A very smart air purifier/heater in a carefully thoughtout package!

Dyson Trial ParticipantHard to fault the aesthetics and design for a fan even though it may be somewhat polarising. Wasn’t too thrilled on the colour choice of this expensive fan, but honestly, I am pleasantly surprised on how well it looks in my living space. See picture(s).Operation wise - it is pretty straightforward. It has all the typical smart fan options (smartphone remote, voice control, scheduling) and then some nifty dyson technologies (diffused mode, heating, 350deg oscillation, smart screen on fan). I just leave it on auto, 25deg temp control, oscillation 90deg. In this mode, fan activates if, room temp drops below 25 degs or it senses a drop in air quality (odours, dust, vocs etc) and blow air in 90deg oscillation.Noteable worthwhile features1. ... MoreDyson Trial ParticipantHard to fault the aesthetics and design for a fan even though it may be somewhat polarising. In this mode, fan activates if, room temp drops below 25 degs or it senses a drop in air quality (odours, dust, vocs etc) and blow air in 90deg oscillation.Noteable worthwhile features1. Smart phone app - Dyson Link is great and very well thoughtout. UI is good and easy to use. You can access your air purifier heater/cooler from anywhere in the world. So if you are looking to heat up your bedroom before you get home, you can remotely access it via the app, and turn it on, otherwise you can just schedule it.2. Small screen on purifier - gives you info (choose from pre-sets of air quality or its subsets, temp or humidity). I leave it on room temp. Wish list: if they could put weather forecast in the morning and evening.3. Size and footprint - somewhat overlooked feature on fans is its footprint. I.e. where can you place it. The foot print of this fan is almost literally the circumference of the blower, which means wherever you can fit the head of the fan, if there is flat base, you can fit the entire unit and that can be right against a wall. Out of sight, and out of mind.4. Heater - smartphone app controllable, remote controllable, schedule-able, temp sensor controlled.5. Tilt - down or up, good to have and quite useful. I am glad Dyson took the time to have that feature.6. Diffused air - useful for when you don’t want air blowing in your face and still want the air to filtered effectively.7. Voice control - not tested8. Formaldehyde purifier - not tested. I require more time to notice if it is drastically different. As I live closer to country side than the city, the air here is not bad enough that I could discern a difference after only 2 days with the machine. It does, however, somewhat help reduce or at least move the cooking smells.Notable negative aspects1. colour not neutral, can be polarising for some. If they had multiple coloured plates to interchange with original brown/orange colour.2. noise - low setting (1-3 out of 10) is silent, but doesn’t feel like it moves alot of air. Medium (4-6 out of 10) sounds like a noisy desktop computer running in the background. Reasonable amount of air is moved, feels like 2-4 times compared silent setting. High setting (7-10 out of 10) sounds like what I would imagine a quite version of the dyson hand drier would be like. Like the dyson hand drier, when set to max (10 out of 10) it is noisy, violent and singular in its purpose but somewhat toned down by a factor of 10. In terms of background noise, it is somewhat akin to what I would imagine a calm dyson vacuum (v6) would sound like. The air movement feels like 2-3 times more than medium setting.3. cost - $999 aud. There is quite a disparity in price when compared to its underachieving competition.4. In terms of actual filter performance, I would have to wait to see (only have had it for 4 days now). There is still a plastic scent, so hard to judge on filter performance after such a short period. To be fair, the plastic scent is reducing the more it filters air. Usually I would be able to judge when filter is changed, but that is still a long ways away.I have been using air purifiers for awhile (xiaomi and sharp), and I can tell you that one is definitely better than the other. When I add the dyson to the mix, I must say that in terms of useful features, it comes out on top easily, but is also easily the most expensive (double the price of my Sharp humidifier/air purifier). As such, when you are comparing this to other smart air purifiers, you should question, does your smart fan/air purifier have any of the notable worthwhile features? If so, how well is it implemented? If not, how much would you pay to have that feature in your air purifier/smart fan?For those that understand the quality that dyson offers in their cordless vacuums, it is not a stretch to say that this air purifier/heater/fan is attempting to be the ‘DYSON CORDLESS VACUUM’ of the fan world. The underlying qualities are noticeable, but not everyone would be convince after first use. At the premium ($999 aud), it is not for everyone, but for those that seek build quality, quality engineering, unique design aesthetic all in one package, the Dyson Purifier should be one of the top items on the list.If I could give 4.5 stars, I would based on the 4 days I have had with it. There is always room for improvement, but in Dyson’s case, room for perfection!Constructive feedbackWhy not package the filters pre installed? It would cut down on cardboard and plastic (by a 1/3) and reduce the package footprint. It will also save the headache of figuring out the ikea-esque instructions. As it is a smart fan that can connect an iOS/Android app (Dyson Link), it would be simpler to plug and play and follow the instructions on QR code, as oppose to make a mess taking out all the packaged filters (3 levels of filtration on two sides = 6 parts), installing the multi level filtration and then plug it in, only to realise that to realise that to understand the full controls of the dyson, you will need to look for a manual online or explore the dyson app. Either give a proper paper manual, or just go digital all the way.

