Transformed my training. Hard work! Superb piece of kit. Clever but simple and effective design.

Just a guy with a Trek fitness bike. Several years after purchasing the bike, Covid-19 helped me see it as probably the last outdoors option, above walking, that I can do to improve my fitness. The price wasn't outrageous. The set-up took all of 7 minutes. The first 10-minute workout left me assured I will be able to avoid starting from scratch at the start of my 2nd season on 2 wheels. The unit isn't loud, and I've spent the first couple of workouts in easier gears, as the resistance is more than enough.

At first when I tried it with the mountain wheel it made a lot of noise, it was difficult to pedal and then I thought it was defective. Buy a special tire for roller and everything is perfect, I can listen to music with the mobile and give it a reed that does not make almost noise, I am delighted with the product. Of course, if you have not done a roller like me at the beginning it costs a little but after a few weeks of training you notice more strength in the legs.

Very happy with the purchase. The truth is that we have used it every day in the use of two people and it works very well, it does not make almost noise, the resistance is controlled by raising or lowering pinions. It is a good training and the truth is that we are very happy. assembly is easy and has no complications. To put a serious catch the weight, it is not very light to transport but otherwise we give it a 10

Good product for the money

I've used the Power Fluid for two seasons now and it's been reliable when in use and easy to store out of the way whe not with the pivoting axle allowing you to collapse to only a few inches high. It's very easy to set up (be sure to use "indoor skewer", regular QR skewers won't hold properly), simply align the skewer in the arms of the Trainer and close the locking lever. It's very quiet, silent actually, when using the Vitoria Zaffiro tyre with the only noise coming from the bike drivetrain. It provides great stability with just a little bit of wiggle room to give you a better road feel. I think this wiggle is good in preventing unwanted stress through your frame.I feel this Trainer provides more resistance than on the road. I can typically ride high gears (large front, mids on the rear) at 30-35kph outside, but here I'm working really hard to maintain 25-28; it requires a lot of effort to pull the same gear over 100 rpm. Though not consistent, I find this is beneficial to making me stronger over the winter. This is a competitive price-point with options from TacX, Kurt Kinetic, and CycleOps, but if you're worried about the Power Fluid I think you can rest easy knowing you will get a well-made unit that will offer a stable platform for winter workouts.

Great resistance curve, quiet, not the most stable
28 November 2015

My wife and I bought this to replace a lower-end Minoura mag trainer. We looked at this design because the bike's rear axle is hinged, so any flat spots in the wheel or tire mounting issues won't change the resistance. (Other units fix the rear wheel position, and have a sprung hub for the roller.)As expected, this unit compensates very well for any out of flat in the rear wheel. Also, the resistance curve is great (quite lifelike), and the gelled roller is very quiet. I would have a lot of trouble breaking traction with the rear wheel. The bike's gearing provides graduated resistance - with a 2x10 road bike setup, this bike provides a good, wide resistance range. However, I can't say I've been in danger of falling and it's something you get used to. The quick release mechanism makes it nice and easy to change bikes quick.I'd recommend it and don't regret the purchase at all. I think this unit's a good 'sweet spot' - I don't crave any more resistance changes. Comparable units from other manufacturers cost a bit more.

Nice, light and little noisy
23 March 2020

It is the first roller I have and I like it for being quite quiet. It is easy to assemble and elegantly designed. It does not weigh much and can be folded well for storage. Powerful enough for most mortals, allows you to apply enough watts to perform a good workout,

Very good
17 April 2016

I bought this trainer early in February and rode on it for a few months. It's going to be put away now, but it very much got me in shape for the season. I use it in front of the TV mostly. It has plenty of resistenance, which can be adjusted by switching gears on the bike. It's very quiet, especially after I put a Continental home trainer tire on my bike. And it did squeak initially, which I fixed by greasing the mounts that grab on to the wheel's quick release.I'm using an old yoga mat underneath on hardwood floor. It's great.

Thanks to this tool you can continue to train even if you are forced to lock down at home. Ok for any bike. Tires with smooth tread should be used so that it is not noisy. If you have a disc brake, an adapter pin for the rear wheel must be purchased separately. I am very satisfied. Thanks

first fluid trainer
22 January 2016

I did a lot of research on trainers and decided to try a fluid trainer. I had not heard of the Elite and couldn't really find all that much info online about it. But the reviews on the MEC site seemed positive so I gave it a shot as it was on sale. I have had 2-1hr. rides on it so far and I am happy with my purchase. It is really quiet, was easy to set up and has a very realistic road feel to it. I train with heart rate zones and my 2 workouts have been very similar in gearing to what I would have been using on a flat road. No slip in the rear tire. It does seem to flex a bit while I am out of the saddle sprinting but I am guessing that this is as much a product of me just learning how to ride on a trainer. Up until now I have been on rollers so it is a new thing ... MoreI did a lot of research on trainers and decided to try a fluid trainer. Up until now I have been on rollers so it is a new thing for me. So far I am happy, only gave it 4 on the overall because to be a five it will need to last for many years.
