This machine is exceptional. I have years to grow into this machine. It was quite an upgrade from my gaggia classic that got me into the hobby. I can’t say enough great things about it. I did a little modification with weather stripping and duct tape to get the drip tray to sit snug but that’s just me being ocd. Should I have to do things like that? I don’t have to, but this machine was built to last and I couldn’t imagine being happier with any other.

I was looking to upgrade from a Breville Oracle and wanted a quality machine that would give me more control over my espresso. After much searching and agonizing I landed on the ECM Synchronika. I couldn’t be happier with it. The build quality is superb and the machine is gorgeous. I was a little hesitant about the anthracite but when I uncovered it I was extremely happy with my choice. The anthracite has a sparkle to it that pictures just don’t do justice. Also, shout out to WLL. Their sales rep (sorry I forget her name) was very helpful with my order. They shipped it promptly and in a well protected box so the machine arrived unscathed. Now I just have to improve my technique to match the capabilities of the machine.

I have never owned an espresso machine. After talking to 3 online vendors, i chose Hannah at Clive. She built probably 10 different quotes as i changed my mind for months. Absolutely love the fit and finish of the ecm synchronika! Dual boilers and dual gauges help me to know when to start the morning. Reservoir is super easy to fill even if glasses in the warmer. The joysticks are fantastic. I make a cortado and americano every day. Purchased the bottomless portafilter with my points. Love it. Everything is so well made and is absolutely beautiful to look at.

Well, after 7 years my QM67 died last Saturday. It has had a slow cold water leak for some time that I could not locate and the vibratory pump just quit. I didn’t want to pack up something that big and after opening it to replace the steam wand a while back and the little computer before that, I didn’t know how long it would take me to replace the pump without tearing something else up. So, I opted to order a new big box to un pack! The walnut accented version of the Synchronika is quite a beautiful beast. I read many reviews before talking with the sales lady at Clive on Saturday. She confirmed that I would probably like the joystick steam and hot water controls better than knobs and she was right. Crisp on and off is what you get and it just speaks “well made.” On ... Crisp on and off is what you get and it just speaks “well made.” On one review, someone complained the steam pressure was lacking. I am not sure what mine was doing the first three drinks because I was too busy watching the milk froth much faster than I am used to. Rest assured there is plenty of steam pressure.Another criticism was that the drip tray is “loose.” I figured out quickly that the little bit of slack is just enough to allow the tray to slide out enough so that one can lift it out without spilling. It is not as deep as the QM67’s but it makes for some space between the bottom of the tray and the countertop. Pretty sure it was engineered this way.It will take a little while to get my grind just right as the rotary pump pressurized much quicker than the vibratory pump making me think my grind was too coarse on the first shot. Next shot it took too long to get 30gm out, so I have a little work to do. That is just one more thing that makes espresso and espresso drinks so much more than drip coffee. After a brief experience, I feel it is safe to recommend ECM’s product. I would add that since most vibratory pumps go out in around five years, it makes sense to spend a little more up front, to save on repairs or replacement after a few years.
Had the machine a few weeks now. It is plumbed in. Using an aftermarket bottomless portafilter and a precision 20g basket.Does NOT have an “on/off timer” as often reported on websites. It has an eco off timer that can turn the machine off a certain time period after the last shot is pulled. No “on” timer. Luckily the machine has a physical on switch so any wall timer can be used to schedule the machine.Out of the box, milk steamer is really weak. Takes over a minute to steam a single cup worth of milk. Starts at 1.5bar and can drop to 1bar while frothing the milk. Unsure why the machine would be setup so badly. Milk is only so-so.After pulling a shot the pressure is released directly into the water waste tray. This often results in small amounts of water ... MoreHad the machine a few weeks now. Seems like a poor design. The actual shot of coffee is excellent. Makes a great coffee.
The ECM Synchronika is the most beautiful and classic espresso machine. The dual boiler is a must for frothing while pulling a shot. Major steam power! The machine is engineered exquisitely and is easy to access for maintenance through the side panels. This machine was a huge upgrade and is a machine I hope to grow with and appears to be built to last. I absolutely love making my espresso every morning using my ECM Synchronika.
I've waited a year to review this machine and it is everything they say it is. Of course it makes coffee and steams milk but it's the way it goes about doing it that's the real joy. The pump is super quiet, the steaming wand was powerful out of the box but an upgrade to the 4-hole tip really takes it to another level. The finish of this machine might be the most impressive thing about it though. It's a work of art compared to my former machines (Gaggia Classic, Expobar Office Lever). It's just so enjoyable to use. I clean according to the schedule and have not had any issues with it in over a year, it just consistently puts out perfect espresso and steamed milk. I like the flow control okay but I can't help to think that if pressure profiling is something you're really after this might not be the machine for you. I did upgrade my old Rancilio grinder to a Ceado almost immediately upon receipt of the ECM. It just outclassed the Rancilio and needed something more substantial to pair with. I can't recommend the E37s enough either, it's been fantastic.
This machine is incredible and I appreciate Clive's pre-shipment inspection/setup. It produces consistent shots once you're dialed in, which as you know changes daily. After one month of using the reservoir, I had the machine plumbed in with a different filtration system than offered at Clive's. A directly plumbed-in espresso machine is a game-changing convenience. I've filled reservoirs on my various machines for over 15 years, and I'm glad that's over. What needs to be changed emphatically is the plumbed drain tray system provided by ECM. The drip tray is large and should be fashioned to be directly connected to a drain hose, but instead you're given a small plastic tub that fits under the main tray to allow connection to a drainage hose. The drip tray is large and should be fashioned to be directly connected to a drain hose, but instead you're given a small plastic tub that fits under the main tray to allow connection to a drainage hose. It's far too small for even a home user and will ultimately spill over as you make your espressos. For the cost of the machine, this is an easy and essential fix. Whether they provide a large plastic 3D-printed tub or the part (available, but difficult to get stateside) to directly connect the stainless drip tray to a hose, we need to get ECM and Clive's, as their distributor, to fashion a new system. Please make it so!The machine also has strong and consistent steam pressure for making your cappuccinos and other milk-based drinks.I'd deduct 1/2 star for the poor drainage system on an otherwise amazingly well-crafted machine, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy this again from Clive's. Their service has been amazing!
this machine is incredible. totally way more than I need at home but it is like bringing a bazooka to a knife fight and a true piece of working art every time I make coffee. it is quiet, well built, and has amazing steam power. very easy to use and it is a nicer machine than my HX profitec machine I had before. thanks so much for the fast shipping and great customer service, you have really held out on your end, considering I have dealt with other large vendors in the same industry.
A comment on the poor design of this machine. The lever to activate the water flow is put in one position for pre-infusion and another position for pulling the shot. When put into the pre-infusion position sometimes it doesn't trigger the switch and no water flows. It takes only a slight bump of the machine to activate the switch and start the water flow.Earlier this week someone managed to move the lever to the pre-infusion position without triggering water flow when they were cleaning the machine. At a later time that day, the switch did trigger (somehow) and started the pre-infusion water flow. The machine was turned off at the time. The result was 5+ hours of water being released into the kitchen. Drawers under the machine ruined, hardwood floors ruined, books ... The water also flowed into the basement destroying the hot water service and other electrical equipment. While it's human error that resulted in the great flood of 2022, it is still a poor design. I sincerely regret ever buying this thing.
