The Dyson V8 is the basic Dyson stick vacuum you can use to make your house completely dust free. With the attachment with anti-tangle technology, you can vacuum dirt and hairs without a problem. Because the brush rotates, you can thoroughly clean your carpet too. Charge the stick vacuum and vacuum for up to 40 minutes. This allows you to easily clean an entire floor. Turn the stick vacuum into a handheld vacuum and vacuum other surfaces too, in addition to just the floor. With the 2-in-1 accessory, you can vacuum furniture. You can also use it to dust off your book shelves. The crevice tool removes dust from behind the closet. You can easily open the dust collector of 0.54L and empty it in the trash can. That way, you won't have to touch the dirt yourself.

The vacuum performs exceptionally well in this regard, leaving floors and carpets noticeably cleaner. The V8 Animal also comes with several attachments, including a mini motorized tool for upholstery and a crevice tool, which adds to its versatility. The vacuum has two power modes: a standard mode for everyday cleaning and a max mode for more intensive tasks. While the max mode offers increased suction, it does drain the battery faster. On a full charge, the battery life is decent, providing up to 40 minutes of runtime in standard mode, though this reduces significantly in max mode. Emptying the dustbin is straightforward and hygienic, thanks to Dyson's no-touch dirt ejector system. However, the dustbin is relatively small, so you may find yourself needing to empty it frequently during larger cleaning sessions. One potential downside is the price. The Dyson V8 Animal is an investment, but for those dealing with pet hair or looking for a high-performance vacuum, it’s worth the cost. Additionally, while the vacuum is lightweight and easy to use, it may not be the best option for those with larger homes due to its limited battery life. Overall, the Dyson V8 Animal Stick Vacuum is an excellent choice for pet owners or anyone looking for a powerful, easy-to-use vacuum that excels in picking up pet hair and maintaining a clean home.... Suction is strong even on the lower setting to make floors look like new. Emptying the canister is as easy as could be. Battery life is sufficient to clean my small home. I love that by placing the Dyson in the wall hanger it attaches directly to the charger. No searching for charging cords, or charging/change detachable batteries. My Dyson is always ready and charged whenever I need it. It is neatly tucked away, taking up little room. Being an older person, I appreciate the fact that the Dyson is lightweight and easily maneuvered. It is light enough that when the head is removed and used separately, makes cleaning our carpeted stairs easier than ever. In summary, I love my Dyson, and would recommend that the extra cost is well worth it. You will save yourself the frustration of purchasing multiple machines which are not effective. and which will end up costing more in the long-run. My only regret is that by thinking of the cost I was actually denying myself the "pleasure" of a cleaner home. I don't worry about how much our beautiful dog sheds, and can enjoy her playful personality.... Show more

It's a little odd in that you literally pull a tab on the top of the motor housing and the whole thing lifts upward as it also opens the bottom of the bin, allowing it to empty. It's supposed to keep your hand away form the debris as it falls. I had a similar stick vaccum before this one and you simply pushed a button on the side of the dust bin to release it. That seemed a lot easier and convenient, but Dyson's method works fine and you do get used to it.The one thing missing on this vacuum that I loved with my last stick model are LED lights on the front of the floor cleaner head. It's really useful in being able to see where the smaller particles of dust and dirt are on the floor and rug, even in higher lighted conditions. Also, I'm not impressed with the wall hanging unit and the way you attach the vacuum for recharging. There's a hinged charger that flips forward, you then slide the top of the vacuum into the charging unit and pushed it back into the wall hanging unit. With my old stick vacuum, you simply pushed the vacuum head into the stationary wall hanger and it began charging. However, even with the smaller inconveniences of not having a lighted beater head and the odd charging method, this vacuum is a beast. The accessories you get with it, including a hardwood/tile floor beater head and rug head, along with the detachable furniture/car vaccum unit, make it worth any little detractions.I highly recommend it.... Amazing piece of technology