The oscillation is silent, I use to app to aim it at the kids as a joke which they think is funny. The information in the app and also on the screen of the purifier has a very simple layout but is very informative. I look at this data every day to see what was happening, today it said the air quality in the lounge room was just edging into extremely poor which is the worst it has been since we received the unit. The purifier went to work as you can see in the image below and had the air quality back to good in around 30 minutes. If you are looking for a purifier with a heater/cooler built in that shows you live information about the air quality, look no further it’s right here.

Futuristic fan heater with many, many smart features (Dyson trial participant).

I already have 3 older Dyson fans which include the circular table top style and the floor standing tall oval style so I was really interested to receive and compare this unit. The unit does an excellent job as a fan and its innovative features solve some of the previous drawbacks with the other models. For example, the ability to tilt the unit backwards on its base means it can still stand on the floor but the air flow can be directed up into the room. This is great for moving the air around the entire room rather than just the bottom half. I've added a photo to show the fan tilted backwards - it doesn't look much in the photo but it does angle the air flow upwards significantly. I've added a photo to show the fan tilted backwards - it doesn't look much in the photo but it does angle the air flow upwards significantly. It means the fan can be smaller but actually reach more of the room. The app allows an amazing amount of control over the fan and feels so advanced compared to previous models. For example previously when I wanted the fan to swing left and right I went through a little dance of setting it moving then stopping it and physically adjusting the angle of the unit so that eventually I got the range of the movement to match the area I wanted it to cover. Otherwise it would just end up swinging in completely the wrong direction. Now with this model the angle of swing can be very accurately controlled and moved around using the app - I literally can sit and adjust the angle and direction just the way I want it - a small thing but really, really useful.I was surprised and impressed by the amount of options and tech put into this fan, Here is another example - say you don't want the fan blowing directly at you but in the other direction? Just press a button on the app and the machine will do a space age like adjustment and open up rear vents and close the front ones. Hey presto, the air is still flowing but in the other direction. As a self confessed tech addict I liked the app on my phone - I can see the air quality, temperature, humidity and control all of the settings. It's a very slick, cool app with many features - turn the fan on and off, make it hot cold, set the timer, angle - everything.I have not mentioned the filtration aspect - this is an amazing feature and I was pleased to see that my purifier reported excellent air quality in my home. There are a few things I would comment on that I think are down to personal taste - the gold accent - I would prefer one in compete silver or white - that's just my personal taste.I would like the unit to be as tall as my other Dyson floor standing fan - I guess I just like the aesthetic size of the other one.I found installing the filters to be a little bit fiddly and although I referred to the instructions I still found I had to stop and think about it - perhaps I should have referred to online FAQs etc.I have big hands and was worried about damaging the soft filter - maybe these could come pre-fitted? I couldn't work out why they wouldn't be. As an impatient person I just wanted to open the box and set it to work immediately! But that is small beans, once it's done they can be forgotten about until it's time to change them. All in all an excellent product and I applaud Dyson for taking the concept of a fan and not only innovating in the first place but taking that innovation and evolving it even further. There just isn't anything else like it available or even close.

