This product is terrible. I have to spend at least five to ten minutes before every video call pulling this product in and out of the USB port because it is always missing either the green channel or the red channel, and the image is a weird color. Also, the DSLR camera has to be readjusted for focus constantly and doesn't retain the previously fixed focal point. It's annoying, and I cannot recommend anyone ever to be hassled this way with a product meant to carry the image from a camera to the computer without such interruptions.

I made sure it was plugged on a USB 3.0, I tried isolating it by removing ALL my other peripherals (didn't change anything), plugging it on my front panel USB, I tried every camera setup, going from 4K30fps to 1080p 25fps...On my camera screen and no matter the resolution it is always very smooth and great quality but when streaming or recording through OBS there's a big latency.I tried contacting Elgato's support but no answer, neither on Twitter nor by email. [Rewarded Review] Cam Link works out of the box with right camera
22 February 2022

I've been using both a built-in camera and Logitech webcam for the past two years for both online work meetings and online Dungeons & Dragons games (via Zoom). We started streaming some of our D&D games on Twitch, so I wanted to use my Canon Rebel T5i compact DSLR for a better video. I checked the Elgato website and noticed that my camera was not listed, which I read to mean that neither Elgato nor Canon confirmed the T5i would work with the Cam Link. So I bought it anyway to try it. I can confirm that the T5i does not work as expected for video calls and live streaming. So I replaced the Canon with a Sony A7C. I can confirm that the A7C works, as long as you use a micro-HDMI (not mini) to HDMI cable. The Cam Link is plug-and-play for both Mac (my home computer is ... MoreI've been using both a built-in camera and Logitech webcam for the past two years for both online work meetings and online Dungeons & Dragons games (via Zoom). I can confirm that the A7C works, as long as you use a micro-HDMI (not mini) to HDMI cable. The Cam Link is plug-and-play for both Mac (my home computer is a late 2013 Macbook Pro 15) and Windows (my work computer is a 2021-22 HP Elitebook). Elgato recommends using their Camera Hub software for Mac (free download from their website), and it works fine on my 8-year-old laptop. The Cam Link is pretty wide, so Elgato included an 8-inch USB-A extension (pictured) so users like me can plug it into the the USB port next to the HDMI port. One thing to note is that Elgato states on its website that the Cam Link only works in a root USB port, and my attempt to use it with a USB hub (mine is not powered) did not work. The video image through the Cam Link looks really good, especially when I use a low-aperture lens to blur my background in-camera. I suggest checking your camera settings to make sure that it doesn't shut down during a longer session (this has to do with the camera, not the Cam Link). I ran a four-hour game over Zoom and didn't run into any issues while using the Cam Link.I chose to give the Cam Link five stars because the Cam Link itself is plug-and-play, and Elgato maintains useful information on its website. This dongle exceeds my expectations from both set up and effectiveness, and it even works with my dinosaur of a computer. The included short cable makes it easy to plug into any USB-A port. It may seem pricey, but I find the support and the ease-of-use make it worth the cost.

[Rewarded Review] Does it's job
27 March 2024

If you're looking for a capture card that JUST does it's job and you're tight with money, this card will do it's job for sure. But if you're a FPS gamer or you care about how long it takes for you to move your joy stick on your controller or to move your mouse and see that in real time, save up money for a better card. The time it takes to translate the image from the source to whatever your capture card is plugged in to is going to feel sluggish. It's a USB capture card, so I'm hoping your hopes for this card weren't high before you read this review to begin with. If you're looking for minimal input delay, go get a HDMI in to HDMI out capture card. I don't recommend this card much for gaming. Anything else? Absolutely.

[Rewarded Review] Great for certain Cameras

Hello everyone! This is a great product if you have the right camera because in some cases, you don't necessarily need this item. For example, I have a Sony A7 III and a Sony A7, both of which have something called Sony Cam Link. It picks up the video without the need for a video encoder and it's free. The $100 price is a bit hard to swallow since there are options available for a lot less. However, if you have an older camera that doesn't have this feature, then this is a great option if you would like to be able to use it in other situations. It opens up a lot of doors for you. When you do use it, it's super simple. Just plug and play, which is great. [Rewarded Review] Great interface for video content streaming
12 January 2024

This product is the missing link from my video streaming activities that gave me the ability to stream live rather than just posting recorded content to Youtube and Facebook. It provided a quality interface between my laptop running OBS and my 4K camcorder. I was impressed with the stable video and audio content conversion from the HDMI output of my camcorder into the USB inout to my laptop. It produced high quality 60 fps in my first 1080P streams. Highly recommend this small but effective tool.

So ive had this for about 2 weeks and im debating returning it because it works but it has alot of connection issues. Im using a Sony ZV-E10 with a smallrig micro HDMI to full size HDMI adapter with a cage and it works 100% with my tv and even with my Yolobox Pro so its definitely bot the adapter or cable. So if you are ok with having to keep reconnecting your cam link to your USB Port then go for it but for me as i type this review, im leaning towards returning it and spending $200.00 more on the 4K60FPS webcam they have to offer.

[Rewarded Review] Just stopped working after 2 months
25 June 2024

I used the product for my Sony A7rii into my laptop with OBS capture as a YouTuber. I’ve been using it for recording 2hrs at a time twice a week. I use it one day a week for Google meet meetings for 2hrs at a time. After 2 months of this it quit working. It just sends an image that’s mostly static. It has always gotten pretty hot since the first time I used it. Nothing changed in my setup. It simply quit working from normal, careful wear. It’s sad & frustrating.

If you’re not comfortable with modding your camera (assuming there’s modded firmware that can bypass your camera’s auto shutoff feature), I would find a different camera that natively has the option to disable auto shutoff if cost isn’t an issue.Integration with SLOBS (StreamLabs OBS) is fantastic. I can use the CamLink 4K alongside my Elgato 4k60 PRO with zero issues. I can also switch between PC and console game scenes and the CamLink is not affected and doesn’t lag.All in all, I have zero complaints about the Elgato CamLink 4k, and I would recommend this product to a friend.PC SPECS:MOBO - Asus ROG Strix Z390-F Gaming LGA 1151 (300 Series)GPU - Asus ROG Strix 1080CPU - Intel Core i9 9900KRAM - Corsair 32GB DDR4
