Dyson's V8 Origin Vacuum is an awesome vacuum to have . Upon opening my Dyson the instructions were clear, easy to read & understand. Assembly of the Dyson was very easy a few clicks ( slide piece into corresponding piece & they click together) & everything is good to go. You plug cord into outlet & the top of the Dyson. Let it charge for about an hour & you're good to vacuum. You can not vacuum while plugged in, kinda the purpose of a cordless vacuum BUT A charge last roughly 30-45 minutes ( pretty good, definitely a plus) depending how you use it ( whether it's a powerful ( max) or less powerful).Whether you are using max or not it picks up everything. Powerful gets all the dirt & grime out of your rugs or plain floors, I use the less max for bathroom & kitchen rugs, it gets the dirt out but won't suck up your rug up, I love that. The vacuum comes with an attachment that is easily changed, simply click button to dislodge the bottom vacuum & add attachment with a click. That attachment has 2 uses with or without brissles ( brush like) great for getting ceiling or woodwork dust.Dyson V8 Origin Vacuum is a lightweight vacuum and is very easy to maneuver especially in tight spots, gets under couches, chairs & tables with ease. The dirt chamber is clear & and you can see when it needs to be emptied. To empty the dirt chamber you lift up the lever to about 3 clicks & bottom of chamber emptied the dirt.Everything is clearly noted & easy to use. When vacuuming, in order to vacuum which may be a pro or con depending on your liking, you do need to continue to hold the button to vacuum, once you let go it stops. That also could be very useful such as if you suck something up that you're not supposed to just let go and it stops. The filter section can be washed out.I also love that the vacuum itself ( bottom) that sucks everything up has a clear covering that shows if you have hair that needs to be removed & that area is wide enough to be able to get anything out if needed to be.The vacuum swivels greatly to get all areas.I absolutely love Dyson V8 Origin Vacuum makes cleaning a breeze & life a little easier.Once your done vacuuming you can attach to wall attachment that comes with the vacuum for charging station & out of way.Dyson V8 Origin Vacuum is lightweight but is very powerful & gets the job done & gets the job done effortlessly.I would definitely recommend Dyson you will definitely love it & it will

I thought it was too quick to run out of battery at first as well but… Folks that think it doesn’t last long are likely using it on full power; I was doing this unknowingly and even called Dyson to complain… realized it during the call. But on my own and not as a result of their troubleshooting or investigating the issue. That’s like driving your Tesla in Ludicrous mode for the entire commute. It’s not meant to be used on full power for a large area or prolonged time. Full power is only for short bursts if/as needed. Nice looking, slim profile, lightweight (5 lbs), powerful suction and a super maneuverable swivel nozzle. But battery life is short if you use it on high ( about 30 minutes), which you will, because the high suction is way more effective. And you have to charge it after each use, and the charges take about 4 hours. It’s great for sweeping the kitchen, or if you have a small space, free of carpet, to clean on a regular basis, I’d say go for it. BUT, I’m glad I still have a regular Shark upright vacuum machine for carpeted areas (and I take more than 30 minutes to vacuum the entire house, which can’t be accomplished on the Dyson). Great Buy - Uncomfortable to Hold, but Works Great
17 December 2022

Overall, this is a good vacuum. The price is pretty high, even on sale for $299. It’s very lightweight and incredibly easy to slide, although the wheels seem pretty loud. The actual suction seems to be pretty quiet. It is incredibly uncomfortable to hold however, and I found myself switching hands frequently. The battery life is decent, and I’ll be using the DeWalt battery hack to get even longer run time. I had just vacuumed my entire house (mainly hardwood with 5 throw rugs) with the Bisell Powerglide Pet Slim corded, and thought it did a decent job. However, I used the Dyson and filled the container thrice (two cats and I have long hair). 🤮 it works really well on cat litter too. Great, until it's not.

I got this for christmas a few years ago after doing extensive research on stick vacuums. This one seemed like the best option for me, and I have always wanted a Dyson. It was super easy to assemble and the charging port is very small and convenient. Works great for cleaning the whole house and never lost a charge, until very recently. Now, every time I use it it lasts for about 10 seconds, then the motor starts revving and it shuts off. I have cleaned the filter, as I do regularly anyway, and checked that there is nothing stuck inside somewhere. Checked the battery for damage, checked everything I can find online to look for. Still does it. I can't even buy replacement parts for it even if I knew what was wrong! I had to go back to my old Bissell that's huge and plugs in. Very dissappointed in the money spent on something that didn't last nearly as long as it should have.

