After initial calibration, results have been consistent. Espresso is sensitive to small changes so it would be obvious if constant adjustments were required. After several weeks no annoyances like funny noises, sticky buttons, other mechanical issues. No regrets getting the manual instead of version with a timer since I'm weighing every shot.

the grinder reains about 2 grams in the chute, so you need to measure at the portafilter and clear grinds if you want fresh ground beans. If you pull the chute off, there is a gap between the grounds exit and the outside of the product, so it is easy for grounds to fall into the body of the product, which is an annoyance during cleaning. No other issues. Looks nice.

I was having problems dialing in the grind with my 10 year old Rancillo Rocky. The infinite adjustability of the ECM, along with the fine adjustments you can make with the worm drive dial is truly AMAZING!!! Not a cheap grinder for the home barista, but worth every dollar. I am pulling perfect shots again every time.

Excellent grinder!! Once you get used to this grinder you won’t have to waste a whole bag of beans to get a good shot. For me when I change beans I can get a good shot in my second attempt and typically an excellent shot by my third .The first thing I did with this was find zero then backed out 1/4 turn on the large black gear. I ran 3 to 4 pounds of cheap beans to condition the burrs while dialing in finer to find the right texture for espresso. once I pulled a good shot I marked a tooth on black gear with a white line. I always seem to be within one or two teeth of that white line when dialing in.Hope this helps
Moving up from an old Baratza Vario that served me very well. Like the ECM grind bit it grinds so fast that it is difficult to dialing without going through a lot of coffee. So a better starting setting for espresso would save a bit. Love the grinder. It is very basic but makes a great cup. Very minor clumping which does not effect the final basket at all. I am very happy with this grinder and will comment more after I have cleaned it.
While researching and overthinking this purchase I noticed that this unit isn't linked to recommended purchases or noted under best grinders in comparison reviews. Looking at the specs and manufacturer reputation, I decided to give it a try anyway. The grinder is heavy, well built with some quirks and absolutely incredible. I was using a 15 year old Rancillio Rocky with newly replaced burrs and just couldn't get the grind right. One step clockwise was way too fine and one step counterclockwise was too coarse. With the ECM's infinite settings I used a lot of coffee to get dialed in to perfect but found that out of the box was very close. While there are small adjustments needed for different coffee, roast, basket and time of day the ECM gets me close enough to fine ... MoreWhile researching and overthinking this purchase I noticed that this unit isn't linked to recommended purchases or noted under best grinders in comparison reviews. With the ECM's infinite settings I used a lot of coffee to get dialed in to perfect but found that out of the box was very close. While there are small adjustments needed for different coffee, roast, basket and time of day the ECM gets me close enough to fine tune with charge amount/brew temp. The grinder is fast, not dead quiet but the sound frequency is low. The motor is powerful and with the 64 mm burrs 19-20 grams of coffee happens in seconds. The only thing that I didn't care for was the spill tray that seemed like an after thought but that doesn't take away from the stellar quality of the espresso I get now. And yes, it fits under my cabinets. Very happy with this grinder.
Solid grinder where it counts. First impressions out of the box were good. Pretty heavy due to motor which is good in my mind. Stays put on counter, but also a bit cumbersome to move and add beans. I did the dry erase marker alignment test out of the box and...it was spot on! Plastic parts seem really cheap, but they are plastic. The o ring on the base of the hopper fits very tight. Be careful to seat hopper all the way down and use caution when removing hopper. Upward pressure with slight turning will help and it will get easier with time. The worm gear is super precise, I just wish the big collar gear was steel and not plastic. I might upgrade to the steel one. Really hard for me to see the numbers on the plastic one. I was a little worried about the manual dosing, but its pretty easy and intuitive. 18g by sight is easy to achieve. The feel of the push to grind switch is solid and has good reaction, industrial like. There is also a rocker on/off switch on lower right of the machine w LED. I have accidentally left it on all day and night. Not sure it matters, but...I am happy with purchase...quiet, strong, precise and great grind.
This grinder consistently produces uniform, fluffy grounds. What more can you ask of your home grinder! And this one does it effortlessly.
The unique method of setting grinder provides infinite and complete control of grind size. The 64 mm burrs give even grind size throughout. I just wish there was a shorter single-dose bean hopper available to shorten the 16.67 in. height so that I could completely open the cabinet door above.
ECM S-Manuale 64 is a big upgrade from my old burr grinder. Fancy espresso beans find their voice with the fine grind. Goes perfectly with my ECM machine.
