Thankfully whatever the safety feature was - worked. Replaced with Wickes own brand which worked equally as well and more importantly did NOT burn out.

Product should be withdrawn, it is not a safe product. After around 5-6 hours of use (not continuous) the lower setting broke and the heat gun flared to hot/very hot before the lower setting stopped working.Tried using the higher setting which got extremely hot and blue sparking seen before I turned off and got rid of the product. Extremely unsafe, plastic guard also melted.Do not buy.

This has only been used for about 4 hours in total over 18 months and the heating element has gone. Very poor quality product. I'm now looking for something that will be up to the job required.

Excellent piece of kit, especially for the quite low cost. Bought for stripping paint from a large Edwardian door with many layers of paint. Did the job brilliantly, though I soon removed the paint scraper attachment as it fairly soon accumulated debris. I used a cheap scraper with it and this also allowed me to heat a larger surface before scraping. Definitely recommend.
The first one burnt out in 30 minutes. The heating coil is very thin and snapped from over heating. It was replaced and the new one i use for 10 min allow to cool then use again. Make sure you dont get any dust or debris on the coil as this will make it snap again. I think you would have the same problems with any of the cheaper models.
This was very good for the price. Used it to strip paint of a door frame,but the second time I used to complete the job it stopped working. No problem tool station had 12 month Warranty on it. I had a refund because I finished the job sanding.
It did the job very nicely. For a few days, then the element burnt out and it stopped working. The good thing is that Wickes gave me a replacement without any quibbles -- I wanted to get the Wickes own brand one as the replacement, because their own brand stuff seems to be quite good, it was out of stock. So I've got a heat gun that is working fine, but who knows how long that will continue?
Budget heat gun that comes with all the accessories in its own case. Lightweight and easy to use. So far its done all Ive asked of it that includes stripping paint from several doors. Id originally intended buying a Bosch heat gun but you have to buy the accessories separately making it very expensive. Highly recommended.
Purchased this heat gun from wickes only to find out it came with a European plug. I then went and brought a travel adaptor to convert to a UK fitting. I then went to use the heat gun only for it not to work at all. USELESS product. I purchased a cheaper model from a different store and this works perfectly.
I bought this to replace a heat gun that I’d had for years. My old one had two heat settings as did this one. However, this one was very fickle and regardless of which heat setting I choose, it might decide on high or low depending on who knows what? It was cheap, and did what I needed it to do so no harm done but would I recommend it? Probably not.