Great Unit

Dyson Trial Participant: The Dyson HP09 came neatly organised in its box and required a minimum of assembly to place the 2 sets of filters in their correct positions. Registering the product online was a simple process. This is a WiFi enabled device which communicates with an app for which I used the android version. It was simple to set up and navigate allowing you to both control the device without the remote and view historical data for the purifying features. The unit itself has a display to show you current air quality and its remote allows you to control the heat temperature setting (thermostat controlled), the rotation of the fan 45 deg through to 350 deg. The fan has 4 settings and on auto it will decide from your settings which it requires. The fan has 4 settings and on auto it will decide from your settings which it requires. The unit also has a night mode where it will continue to operate on its quietest settings with the LCD turned off.Well so how does it perform? I found the Hot and Cool function to work really well as far as heating goes. It was good to be able to set the device to a room temperature and then allow it to work to that setting. The fan on its highest setting pushes out a good volume of air so the noise level rises but on the lower setting it is significantly more quiet and hardly detectable. The cool function is just the fan without any heat. The key for me is the Air purifier and that worked a treat in my lounge. The main 2 contributors for me as an asthmatic are pollen and other smells that set of my allergies and Organic compounds from cooking smells, perfumes, and for me dog smells. It was noticeable to me for instance when i was cooking (badly) and burning food that the device up to 10 meters away picked up the smell, recorded it and adjusted the purifier. I also noticed that in the evening the dog smells were reduced and shorter lived. The machine didn't detect any real level of formaldehyde which is probably a good thing.Would be interesting for me to see if a carbon monoxide sensor could be added to future model. I understand it wouldn't be purified but would be good from a monitoring and alarm perspective.Overall am very satisfied with the unit and would recommend it to anyone looking for a exceptional air purifier.

I bought this from the Dyson website and have been using it for the last two weeks. The delivery was fast and the item was delivered without any damaging. Before buying this fan and heater, I checked the maximum fan speed from other stores, so I knew that the fan speed was not strong enough for someone like me who sweats a lot in summer. I cared about the air purifier function first so it was not a big issue, and I had my quiet air circulator in my room so it was not a problem at all. When it came to the connection of the app, it was quite responsive and most of time it was controlled by google home which was fantastic for me. When it came to the connection of the app, it was quite responsive and most of time it was controlled by google home which was fantastic for me. Regarding the HCHO purification, I could see that the HCHO figure increased slightly in the morning when the sun came in, and then, it was reduced again. So, I could see that it worked. The energy consumption at level 1 fan speed was around 2.3W, at speed 5 it was around 4.5W, and at speed 10, 22-23W. If it worked with oscillation, the power consumption increased by 1-2W. So, the power consumption was like I was using a DC fan. However, when I used the heater, it increased up to 2200W, but I didn't use it that much yet so It is hard to tell the overall consumption of the power. Everything was measured using a smart plug I had so it could vary a bit depending on situation. Since then, I am leaving the purifier on at level 2 24/7 as I am not worried about the electricity bill. The noise was there though. At level 1, the white noise was annoying before going to bed. When the speed level was between 2 and 3, the noise was reduced and I couldn’t hear anything during the night, which was interesting. When it was at level 10, it was quite noisy but it was fine just for air purification for a short period time. Air purifying function was very sensitive and it detected well. In overall, I am satisfied with the product as I am not coughing or suffering from a clogged nose in the morning.

Dyson Trial ParticipantUnboxing the product and getting the machine set up was easy enough, though a simple arrow showing which way up to put the filters could make this even easier. Getting the machine running was quick, for which I was grateful as it was freezing and I was keen to warm up.Set to auto the fan was quite loud to start, which is not really surprising considering how cold the room I was in started at. The heater definitely worked well to warm up my small room. Once the fan drops to 2 I can barely even hear it.Adding the heater to the app was overall fairly painless (the wifi icon didn’t show on the machine but after a bit of prodding it connected). The app was way better than other apps I’ve used for home products! Easy to remotely switch the machine on and off and change the settings (making the physical remote a bit redundant!).The app also made it easy to monitor the air quality. I was really interested to see the air quality in my space as I’m living close to some factories and busy roads and I have two dogs. One of the factories near me handles formaldehyde, which got me interested in how much formaldehyde is in everyday products. Not surprised to see some in my environment and happy to see the machine cleaning the air. Peace of mind for me.Overall I really like the machine. At first I wasn’t sure about the colours, but it blends into the house quite nicely. Literally the only downside I’ve found is that my dog is a bit spooked by the machine when it’s on high and when it rotates. The other dog doesn’t mind it though and I’m sure we can work through the issues with some training!

