I replaced my Audioengine 2 speakers with the Edifier S880DB as I wanted to hear every instrument in the music that I was listening to. The Edifier speakers are amazing, my music has never sounded so good. It is a vast improvement and I am now listening to all of music again and enjoying it much much more. These speakers are one of my favorite purchases. I can now hear every little detail in music, things I have never heard before. The only area of improvement for the speakers is the noise floor, it could be lower. You can hear a hiss when you place your head near the speaker. Sitting at your desk at a regular distance you will not notice it.

The sound that comes out of this set of 2.0's is amazing. The profile is still comparable to the lower models (which are also phenomenal). Going any higher model than these increases the profile quite a bit. I have limited desk space and these are snug.

These are the most expensive speakers I've ever owned. Got them when one of my 5.1 speakers either failed or came disconnected, it would be too hard to get to if it had. So intended as a long term buy. I've used them over my motherboards optical connection and on my current usb, device manager doesn't seem to know what they are over usb but they work great and sound is superb either way. Just remember on usb to reboot your system to get sound working and using your fastest usb 3 port works best. The annoyance is the remote control. It feels like quality for a small round device it has some real weight but it is short ranged, but that's not my issue. Where the annoyance comes in is the coin type battery it uses, mine won't go in flat, which means I can't put the ... MoreThese are the most expensive speakers I've ever owned. Last night I accidentally put my hand on the remote making it jump and the back piece and cell flew out and it takes several attempts to get the cell connecting again. Not the first time the backs come off either about the third I think. Currently put it on a non-slip pad and trying to operate a no moving policy from now on. Just a silly problem to have with an otherwise superb product, they even come with every cable you should need.

For a reasonable size, you get very impressive sound quality in addition to the beautiful design. Very pleasant sound. I tried a number of different compositions, both pop and classical: Jean Michel Jarre Oxigene Shostakovitch second waltz Sia Cheap Thrills Modern Talking Great 60s guitar album Chopin solo piano compositions A variety of piano and violin concertos etc Rarely need higher than 70 % volume level to fill a three-room apartment. If you are a picky classical music fan and have a lot of room at home, buy one of the shelf models with 3-way speakers such as Edifier R2750DB or R2850DB.
Pros:Aesthetically appealing, great built quality, Bluetooth pairing, sound quality is great, hefty remote control, no static/hissing sounds when cranked up. Cons: Bass is a bit lacking, no sub-out but can be worked around with additional cable(s) (not included) but you lose Bluetooth function, remote control layout is a bit bothersome with the volume + & - buttons close to the power and source buttons,
With the default soundcard on my 2007 MacPro it sounded a bit unbalanced, but when I added the Hifime Sabre DAC 9018 it became amazing! Sub was more in sync and mids soooo nice! Very great system with the right sound equipement!
Upgraded my computer speakers to the Edifier S880DB and have been really impressed with the quality.
The design is beautiful but the workmanship is not good enough where has paint residuum and gap around the edge. Also the bass is very weak even you turn the bass increase button to max so it's not good to listen Hip-Pop music.
Vocals are excellent, details well rendered and the soundstage is wide. One negative, there is nothing below 70hz, but that was expected. Pity it doesn't have sub output.
I've had my eye on these speakers since late 2020, but didn't bite the bullet until recently, very happy I did. These speakers sound so much better than the Razer Nommo speakers I had before, base is much more defined and the tweeter helps with high frequency output. Anyone out there who regularly uses their PC to play games, watch movies or listen to music should consider investing in a pair of nice bookshelf speakers.
