I received the Dyson Corrale from Influenster and Dyson I wasn't expecting this so it definitely came as a surprise. I've been using this hair straightener for about a month now and I have to say I really love this hair straightener. I did notice that this hair straightener is a bit heavier than some of the other hair straighteners that I've used but it doesn't weigh enough to hurt your hand when you're straightening it, and I have really long hair. I also love that the Dyson Corrale protects your hair from heat damage when you straighten it. You can keep it at a low temperature and it will straighten. You can also make curls with this hair straightener. Another thing that worked well is that you can get close to your scalp with this hair straightener and it doesn't burn you. I like the fact that you can take it with you anywhere and use it without a plug as long as it's charged. The charging cord is also cool it's magnetic and connects quickly. I also noticed that with the Dyson Corrale it didn't leave my hair frizzy like some other straighteners I have used. The Dyson Corrale also has flexing plates on it to shape and gather your hair and it adjusts to your hair type and in turn it needs less heat. So you can get your hair straight with less damage. I'm in love with this hair straightener and I definitely recommend trying it and you will fall in love. If you look at the photos you can notice no frizz no fly aways and you can see the difference

The Corrale has a maximum temperature of 410 degrees. I have naturally curly 3c/4a hair that's thick and mid length. I washed and blow dried my hair first and then used the Dyson Corrale to finish off my look. If part of the wonder of this iron is its ability to be cordless, I'd expect at least an hour. *could be difficult to travel with via plane - while the Dyson has a airplane mode feature, you must remember to set it to that mode and for international travel, some countries such as Japan wouldn't allow you to travel in or out the country by plane due to the battery * Price! - while the Dyson Corrale did everything it promised and is a great flat iron, I'm not sure if I would say it's worthy of a $500 price tag. I could understand up to $300 for its rechargeable uniqueness but other than that feature, I could get the same results with a much cheaper flat iron

It is worth mentioning though that you are working on a time limit of sorts. Initially it takes 7 hours to charge fully, which then allows you to have 30 minutes of cordless free styling. Personally I had no issues with this, because I would place the straightener back on the dock while re-sectioning off my hair or brushing it, and I found it elongated the battery life. I also have a thinner type hair, so while it was easy for me, I can imagine this could be troublesome for those with thicker hair types. Adding to its ease of use, this straightener only features three different heat settings. I’m not sure I like this, because my previous straightener featured several customizable heat options, including a curl mode. I keep the level of heat at the lowest setting always; in this case it is 330° F for the lowest which isn’t too bad. It’s followed by 365° F in the medium setting and and 410° F at the highest. It’s a small nitpick, but something to consider nonetheless. Finally we need to talk about the price point. We’ve all heard about how great Dyson hair tools are, and any I’ve tried have definitely lived up to their hype - including the Dyson Corrale. It really is wonderful, but I have to ask myself, “Do I prefer this over my previous straightener or could I not bear to live without this?” For the price point I don’t know that I could justify purchasing this particular straightener over some of its competitors. However if this is something you can comfortably afford and you’ve a fan of the Dyson tools, definitely try it out! You will enjoy it.

This straightener seems to let me style my hair faster than my usual straightener, with less total heat, possibly preventing long-term damage.Pros: great design, precise temperature control, flexible straightening plates, safety features, heavy-duty charger and power cord, fast heating and faster than normal hair styling.Cons: much heavier than the typical hair straightener, bulky and heavy charger, dock and cord are not the best if you want to travel light. Quite costly. I would rate this straightener a 5 if not for these two issues.

But one of the biggest selling features to me was the ability to use it wirelessly, and if the battery depletes to a point where it’s wireless use is defunct, I’ll likely regret this purchase…

I haven’t been flat ironing my hair for a while now because I have to have high heat to completely straighten my hair and it normally has a burnt smell the whole time I am wearing it straight and I really hate that. It normally takes me about one to two hours (that includes the drying time) to perfectly straighten my hair. Because my hair is so thick, I have to straighten thinner pieces and it have the run the flat iron through my hair ten times to get my hair smooth.I normally flat iron my hair at 450 degrees but the Dyson only goes to 410 degrees. I put heat protectant in my hair and blew it dry and then I straightened the first few pieces of sectioned hair and it straightened really good. Like better than the salon good. So I started to do larger pieces and figured out that if I go really slow, I only have to go through my hair with one swipe. The battery almost lasted the whole time but since I have really long hair, I figured I would probably have to charge. I ended up letting it charge for about 15 minutes and then I finished the rest of my hair.Once I finished, I was an awe. My hair hasn’t been this easy and as straight with little effort in a long time and now that I have all of the products, I can definitely see myself wearing my hair straight a little more often now. There was a slight freshly pressed smell but no where nearly as bad as it used to be.On day 3 with my straight hair, I did need to straighten some pieces on the back of my neck and around my hairline and I was able to straighten them with less heat.Overall, I LOVE this product and I would recommend it to friends and family! I can definitely see myself buying again!