Lightweight and powerful
28 October 2022

This is a great vaccuum. It is compact, but powerful. I live in a small space, so I extra appreciate that it is easy to store when I'm not using it. It only takes up about as much space as a broom, but it works a lot faster. It works really well on hard surfaces. It worked effectively on my shaggy rug, so I assume it handles carpet well too. (No carpet in my place.)It's cordless so no tripping around a wire. The battery has held a charge very well so far. I've had it about a month, and so far only charged it up once. I've used it fairly frequently, several times a week, now quite daily, but just in short stints. I use it to spot clean random dirt and cat hair in a small apartment. The ball joint has a wide range of movement, so you can get into those awkward spaces like corners. The handle is comfortable to hold, and I really like the trigger power switch design in the handle. It's easy to turn on and off with just a slight squeeze or release. It's nice that it's on the grip, it saves time, and conserves battery too. Every second counts. It's relatively quiet too. There is definitely the hum of a motor but the decibels are on the lower end. My somewhat skittish cat does pretty well with it. (I've had vaccuums in the past that had stauncher pets running for the hills.)It works really well for my needs. I am happy with it.

Not good for pet parents, Cons outweigh the pros
2 January 2023

I really wanted to love this vacuum. Maybe my expectations were unrealistic, but our old vacuum that was all of $100 didn’t give me this many issues. We have 3 dogs and 2 cats and a baby. Our place is under 1,000 sqft, mostly hardwood but we have rugs around. Because of the lack of power this vacuum has, I have to vacuum several times PER DAY to keep pet hair at bay. That’s so unrealistic! With a baby that is crawling around, I want to vacuum once every morning and be done with it. I think this vacuum would work better for a family who doesn’t have animals and doesn’t have rugs or carpets. Seems like it does a decent job on our hardwood, but even then I notice I have to run over areas of debris several times for it to pick them up. Yes, I’ve cleaned the filter several times - we even bought brand new ones and still not working. Pros: Has different heads for many purposes, easy to carry a baby in one hand and vacuum with the other, my cat loves to chew this particular charging cable and we’ve had to replace it 2 times and it’s not cheap. Cons: Does not do a good job sucking up dog or cat hair (long or short) like other vacuums do, does not have a strong suction, does not pick up kitty litter like it should, leaves rugs dirty with debris, no on/off button so you have to be pulling a trigger button the entire time you vacuum, extremely expensive

Pretty and Extremely Disappointing
19 April 2023

I had two different, similar Dysons years ago and they were both excellent. I don't even mind that they didn't stand the test for too many years because they were so effective and I used them SO much. They would pick up visable pieces from INCHES AWAY and they seemed good with particles, too. To replace them I tried the less expensive Ryoko, Tineco, and Shark Cordless Pet. I thought if only I could get another Dyson, it would help so much with cleaning. Finally got this Dyson V8 and it's an enormous disappointment. Immediately decided to return on first and again on second run. It's a smoother glide and much prettier design than it's cheaper competition but that's the ONLY superiority. The battery takes hours and hours to charge and I can't even get through a quarter of my modest home before it dies. And for some reason, even this V8 is not cheaper than the Dysons I had previously, the vacuum now shows no visable suction on dirt until the vacuum is literally on top of it. Suction doesn't even seem that strong at all. So sad. Returning stuff is a hassle. Why did they lower battery life and suction???

WASTE OF MONEY!!

WASTE OF MONEY! Do not buy! I love all of my Dyson hair care products, so I assumed I would love their vacuums as well. I was so excited to have this vacuum but I was shockingly disappointed once I used it a few times. First of all, the battery life is extremely short. The description says it will last 40 minutes-but I didn’t even get 10 minutes worth of cleaning time on a full charge! Secondly, you have to hold down the on/off trigger while maneuvering the vacuum around the house. If I am spending this kind of money on a vacuum, I shouldn’t have to sit and hold the on/off button. Third, the description states that it works on hard floors and carpets. However, it completely locks up while attempting to go over any area rug. My $60 vacuum that’s 8 years old works better than this! This was going to be my Christmas gift to myself but I will be returning this tomorrow. I am extremely dissatisfied with this purchase. Please, don’t waste your money on this.

I bought this during a Black Friday sale thinking I'd finally be able to experience the awesomeness of a Dyson. In short, this vacuum is either not a great representation of this brand and they've cut corners on this model to meet a high end Target price point, or the brand is generally overhyped. I have hardwood floors, tile, and low pile area rugs only in my home. We have two dogs and I vacuum just about every other day. This vacuum only cleans well when it's on Max power, and you're lucky if you get the full 20 minutes of battery power that it's supposed to give you when you run it at Max power. The included attachment has barely any suction unless used at max power, and the design of it isn't practical for getting into corners. For the price, it's just not useful enough for a family of four. I almost always end up using my Shark cordless to finish cleaning. Wish I'd saved my money on this one and put it towards a different model.
