e.l.f. Cosmetics Flawless Satin Foundation Snow

I bought this on a whim because it’s one of the few drugstore foundations that indicates the undertone on the label. This one is Beige- Cool Pink Undertones. I had low expectations because e.l.f. has let me down in the past, but this foundation blew me away! First of all, I’m not typically a foundation person. I prefer tinted serums moisturizers usually because I want my skin to look like skin. On prepped moisturized skin, this blends like a dream and gives a great amount of coverage without using much product. I usually do not use a primer other than sunscreen, but sometimes will pat in a light moisturizer over my makeup if it looks a little cakey after blending. It’s not a perfect shade match, as it’s a bit more yellow than I am, but it does cancel out the pink/ red tones in my skin and the match is fine when it’s properly blended. I’m in my early 40s and do not find that this settles into fine lines unless I use too much or need to exfoliate/ moisturize better. How it wears is dependent on my skincare. I usually touch up my makeup a little mid day- powder, blush, concealer, then re-blend. I’m not sure how this would look after 8-10 hours if I didn’t do that. It doesn’t seem to separate or oxidize. It’s worth mentioning that it DOES have a rather strong smell old fashioned fragrance. It reminds me of sitting in the bathroom with my grandmother in the 80s/ 90s, watching her put on makeup. If fragrance isn’t a problem for you, I highly recommend trying this out. It only costs $7 and performs better than a lot of higher end brands IMO.

This is so helpful when picking out foundations to choose from. I noticed if I hadn't used it in a while the bottle needed to be shaken gently just to make sure the product is mixed well. I have oily skin so I like that the product targeted this area. It did feel smooth on the skin and lightweight which is a big deal for me. I like having coverage without the heavy feel. I also really like that the foundation had directions on the best way to use it. The foundation lasted the whole day, I did notice I had to apply powder once because my severe oily skin just couldn't be contained. I absolutely love this product. I have the Flawless Satin Finish in Snow Beige. I ordered online and wasn’t sure if this colour would be too light for me. Thankfully it was perfect for my skin tone. It has a full coverage and most importantly does not settle in wrinkles. You don’t have to use a lot. Just a couple of dots wherever you need it. A little goes a long way. I like to use a mushroom applicator to apply all over. Some days I just use around my eyes and chin area. It doesn’t come off until you take it off. I came across this while I was searching for a foundation for oily, breakout prone, and sensitive skin that is also aging. I came across this stuff, and just bought it today. I applied it in the car, and it did not disappoint me! I bought 220 beige, and my skin just looked like skin, but better. It hid my fine lines and wrinkles, all while providing some much needed moisture. It also kept my skin matte, while giving it a glow. It helped smooth my pores, and even camouflaged the two breakouts that I have on my jaw. The freckles that I have on my nose even came through, without erasing them. After an hour of wear, my skin didn't get oily, which usually happens when I wear foundation. Formula is set up to be just like high end brands, last all day plus more (sad to say I slept in it) the dewy finish really gives the moisturizer look and the matte is beyond matte both textures are amazing and perfectly balanced. I do mix some shades for a better shade for myself. So pro tips if you can’t find your shade get a darker one with a lighter one matching your undertones for a perfect shade. Apply with sponge beauty blender, mix on back of hand, after you squeeze the water out of sponge dab onto product then face for a even coverage, I use the sponge from dollar tree the beauty blender dupe works just the same for only $1.25 compared to $22 at ultra! Great foundation but lose the fragrance please!

I haven't worn a liquid foundation in ages because of how heavy they used to be, but formulas have improved so much in recent years, I decided to try again. I love this foundation. I use barely one pump, dot it all over my face, then blend it out with a foundation brush. It doesn't look like I have anything on my face. It looks like I have perfect skin. The coverage is light to medium depending on how much you apply, but it is buildable if you want a heavier coverage. I would give this product five stars except for two things which numerous other reviewers have mentioned already. One is the perfumey fragrance. Seriously, e.l.f., lose the frangrance! We do not need fragrance in products we're applying to our faces. Not the medium-to-full coverage foundation for me

I almost always use sheer- or light-coverage bases, but I do have a few medium- and full-coverage bases in my collection that are fine but they don't wow me--so I thought I'd try this since it has pretty good reviews and you can't beat the price. I get that the descriptors 'satin' and 'flawless' generally mean that you should expect a finish that falls somewhere between semi-matte and true matte, but holy hell, this finish was masklike; it gave full-on cake-face. After a couple hours of wear, to be completely honest, rather than settling into my skin and making it look a bit more natural, it actually felt kind of dehydrating and my fine lines and dry patches were really emphasized. The best way I can describe it is that my skin felt like paper. I'm cool with a matte finish when the situation calls for it, and there are lots of brands that get it right--many of them comparable in price to this foundation. For me, LA Girl's Pro Matte Foundation and Beauty Creations' Flawless Stay Foundation are a couple examples that fit the bill in the drugstore category that give a true-matte finish, are under $10, have an inclusive shade range, and are simply beautiful on the skin. Unfortunately, Elf's Flawless Finish Foundation is a hard pass for me, and I can't recommend it even to people with no fine lines and the oiliest of skin.

This would've been 4 stars but...

I bought this about two months ago and am just getting around to reviewing it because I was still using another liquid foundation when ordered and I wanted to use it for a few weeks before reviewing.The pros are that the shade was a better match than I thought, I ordered "Snow" as I have lighter skin in the winter and although I usually wear more neutral shades, this slightly cool toned formula blended with a darker product to make a nice even base. The packaging is sturdy and doesn't feel or look cheap. The black pump on top seems to have disengaged from the spring and it just turns around and around causing me to unscrew the bottle and use the "stem" to frame product on my face before blending. Since I can't easily apply it to a blender, my hand or another tool I have used it with another foundation because I can't get the right amount of product for coverage without making a mess.Even so, the formula is smooth and I haven't noticed any oxidation after application. After applying it to my face I use either a stiple brush or short fiber contour brush to spread the foundation outward from the center of my face and follow with a blender (using it dry or with a couple sprays from a medium setting spray. Of course I dab and don't pull or swirl the blender (except on my neck) and before it dries completely I add a powder mix like elf's HD setting powder (translucent with the white added in a 2 or 3:1 ratio).The review is long enough without going in to blush variables etc but suffice to say once it sets it lasts 6-8 hours easily but I've been using reading glasses and find that the sides of my nose need touch-ups or a thicker initial application.Lastly, 3 stars for me is average- not bad by any means and as implied I want to give it 3.5 stars after taking off the star for inconvenient and difficult access to the product after only two uses.
