Quite heavy doing cobwebs and other hand holds are needed at times. Dusting with a hose requires 3 hands - 1 for the trigger, 1 for the hose and 1 to move things. This is only cosmetic, the finish is awful on the grey/silver plastic and looks like cheap '70s, the colour is not mixed in properly creating discolouration swirls in both the unit and the battery. There is also slight surface pitting. Why make an expensive, modern space age ray gun and finish it to look like a cheap plastic bowl. Checked with the seller and You Tube, this is the same on all of them. Finally, f it lasts over 40 years like my old plug in, it'll be worth the money. I doubt it. Eco-friendly is a sales pitch and true in so far as the innovative motor and intelligent use of power. Though just about ok for this unit, the modern craziness for battery powered everything and the materials used are utterly damaging and unsustainable being barely fit for purpose in many cases. So, over a lifetime which is greener overall? My old one or this?

The vacuum head is super strong and does great on rugs but the powerful brush roll only slings dirt everywhere when you run over it and doesn’t pick it all up. After making several passes you still have fine grains of sand and when you stand next to it while on, you can feel the sand being slung around. Exactly what my regular floor vac does. I hate that because the way it functions on the rugs is phenomenal. It’s also very loud and the brush roll makes a loud sound when it’s in motion which is super annoying. It makes me think something is wrong every time I use it but I’ve checked and there isn’t. It’s just the powerful spinning of the brush roll. Another thing I don’t care for is my brush head does not have a light on it. I wish I would have gotten one that did. Every vacuum I’ve ever had did and I thought I wouldn’t miss it but I need it! It helps tremendously to see the dust and fine dog hairs against a dark floor. Lastly I wish there was a way to power on and stay on without holding the trigger the entire time you are vacuuming. I take a quick second to lean over and move something off the floor and accidentally let off the trigger and it shuts off-you get the whoosh sound like a jet pack shutting down-and then I have to pull the trigger to power back up. I hate that though it may be to conserve battery. My likes are; it’s great on rugs, it has a replaceable battery, it’s sleek and looks nice, it’s easy to empty and I bought one with a lot of attachments. The battery life on mine is as advertised providing I use it sparingly and on the pre set setting.Overall, I’m not happy that I paid the amount of money I did for what I got performance wise only because our house has no carpet only area rugs. If my house was all carpet I would love it. We live in a sandy state, we have dogs and smooth laminate floors and we have to vacuum every single day. I’ll be purchasing something else.

I bought it when it went on sale and waffled between this one and the slim. I am pretty happy with this one because I did get through quite a bit of cleaning before having to empty the compartment. It is a pity this one doesn't have a head specifically for hard flooring, but it's not a big deal.Having the ability to quickly change the attachments has been amazing. It does get heavy after constant hand-held-use, but it being versatile outweighs that. The trigger mechanism has pros and cons. It's good because it only runs when you want (no need to constantly turn it off/on), but it's also inconvenient because you have to keep it on. I kind of wish there was an accessory that would allow you to keep it on for times you are using the hose and need a hand to rotate/move ... MoreI bought it when it went on sale and waffled between this one and the slim. The springed hose is also a mixed review because it's nice that it compacts itself instead of limply flailing around, but you need the extra force to manipulate it during use.Overall, I am quite satisfied with my Dyson and it made cleaning more exciting and easier to do because of its cordless nature, lots of accessory, and relatively strong suction and it's worth its weight, but it is a bit of luxury to buy.

Perfect Dyson replacement after 20 years.
28 August 2024

I bought the V11 in Aug ‘24 after my Dyson DC 04 finally gave up the ghost a few weeks ago. I had it for 20 years so going back to Dyson was a preditermining factor. I’d always been happy with my vacuum and I was equally happy to buy this recent and updated version. It is easy to use, lightweight and powerful. Being cable free makes hoovering simple and unencumbered not having to move or swing the power lead out of the way. The visual led indicator is easy to read and gives you the remaining hoover time available. There are also three power modes depending on where you are hoovering. Battery recovery when plugged in is also quick and simple. The additional tools make corners and picture rails easy to clean and the car clean is quick especially having freedom without leads. I have only used it a limited amount of times but the experience each time has been enjoyable. I do feel confident with Dyson products, they have always been reliable and extremely functional. Peace of mind means a lot to me and I certainly get that with the V11. Overall, very happy and I would recommend this to anyone thinking of buying an all rounder which is simple to use. Looking forward to a clean house now for many more years to come.

