In a word, amazing. i just received these speakers and haven't even used these for a gig yet but i can tell they are going to be a great addition to my system. i purchased these powered speakers for doing ceremonies and things of that nature. Since everything i currently had was passive it was necessary to lug my audio rack everywhere i went which obviously with several amps was not an easy thing to do. Even at home with my iPad just playing random songs i was impressed with the sound quality and even the low end. Obviously this is not an 18" speaker so if you have a large venue or event you would be smart to couple with a sub and activate the HPF. I did just that the other night for a party and i couldn't believe the quality and just how hard these speakers drive! ... MoreIn a word, amazing. i just received these speakers and haven't even used these for a gig yet but i can tell they are going to be a great addition to my system. i purchased these powered speakers for doing ceremonies and things of that nature. Our normal system has 4 15" mains and 1 18" sub. i drove these 12's just as hard as my normal system to the point of the amp for the sub being at clip. These speakers still had more to go, and they still sounded amazing and clear even pumping that hard. The amp i use for our sub is a 1500 watt peavey and it gets bridged to a single unit so don't think it is quiet. As i stated, i have not used these at a gig yet so they haven't seen any road use, however i sincerely look forward to testing these in the field as i think they will do more than what we needed to! i think these could easily be primary mains for weddings and things of that nature as long as you use a sub! They look fantastic too! EV has always been top notch and I am super glad i invested in these incredible speakers! The only other thing i need to say is BUY SOME! And of course don't forget your covers!! These are too pretty not to protect!

If you're looking at this speaker, you're also probably looking at similar stuff within anywhere from the 200-600 price range. If that's the case, then stop looking, because you've found your new speakers. I have owned several comparable Behringer and Mackie speakers, and let me say, there is no comparison. When comparing stats of comparable speakers (watts, sensitivity, frequency range, etc.), you could drive yourself mad just trying to figure out where the bang for your buck will be. But after hearing these, I can confidently say they are:1) LOUD - Coming from my mixer I had various XLR, line-in, and aux signal levels at -6 db to 0 db, and given a good signal like that, I had the speaker set at -10 db and it sounded great and just loud enough for all the bars ... MoreIf you're looking at this speaker, you're also probably looking at similar stuff within anywhere from the 200-600 price range. There is a point where it gets harsh and high, but you'll just never get there. It's that loud.2) VERSATILE - I love the DSP settings, and the ability to set EQ (at least high and low). It would work well as a monitor, but I use it for mains. I use it on "music" mode, and I bump the bass EQ up +3 db. It's certainly not a sub, and it drops off quick at anything lower that 100hz, but I find it has enough bass to carry a band in a small bar setting. Just get them up high on some poles so that people's bodies don't absorb too much of it.3) CLEAR and TRANSPARENT - I don't know if it's the split baffle or the DSP or what, but the high and low frequencies sound separated, clear, and whole. It sounds so good. Compared to my old Behringers or Mackie Thumps, it is just a more whole sound profile. It's as if your signal is running through a BBE exciter or something. Only complaint is a little bit of hiss/noise floor from the horn when the speaker is set anything above -6 db on the master. Would only ever be heard in a quiet room, and is expected at this price point. Not an issue, but it's there.

Good quality sound for smaller functions.

I’m reviewing this product as a wedding Dj. Really good quality sound, in my opinion suitable for around 100 guests. What I like is that there is a display screen on the back of the speaker letting you know when you’ve reached your sound limit. This should help with a common problem i have blowing speakers. Little bit awkward to carry and mount as it only has one handle on the side and one at the top.

Great product

I purchased this speaker while I was in AZ as a snow bird. Our Keyboard amp quit working, and when it come to ordering a new amp, I started looking at Powered speakers. $$/ watt this was cheaper, more versatile, easier and lighter to carry. This is the 1st powered speaker I ordered. Thinking like an old school (powered mixer/amp passive speakers type of guy) I could use this as a keyboard amp. We ordered it and and the sales man said it would take about a week to get here. I was sent the tracking Number. I was able to following the speaker, online. it was shipped from the East coast. The shipping time was great until it got to New Mexico. I set there for (3 Dam DAYS) before it was sent to me. It worked flawlessly. We even hooked a 5 string base to it and there was no distortion even when we hit the Low B. Granted we didn't hit it hard, but it worked flawlessly.when we got back home in Moorhead MN. I had a Peavey 600 W/channel amp with 2 Passive Peavey speakers I wasn't using anymore. I traded them in for another EV12ZLX powered speaker. Thank you ProAudio Star for the EV12ZLX speakers, and for getting me started on Powered speakers. I should mention, My wife is the musician. I'm just her Roadie.

Great sound quality at a reasonable price

After doing a lot of shopping around looking at Mackie, QSC, and JBL products as potential alternatives, I kept coming back to these because they had the best combination of sound quality and features at a reasonable price.I use them for mobile DJ/events where I don't need insane sound pressure, so for my purposes the bass is adequate and how I like it - relatively tight. I pair this with a Serato/Pioneer DDJ SR set-up and the sound quality is great. I also use them at home for music listening and karaoke nights. My music collection is pretty diverse, and so far everything from Philip Glass to the Freelance Whales to RJD2 sounds solid on them at volume. While that wasn't my personal use, it sealed the deal. While I have been impressed with the sound quality and output of QSC products, these give you nearly all of the bang for half the buck.

Great sound, easy transport!

I like most everything about these. Have used on their own just plugging a mic and guitar or sound track into the back. Mostly we run a small mixer to these which also works just great. The only thing it lacks in my opinion is blue tooth connection but for approx $50 you can purchase an add on that does that. Highs and lows reproduce very well but I did add a sub for a touch more coverage on the deep side.

Use high quality gold cables to eliminate minor hiss and deliver a strong line signal (obscenely expensive for cables, but worth it). I also use a mixer for EQ adjustment, compression, and a very small touch of reverb. If you perform a lot, I'd also recommend getting the speaker covers. While the plastic cabinets are relatively light and easy to transport and lift onto the poles, they scuff easily. To keep them looking nice, invest in the covers. Most speakers sound pretty good at low volumes in a small room, making comparisons nearly impossible. So kudos to Sam Ash, where I could compare speakers from 100 feet away (where your audience will be).

For some reason I own 3 of these. I love them. They sound great and they are in the sweet spot for power and portability. I got these probably when they first came out and they've been present at every gig since. On the practical side, the weight is back friendly at around 30lbs (I don't know what that is in stones). They're a bit scuffed here and there but they pretty much look new. The sound is well balanced and takes eq'ing well, the band always sounds great. There's even some built in digital modeling for different rooms although to be honest, we never really mess with it. In really big shows, these become our monitors. I have been running the QSC K12 and I absolutely loved them so I was hesitant to get a speaker that cost Minnie Mouse like me more than a third of the cost of the QSCs. But for some reason I had a good feeling and I ordered them anyways. First of all they look absolutely amazing aesthetically. But then I plug them in and the sound is fantastic. They actually have a digital control 2 adjust the sound which is a lot more thton the QSC has and the sound was amazing. I'm nervous that they may break easily but that has yet to happen. And I'm hoping that it won't.The speakers are beyond impressive.
