I'm not going to make the ram argument here; I just know I'm a fairly heavy user and I have no problems whatsoever with 8gbs of ram. It really is enough and there is memory swap that works perfectly as a counter if you are to for some reason exceed your regular 8gbs. I love this Macbook Air M1. I had one in the past with 16gbs and sold it because it was overkill for the price. Now that I just spent less than half with what feels like the same product in usage, I'd recommend this laptop to anybody. Especially windows users. It really is the sweet spot. Plus, this M1 chip is fire, they really outdid themselves. Still, that is only 1/2 of the advertised capacity.Weighing everything, given the fact the laptop was fine everywhere else, I decided to see if I could reach out and get a partial refund to compensate me for the fact that I did not get the advertised storage. I did not want to have to go through the full refund process only to have to reorder a different laptop and potentially get one that had more storage but more issues, too. Walmart informed me that they could not do a partial refund, only a full refund and then I would need to reorder the laptop on my end. They did offer a discount if I went that route, but I did not want to send the one I had back.I reached out to the seller directly and have not heard anything back from them yet. Because the laptop I got is so good otherwise, I can work around the incorrect storage issue, but for another user that may have been a dealbreaker. So the shipping was fast, the laptop looks and runs great, but the incorrect storage detracts from my rating. Still, I cannot say the experience was a bad one this time around.

I personally use GEFORCE and my MacBook runs the game very smoothly. I’m not the gaming type and others might argue the performance of the game on a Macbook is bad but I find it playable. If this incredible performance and graphics come from just the now older M1 chip, then I can only imagine the power of the newer M2 chip. The only cons I find with the device is the USB-C 4 ports. While USB-C is fairly known, it’s not very popular with most people who prefer USB A like myself. The solution is to buy an adapter which sometimes can be pricey. Overall I’d recommend the 2020 Macbook Air M1 to anyone looking for a lightweight powerhouse for light use and for more rigorous technical use. I especially recommend this device to students who are looking for a college-ready laptop.

The next step up would be to pay $999 (before tax) for something like a M2 or M3 Macbook Air, which, in my opinion isn't worth it. Gaming is also not really worth it on Apple devices, because for about the same price you can either build or buy a decent pre-built that will absolutely handle most modern games. But if you play lots of old games or do only light gaming, you should be fine.

Again if you're not a heavy user and only intend on utilizing this for school work, then no big deal.A person at the professional level should utilize no less than 32 GB of Ram ESPECIALLY when using After Effects as it is a very ram-intensive program.GPU is trash. Once again it can handle YouTube videos and online streams, but rendering graphics via Adobe Premiere & After Effects is a NIGHTMARE. Used to be fast, but nowadays I'll wait 5+ minutes for ONE essential graphic to render in my timeline.Their proprietary measurement of 7-Core-this 8-Core-that is extremely frustrating. I bought 2020 MacBook Air. I am a I phone user so I though this would be good for my schooling activities such as writing and incorporating creative pieces of work . I really don’t have time to do all that as I am a full time student in a Master program .Furthermore , sometimes teachers has us download template and when I go looking for them I get a message to duplicate or over write and then when I select an option. And I start writing on template it changes the formatting on templates and these templates are for school so I have to literally go through Microsoft application for it to not change format. This a learning curve and I am an active iPhone user. Please note I really love the color. Of the MacBook Air. And I love the keyboard , and I love the fact that all my applications are on the bottom of the screen . So if you already know how to work a MacBook or MacBook Air this is a good deal it is functional and. Comes with power cord and block. However, there is no Magic Keyboard which, I not sure what that is. I will get used to it in about two weeks my honey told me any new computer I get will be learning curve because that is the way it is these days. So if you know your MacBooks this one is a steal of a price. Ps . This item the shipper put on there that it is needs a direct signature for the item to be released to you. Meaning someone has to be home and sign for the MacBook Air literally. Have blessed day
Great laptop if you can get a deal on itIf it was full price for a 2020 model, with 8gb of ram, and a 256 SSD, this laptop wouldn't have been in consideration in my search. Best Buy had a great deal on it a month ago. I am already in the "Apple Eco-System" so toggling things between my iPad, phone, and MacBook is seamless and fast, just convenience. The 8gb of ram sounds like a joke in 2023 but if you're just doing some basic tasks, ie; a few safari tabs, notes open, test taking, etc, its not going to slow down, its enough since the OS is great at being efficient with that kind of stuff. The soldered on SSD was also concerning but again if you're not a power user downloading a lot of large files I'm sure it'll last a long time. Build quality is also the greatest I have felt personally and while the keyboard is different that anything I've used in the past (mechanical, brown switches) after a month of use I started to like it a lot. Some other small things I've noticed, its VERY thin, not too heavy in a backpack, speakers are loud and sound great, the screen gets fairly bright and is nice to look at, trackpad hasn't been an issue when using different gestures, touch ID hasnt failed me yet, webcam quality and mic are average.If you can get a deal on it and if you're a casual user like myself, I would recommend it all day. I'm in flight school just using it for basic tasks and it does everything that I need it too very well. The only gripe I've had is the 2 USB-C ports, I guess its something you sacrifice with the form factor. Personally I would've given up a few millimeters of its profile and thinness to get some more ports and ease of use. Keep in mind one is used for charging so you only have 1 open port if that time comes

I do wish I could give a good review. I was SO excited to finally purchase myself a laptop. However, this thing does not stay connected to WiFi. It’s frustrating I’ve searched all different kinds of ways to fix this issue. I’ve had issues with this since the MOMENT I bought it. Did I buy the Best Buy warranty? No, because I bought a new unopened MacBook, I guess I thought since it’s new and not refurbished it would be in pristine condition, but I was definitely wrong. It hurts my heart to write such a negative review but I’m upset about this. I’ve restarted my WiFi, the computer, I’ve done a speed test and forget this network.