Best of all, it’s not really, really heavy. All new generation V11s also have click on battery option (great if you want a spare to rotate, or just more convinience and less screws!)V11 VS V11 OUTSIZEThe Outsize is really good for massive houses and for easy cleaning of the head. It also at the time of me buying had a click in battery. With 225AW, it’s a powerhouse; it easily sucks up almost anything in its path. Additionally, the bin is 125% bigger and the head 25%, plus it had a fluffy head for hard floors. A former top of the range Dyson, it remains a fantastic vacuum; just maybe too big for some.V11 vs V8For those of you saying “I’ll stick with my V8, thank you.” That’s fine; the V8 rocks. But just remember, with 60% more power, that’s how the V11 rolls.V11 vs V10A V10 has screw in battery only while a new V11 gives you the option of Click In. A V10 offers 3 manually adjustable power modes via a switch. A V11 offers a digital screen with auto mode that tells you how much battery power remains. There’s also higher max suction (145 AW on the V10, 220AW on the V11).HEADS (MOTORBAR)The V11 Torque drive option has a head with an adjustable gate (3 settings); superbly powerful and a great all-rounder. The new motorbar has improved tackling of pet hair (via 56 detangling vanes) and also prevents hair build up on your brush bar. This is also the same motorbar as on the newer V7, V8, V10, but crucially, the power it recieves from the V11 is notably greater.BATTERYLots of people misuse and overuse max power (known as boost from V11 upwards) to the detriment of the battery. With a V11, auto mode intelligently switches you only to boost mode as and when needed. How? You ask. The smart sensors detect how much dirt or what floor type you are on and switch to either eco, auto or boost. That way, you are preserving you battery life and vacuuming your house without compromise.CHARGER/STANDThe plug is the same as that for the V11 Outsize, V10 and V15. There is also a Dyson standing floor dock avaialble as an optional extra for your machineFILTERThe advanced filtration captures 99.99% of particles as small as 0.3 microns. The LCD screen also prompts you when it needs cleaning. Purple is the new black…WEIGHTThe V11 is 1lb heavier than the V10 (6.68lbs vs 5.8lbs)SUMMARYThe V11 is in the middle of the fleet and is likely to keep more users, more happy, more of the time due to its weight, power and price - one of my favourite Dysons for sure. If you want a bigger bin, better power and the best battery option compared to V7, V8 and V10s, start from here as your first Dyson port of call. It is also nice to have a click in battery as well as the digital display which takes the effort out of picking modes (via Auto) and guessing how long is exactly left on your battery.Another swaying factor for getting a V11 is the choice of heads or motorbars. If you are a pet owner and want a V11, strongly consider the the motorbar detangling technology. If you want greater power and gate adjustment, then opt for the Torque drive version (but keep in mind this doesn’t have the hair detangling vanes.) It also tends to move a little smoother, also, but avaialblity maybe limited. For most (given the popularity of pets) the newer motorbar will be the go to. If you want both features, however, you will have to go for a V15 or Gen 5. Back to the V11; as bigger Dyson vacuum, that’s both easy to move and packing punchy power, the V11 is a true hit, plus one that simply has to be on your consideration list.

One zillion times better than my old vacuums. Powerful suction, easy to empty canister, super on pet hair, and love the charging base set up in my closet! The first day I vacuumed my carpeted bedroom it pulled up multiple canisters (3+) of dirt and hair!!! I'm a bit of neat freak and previously vacuumed almost every/every other day with my old upright vacuum. Clearly the V11 outperformed both our upright and robot vacuums, cleaning the messes they left behind. House smells cleaner and I think our allergies are improved!!!In fact I can clean the whole house, picking up/moving things as I go in the time it took me just to pick up the floor junk to be able to run the robot vacuum. We have 2 kids and 2 dogs and the V11 can pick up all the crumbs, dirt, and hair they make.Only downside is that the canister is small, but I'm very willing to empty often for the performance. Plus it's so easy to empty it's not much trouble.Love all the hand attachments too, but would have preferred if it came with both the two main floor heads one for carpet and one for hard floor. Guess I have to buy the other I need, but it will be well worth it.After 3 weeks of near daily use the "wheels" in the floor attachment are showing wear. So maybe will need to replace that regularly with such heavy use. On the upside the roller doesn't get tangled with hair (per or human) nor sewing threads, leaves, etc. so it can keep picking up the messes and I don't have to constantly care for the roller like I used to have to with the robot vac.The V11 has literally replaced two vacuums!

I cleaned my mattress which wasn’t dirty at all. I have a few projects to work on with my new Dyson.

The V11 vacuum is missing an important part
15 December 2024

I am very disappointed with Dyson I purchased the V11 in late November didn't open the package until December. I have purchased your products for many years had some issues which were always handled swiftly without question that was not the case on December 5th when I called the man that answered was no expert. I explained to him when I opened the box I noted there was only one floor cleaning attachment my last purchase was the V8 absolute which came with 2 attachments 1 for hard floors and one for carpet. I thought ok they have designed the one head to do both but when I received your email titled a guide to cordless cleaning it showed that there should be 2 floor attachments as with the V8 absolute it seemed obvious the soft head was missing from the box even this ... MoreI am very disappointed with Dyson I purchased the V11 in late November didn't open the package until December. The gentlemen who I spoke with did not have a very good understanding and was no help what so ever, further he could not or would not direct me to someone else for help, he just kept telling me the other attachment was not available but when it was I would have to pay for it. If this is the future for Dyson and I will not be receiving the attachment free of charge I will no longer be a customer and I would like to return the V11 Vacuum. Minus the box since my confidence in Dyson was such that I would have no problems it went to the garbage next day!! I trust I will receive a suitable response to this review, unfortunately I could not find any other way to contact someone of a higher authority to discuss this with.Thank You