I've been wanting to buy one for a while but I've been putting it off as I'm supposed to be getting my apartment renovated however I finally couldn't stick the constant dust and sweeping anymore. I never had a vacuum cleaner before as I have wooden floors, laminate and tiles and I had a cat to hated loud noises. So this is great. I wanted one which was cordless as I don't have a lot of plugs so having to plug it in as I went along would have been awkward. It took me a long time to decide on this as I wasn't too sure I could handle it, as in weight wise. I am starting to get a bit of arthritis in my right hand so I wanted something that ws light enough. So far everything has worked out and I'm thrilled with my purchase. I am starting to get a bit of arthritis in my right hand so I wanted something that ws light enough. So far everything has worked out and I'm thrilled with my purchase. The trigger mechanism is very light, it doesn't take too much effort to turn it on or keep it on when I'm cleaning and it's a nice lightweight feel in my hands. I can so switch it between my right and left if my right is too sore. All in all I'm very happy. I hurt my back last year and it took so long for me to get back to being able to do all the cleaning I used to do, like sweeping and then washing the floors, then dusting, so this helps especially with the wooden floors and laminate. As for the tiles in the kitchen and bathroom I still wash them. I still need to get down every once in a while and clean the grouting between the tiles but that's not a problem as much as it had been a few months ago. But as I said I'm thrilled with the vacuum cleaner and I'm still working out all the bits and pieces and how best to use them. But it's a joy to use. My sister has one and she loves it. I love the way it can go under things, the way it bends a little. So much easier than pulling all the furniture around.... Show more

MIXED FEELINGS

I am in love with the simplicity, efficiency and option of tools. I am very dissatisfied with the battery life of 40 minutes or less. It’s as if you have to choose what you’re cleaning for the day. Do you do all the rugs in the house and then hit the crevice tool on another day or the ceiling fan on another day? And I was totally shocked and disappointed by the max setting which lasts less than 10 minutes. Then you have to wait five hours to recharge. The overall power on the unit is sufficient because I just Re-carpeted the whole house with a low level berber. So it’s impressive to see that it’s picking up everything the naked I cant see. My needs for simplicity and availability win so I will have to adapt to the very poor Dyson battery life. I usually do my homework before, but you know what they say about assuming…… I read the reviews later on and I was reading that these Dyson batteries need to be replaced in two years sometimes less as they do not want to recharge or hold full charge. If that is true, this is my first and last Dyson product.... Show more

Not the Dyson quality I expected
16 August 2024
I owned a Dyson upright vacuum for 15 years and it was the best vacuum I ever owned. I have a small home and 2 animals and thought, especially because of the dyson reputation , this would be just as high quality. The suction isn't even close to what I experienced with my other vacuum. I know this isn't as big and may not be designed for deep cleaning but this isn't even close.1. The plastic material is noticeably cheaper2. the suction doesn't pick up anything heavier than dust and some pet hair before it ends up getting clogged up in the carpet tool or the middle of the wand. When I attempt to use the "power boost" it shuts off. If there is any debris that has been sucked up, it falls back out on the floor when I pick it up to empty the tank.3. The wand has a ridge in the middle that clogs every time I use it so I have to take it apart and stick a long tool down to free the clog. This happened the very first time I used it...not after some wear and tear.4. I have one short hair dog and a cat that is maintained, it's not an obscene amount of hair. The animal hair collects up in the carpet tool and then leaves a trail of hair at the edges of the vacuum path. It's like it rolls it around in the carpet tool and spits it out the sides.5. The extra power boost doesn't work, just shuts off.6. I don't use any of the attachments because the suction isn't strong enough to dustIt is good enough to use for daily maintenance but I wouldn't recommend this if you have carpet or need to sweep up anything more than light dirt. I still have to sweep with a broom after using it. I like how the swivel maneuvers around and under furniture, I just wish I could do my house without having to take it apart 3 times to unclog it.... Not what I was expecting
7 November 2023
I'm pretty underwhelmed with this vacuum and unsure if they will allow me to return. I opened this last night and charged it overnight to make sure the batter was good to go this morning. My first issue with this is apparent Dyson requires you to hold the trigger the entire time you are vacuuming which makes absolute no sense to me. The next thing was nothing was wrapped in plastic and im not sure if it's cardboard dust or I received a used unit. Now to the functionality. It does appear to have good suction on the max speed. That said I was able to go over my thin 5x7 season carpet do part of my dining room and entry before the battery went down to one bar. It picked up decent amount but I'm just not wow-ed by this over my other vacuums. It picked up decent amount but I'm just not wow-ed by this over my other vacuums. Also the canister is getting hot while vacuuming. As others have mentioned I only received the small brush with my vacuum also. For reference I already own plug in Shark Rotator, Shark Robot Vac, and a cheap Bissel Cordless stick. This was supposed to replace that stick. Which has a duck taped handle and has been abused for 4yrs sucking up baby food bits during weaning and helping with black lab hair. The battery is finally dying on that so I was trying to upgrade to something to mostly replace the plug in. For the money I just dont know if this is it. I think maybe the brand might be over hyped or maybe I just have way high vacuum expectations. I included some after photos from our Halloween rug. Now in all fairness my robot hates this rug too and even the plug in struggles. But I thought the dyson would be able to handle it. I went over it multiple times 3x today.... Show more