“Dyson Trial Participant”OK so as per the above, we are trial participants. I love tech and I am also super fussy, so if this thing was bad, I would be ok to say so and i'd sell it and move on. But...Now that it's getting colder, we've been thinking about consolidating devices (air purifier, heater, fan) but couldn't justify the cost... Until now.I know it's easy to say "Yep... of course it's value considering it's free" but we are now considering purchasing another after seeing how well it has worked in our little man's nursery. The fan is great. It's cool atm, so we're not using it as a fan, but I tested it out and it's super powerful, and pushes really cool air.Onto heating, and this thing is a beast. The temperature control seems pretty accurate, too, when checked against our baby monitor's temp gauge. We only really use it to take the chill out of the nursery but i've used it a few times in our open plan lounge/dining/kitchen and it heats the entire area super quickly.I guess air purification is the most difficult thing to test. Suffering from asthma and allergies, I'm really sensitive to air quality, and especially things like mould.Comparing the Dyson to our existing purifiers, and testing by blasting the room (with the door closed) for 5-10mins before entering, I can definitely sense the difference. There's just a crispness and freshness to the air in the nursery, and that's impressive because I definitely thought our existing purifiers were doing a great job.Probably my only criticism... is the colour. Yes, it's stylish, but i'd love the option of a grey/black number. That's literally it.That aside, this thing is that good and replaces so many other products (fan, heater, air purifier and, to a degree, an air con) we're buying another two (for the main living area and our bedroom). Unless Dyson wants to send us another couple.

Dyson Trial ParticipantI’ve had the Dyson Hot+Cool Purifier for almost two weeks now, and I’m really quite impressed. Setup was a bit fiddly but straightforward. As a heater, it manages to heat the entire (medium) apartment in a respectably short period of time, and set to Auto, it effectively regulates the room temperature to maintain comfort levels. I haven’t properly tested cooling at this stage.Regarding noise, it’s much like any other fan. The lower settings are near silent, the mid settings are audible but acceptable, whilst the high settings are a little invasive. The ideal is to position the unit close enough to use the lower settings, making it both effective and quiet.I was a little sceptical about the value of the air purifier, but after seeing the ... MoreDyson Trial ParticipantI’ve had the Dyson Hot+Cool Purifier for almost two weeks now, and I’m really quite impressed. It noticeably reduces post-steak cooking smells, which I find remarkable. The Dyson Link companion app allows me to turn the heater on before I arrive home, so the apartment is comfortable as soon as I walk through the front door. The machine can be controlled completely via the app, even using Voice Control if that’s your thing.I rather like the aesthetic, but I’d prefer a choice of colours as this gold/silver/white combination doesn’t grab me (personal taste). I reckon it would look great in a space with beech timber floorboards though.Dyson products aren’t cheap, but they are quality. This Hot+Cool Purifier is another example of the meticulously considered engineering the brand is renowned for, and it doesn’t disappoint. Dyson lovers will appreciate it, Dyson cynics may be surprised.

Dyson Trial Participant. The machine arrived just in time for the winter and I installed it very easy by fitting the filters with just a click on both sides, it has 360 degrees air filter – this was a pleasant surprise. I live in a one-bedroom apartment and I was able to feel the warm everywhere after just 15-20 minutes because it can rotate almost in full circle. The automatic program is great detecting the need for air purification and adjusting the fan accordingly. The noise level seemed normal to me for a fan device even at maximum speed. You can also view these on the LCD screen of the machine. I left it running during the night and the night mode made it silent enough for me to sleep just fine, stay warm and breath healthy air. I could schedule it to run at certain times same as a TV.The metallic rose gold with white color design makes it modern, premium and durable. Loving this one machine with all these benefits.