Would not recommend
29 January 2024

I wouldn't recommend this vacuum which I'm really disappointed about because it was expensive, but I definitely feel like there are major design flaws. 2 great things about it though - it works REALLY well especially on carpet, and also I was delivered a faulty part but a quick phone call to customer service got me sent a new part. So those are good things. I have 3 major complaints though, and 1 kind of dumb complaint. I just feel like a $600 vacuum could have been designed better. The kind of nit-picky thing I don't like about it is how you can't see when you're changing the attachments. I switch back and forth between hand held and standing vacuum all the time, and that massive main body attachment you can't see what you're doing when you're trying to put on the ... MoreI wouldn't recommend this vacuum which I'm really disappointed about because it was expensive, but I definitely feel like there are major design flaws. 2 great things about it though - it works REALLY well especially on carpet, and also I was delivered a faulty part but a quick phone call to customer service got me sent a new part. I switch back and forth between hand held and standing vacuum all the time, and that massive main body attachment you can't see what you're doing when you're trying to put on the new attachment so that's frustrating. Honorable con mention is that the battery is insanely heavy. But my 3 main complaints, which if I'd known about these I probably wouldn't have bought this vacuum are: 1) no "headlights"?? So can't see in dark spaces if there's anything that needs to be vacuumed. I've had a cheaper vacuum that had lights so i just figured this one would too. I really miss having that feature. 2) the air blows REALLY hard out the top of the vacuum which blows dog hair all over the place when trying to use it as a handheld vacuum. I am so serious - I had to buy a small sized dog surgery cone to direct the air up to me instead of the floor to fix this. 3) having to hold the trigger to keep the vacuum on 😑 had to buy a trigger hold on Amazon specifically designed for Dyson. Glad I had these two fixes to make the vacuum usable. I had high hopes for this vacuum and am really disappointed. I wish I'd kept my old hand held vacuum and just used my new Dyson for upright vacuuming but now I just have this one non-user friendly vacuum that is supposed to be the best and is actually horrible. Good thing it has good suction that's its one redeeming quality.

[Rewarded Review] Essential for pet owners & people with allergies
21 June 2023

I'm picky about vacuums, and I've owned quite a few through the years. This may be my favorite -- even more so than my beloved Dyson "Animal" upright, because of its ease of use, portability and surprisingly powerful engine. As the owner of two large dogs that shed dark hair incessantly, I'm primarily interested in a tool that will pick up all animal hair without clogging or leaving half of them behind. The V11 is the most effective vacuum I've ever tried for this purpose. It may look like a stick vac, but it's as powerful as my larger upright and does a better job at pulling the hair out of carpets and upholstery. It switches easily from floor vac to hand-held model for furniture or car seats, and it does a terrific job of cleaning pet hair and freshening sofas and ... MoreI'm picky about vacuums, and I've owned quite a few through the years. The V11 is the most effective vacuum I've ever tried for this purpose. It may look like a stick vac, but it's as powerful as my larger upright and does a better job at pulling the hair out of carpets and upholstery. It switches easily from floor vac to hand-held model for furniture or car seats, and it does a terrific job of cleaning pet hair and freshening sofas and pillows. Even though I vacuum my carpets and furniture frequently to keep pet hair at bay, everything was noticeably brighter after being vacuumed with the V11. The hair-screw tool is my favorite -- it's particularly effective for handheld removal of pet hair -- but all of the attachments are useful and easy to switch out quickly. After using the V11 a few times, we also noticed that a family member and frequent visitor seemed to be far less affected by allergies to pet dander, sneezing far less and having no issues with watering eyes during visits. We attribute this to the V11's filtration system, which appears to do a far more effective job of sucking up but not expelling allergens into the air. This was a delightful surprise.Other features we appreciate: The Motorbar cleaner head is easy to twist, turn and manipulate under furniture and into corners, and it does equally well on carpet and hardwood without damaging the wood. Battery power is more than adequate for typical home use, cleaning six rooms and a hall with reserve power to spare. Emptying the dirt receptacle is far easier than other models I've owned, thanks to the clever design that slides downward and "pushes" dirt out of the chamber. The LCD screen is attractive, well-placed for visibility and handy to keep track of vacuum mode, battery life and other alerts. The only drawback we noted -- and it's a tiny peeve -- was having to keep our thumb on the start button within the handgrip in order to keep the vacuum running. But that's a small thing, and easy to live with while appreciating all of the other features of this easy-to-operate and easy-to-store machine.