Should have purchased sooner!

I prolonged purchasing the V8 Absolute because there were so many mixed reviews, but now I wish I would have gotten it much sooner! I am single woman, in a 2 bedroom apt w/ about 1,000 sq ft in laminate flooring. The only carpet I have are runners in the bathroom. I consider myself a very clean - in an ADHD way - type of person, but this device picked up dust on the first run over my floor that I didn’t know existed being that I had just mopped a few days prior. From being able to clean my baseboards more throughly now, the floors, window seals, upholstery…anything I can find to clean up…I DO. And it’s fun. Using the regular mode I have covered my entire apt thoroughly without the battery running out. In max mode, I don’t even think it lasted 10 mins but realistically, there are very few occasions where I needed it. The true test was vacuuming the entire floor and going behind it with a microfiber mop to polish/clean with my laminate floor cleaner. The mop was soooo clean after doing my entire apt. It didn’t turn black or dingy from lingering dirt, or have any single strands of hair attached to it (especially after going thru my bathroom). I was thoroughly impressed! That’s how you know it’s doing a great job! For what my needs are, it is absolutely amazing.... Show more

Stick vacuum best bang for the buck
27 July 2024
I have an older Dyson V7, and I recently purchased this new model for a friend. Dyson has continued to refine and improve the V7 even though Dyson has several generations of newer stick vacuums. The improvements are minor but the new V7 is an obvious improvement.Dyson uses a better quality plastic and other materials to make their products more durable and last longer. The battery has enough capacity to clean an average house, provided it is not unusually dirty. Emptying the collection bin is easy with a pull-up handle to release a bottom flap. Attachments are easy to snap on and easy to remove with a push button. This is a fairly entry level kit which includes the vacuum, the motorized carpet brush, crevice tool and dust brush. Well, it's our second Dyson V8...
10 November 2023
Even with some shortcomings, I have praised every Dyson I have owned so far. Although the previous Dyson V8 we had was still operational, it suffered through a lot of use from my children. Being dropped over a dozen times, it finally started cracking in some places, and had a lot of scratches. This "new" model seems to have improved on a few aspects from our older V8 unit. The long suction tube is now a black, high impact plastic compared to the orange / gold, metal powder-coated version that was easily scarred with use. The top chamber-filter now has a cover to keep it in place, which was a very big complaint from my family as it was always falling out with use. Standard power mode still lasts the same amount of time, about twenty minutes, or enough to finish up ... MoreEven with some shortcomings, I have praised every Dyson I have owned so far. The top chamber-filter now has a cover to keep it in place, which was a very big complaint from my family as it was always falling out with use. Standard power mode still lasts the same amount of time, about twenty minutes, or enough to finish up one floor of our house. "Turbo" mode drains the battery much faster, decreasing time to about ten minutes, but has enough suction to pick up the most stubborn objects, even stuff the bigger Dyson won't grab. It's enough time to get all the outside leaves and debris cleaned up from our kitchen area. Very easy to reach under furniture, if there's enough clearance to get the head under; no need for juggling attachments. My biggest praise for Dyson is that our family can easily destroy any vacuum in about six months with all the animal hair we clean up; they just don't keep the same amount of suction. Each Dyson has not decreased more than 10% of its suction power in the three or more years they have been owned. They just keep going.... Show more
