Elixir Guitar Strings Acoustic Nanoweb 80/20 Light 12-53

(2,376 reviews)

Prolong your tone with the same acoustic guitar strings that experienced players worldwide trust to keep their incredible tone longer than any other string available.Unlike other string brands, Elixir Strings coats the whole string. This protects not only the outer string surface but also the gaps between the windings where common tone-deadening gunk typically builds up in other brands’ coated and uncoated guitar strings. Anti-Rust Plating on plain steel strings ensures longer tone life for the entire set.Who wouldn’t love more quality playing time between the hassle and cost of string changes? Premium by design, these acoustic strings constructed with 80/20 (80% copper, 20% zinc) bronze wrap wire boast a crisp, bright tone with an expressive, vibrant presence. Compared to Elixir's original Polyweb Coating, the ultra-thin Nanoweb Coating allows a more traditionally textured, “uncoated” feel. For a slicker, gentler feel, try the original Polyweb Coating on their 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Strings, which also feature a more robust and rounded tone. For more of a balance between bold and bright, Elixir's Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with Nanoweb Coating deliver full-bodied tone and sparkling high-end clarity alongside the same traditional feel as these 80/20 bronze strings. Of course, the kind of string you play is all a matter of personal preference. Not sure what tone or feel is right for you? Try them out for yourself, and find your new favorite string from Elixir Strings. For a more in-depth look at what makes our strings so special, scroll to the branded info further down the page.

out clearly & last long. I was once away from home and had to borrow an old guitar but happened to have brought a pack of elixirs with me. I cahnged the strings and
immediately got comments on how amazing of a guitar I had. Don't worry about the expense; the long life is well worth it.

I'm Sold On Elixir Strings!
24 September 2021
I've been a musician for 50 years. I've used all major string brands. I tried my first set of Elixir Strings when they were introduced in 1997, and I was sold. Since then I've used them exclusively. Yes, their tone is long lasting and that extends time between string changes. Both are desirable attributes. However, my favorite quality of Elixir Strings is they reduce finger noise, and that simply makes me sound better. Elixir Strings are the only strings I know that improve the sound of my performance.... Show more

I started using these even before I was a Taylor owner

I have a very acidic nature to my hands and could destroy a set of strings in about 4 hours. Started using Elixirs about 20 years ago. Now maybe not as bright as others when first installed but they maintain their tone many times longer than others I've tried. I have experimented a few times trying other brands, but have not found any that stand up as well. I always seem to come back to Elixirs.... Show more

Seeing how these were the strings used on all my high end Yamaha acoustics from the A3R ARE which is a dreadnought with a cutaway, torrefied spruce top, solid rosewood back and sides as well as the awesome SRT2 pickup system which has a mic blend between 2 high end condenser mics coating over $1000 I also have the new Yamaha Red Label FGX3. Which has a torrefied spruce top and solid Mahogany back and sides this also has an awesome Pickup system the atmosfeel pickup which has an undersaddle piezo, an under the saddle mic, as well as a new technology sheet transducer. It also gives you the knobs and all instructions. Overall, since I loved the sound of the Elixir 80/20 Nanoweb coating, light.... Show more

These musical little buggers started to produce fine songs straight away - hit record I yelled to the producer as the first D chord rang out in the studio . I quickly added a Gm , F maj7 and an Adim to the mix and the race was on ! The pure clean sound of the elixir strings are amplified by the generosity of the maton 808.. they can produce a sweet ethereal tone which continually satisfies . Yes to the elixir yes yes yes. Ive said it 4 times and now once more yes ! These are very nice stringy wings - chuck em on yeah ! You will be amazed! Give em a whirl ! Gooo on ! I bought 2 sets Why dont you ? Cant go wrong ! Yes Very Very Good Ive got to go now... Show more

Sitting on shelf too long
11 June 2017
This was a great price on my favorite strings. Shipping was very fast too. Unfortunately, "new" does not mean the same as"fresh" and I have now learned the difference. These do seem to be genuine Elixers, but a few problems which led to broken strings may indicate that these were either sitting on a shelf for a very long time or else exposed to moisture. Normally, brand new strings will be very springy when you first take them out of the sleeve. They generally will uncoil into a straight line, but every single one of these maintained a strong curl or twist in it. But that alone was not a problem for me. The strings installed normally and tuned well, but the tonal quality seemed a little sub-par compared to what I was used too. Still, it's possible I was just imagining that. The strings were fine for a month. Held there notes as well as any, and the tone was at least decent, though I still felt it was missing something. But after one month I had the B string break. I usually keep Elixer strings for 6 months before they finally lose their great tone and I replace them, and because I wind plenty of extra string around the posts, I haven't had a string break on me in over 8 years. Breaking one now pretty much confirmed my earlier suspicions. I went ahead and replaced all 6 strings with the next set, but 2 weeks later and the high E string broke on me. For now I'm borrowing the high E from the final set, but the first chance I get I will be replacing every string with a new, fresh set from a local music store. I don't think I'll buy strings online again because of this apparent problem of freshness.... Show more

Long lasting, great sound. I went to my girlfriends sisters home for Xmas and a few guys got a some guitars out and we played some rock, country and bluegrass on Elixers strung on acoustic instruments. They claimed the strings were three years old. They sounded quite good for their age. After seeing a John Paul Jones interview where he said Elixers were all he used. I already used them but his opinion completely sold me. I even bought an Elixer tee shirt. I use them on all my guitars and mandolins. I won't settle for anything else. I just bought a FX5 that had Addario's on it. No pause, I replaced them with Elixers. Great sound. Long lasting. Stay good looking too. Buy multiple set bundles and save money.... Show more

Worth every penny!!!!!!

The main reason I purchased this instrument was to have the ability to travel, play outside in the present climate. It's almost a disposable guitar. Not a negative against the instrument. I am not going to bring my Strat or Yamaha out to the fire, by the river or sitting on the porch during a rainstorm. Worth every dollar and every dollar I did not have to spend. GOOD VALUE, SOUND and SIZE. HAPPY!!!!... Show more