Continues to be a nice option

I'm pretty familiar with the Corrale and how it works having already owned one for a little over 2 years so I was curious if a newer one offered any updated benefits. Out of the box, the only immediate differences I noticed was the change in the charging dock. Previously you received a full sized dock with a heavy base and a hard sturdy plastic attachment that the iron would lean on. With this one and I believe all of the newer ones you get the new travel dock which is more compact (it folds close) and not nearly as heavy and sturdy as the original. It appears to be made out of mostly plastic material but as the name suggests would be perfect for traveling.As far as actual performance...so far it performs pretty much like the original one I own. It heats up quickly as expected and glides effortlessly through my hair straightening in a single pass (assuming I don't get too ambitious and try to work on a section that is too big/thick) without causing the dreaded burning hair smell that I can experience with other irons using the same amount of product and keeping the temperature at comparable levels. This has always been one of the reasons I enjoy using this iron over others to smooth my natural textured hair. Relying on my memory of battery life when I initially got the original iron I will say that it seems to be the same. I can comfortably complete my straightening process without the battery dying. It will take time for me to really say if battery life is more improved on this one over my original which after 2 years still works well but as expected the battery drains a bit quicker now and I may have to let it sit on the dock a bit longer to get a bit more charge near the end of my process. This is not a shock for a cordless device that is used fairly regularly over the 2+ years but would be nice if this one can do a little better over time. Every since Dyson first released the Corrale I have noticed a lot of unrealistic expectations about battery life where people are expecting the battery to last as if it were a traditional corded iron because of the price. This is asking for a lot and just doesn't make sense. To the best of my knowledge there isn't a comparable full sized cordless rechargeable straightener with a better battery life even today so you have to set your expectations for that in a more realistic manner. It would be great if the battery could last an hour but it might just be asking for too much without needing some major changes that may not be wanted. I personally opt to use it without the cord opting instead to place it on the dock to charge between passes. Because the cord continues to be the magnetic type it just ends up being too easy to accidentally knock the cord off while using so I just opt not to. But if you want to extend your battery time using it corded in hybrid mode may be your best option.Weight-wise, this one seems to be about the same in my hand (I don't see any info on the box or the pamphlet that states a difference so I can't really confirm or deny any changes). The Corrale is definitely a bit heavier than some may be used to with their irons but it is not a weight that will realistically cause the user to feel fatigue or anything during use. I don't experience any tugging or catching of any of my hair when using (although I am used to how to use this and am aware that the urge to clamp the plates down when gliding like we may do with some other irons isn't required at all. And I don't miss out on having a higher temp option like I would on other irons. This was a concern when I first got the original one but I quickly learned that hotter (even for my African American textured hair) doesn't mean better. Oh, and of course, the little tab you can use to make your iron flight compliant remains so for most places you may fly to you can take your iron along for the trip.Overall, I still feel that the Corrale is a great option as long as you have realistic expectations. It is definitely an investment so if the price tag makes you a little nervous I would suggest getting an extended warranty if you can just to give you a little peace of mind. The 2 year warranty is excellent. I would prefer that Dyson went back to providing a full sized dock with the travel dock as an additional accessory included or purchasable if needed as I do have some concerns that the travel dock is much easier to break thanks to it's cheaper materials and somewhat flimsy feel but at least you know you will have the warranty to cover if it does happen to break.

It’s a very heavy styling tool, so when straightening your whole head, it may cause fatigue for your arm/hand. If used for touch ups or to curl under ends of already straightened hair, it would be fine. The barrel is really big too and since I have small hands, it was slightly uncomfortable.Overall, I do like how it works and the cordless feature is awesome. It also comes with a heat resistant pad that it also a case and the already mentioned stand. Not sure how much it would travel with it when flying, but I know I can if I needed to.

Dyson claims this helps decrease damage to hair. Unfortunately, I did not find this to be true on my fine hair. When you glide it through your hair it does not do so smoothly. It feels and sounds like you are dragging sandpaper across your hair. I've never experienced such a sensation from a flat iron. I did have a slightly different experience trying it on my daughter's thick curly hair however. On her hair I did not experience the pulling and breakage. It straightened her curly hair very easily.Being able to use it wirelessly is a great touch. When reading up on this, many mentioned they didn't feel it lasted long enough on a single charge when using it wirelessly. I did not find that to be the case. I was able to straighten both my hair and my daughters long, thick, curly hair in on one charge. Another positive is the built in safety features. There is a little tab on the side with a picture of a house and an airplane. If you pull that out and put it back in with the arrow facing airplane, it cannot be turned on, meaning no accidental turn ons in your bag or around younger children. It also locks closed with a little button on the side. Another positive is the little carrying 'case' it comes with that doubles as a heat mat.All in all I think it depends on the type of hair you have to determine if it is a great product for you; however for the price point it's at, I wasn't overly impressed and will likely stick with my old straightner most of the time.
