You learn a bit each day and test your knowledge with exercises. There are also additional exercises at the back of the book (a sort of exam).
Raymond Murphy, English grammar in use (fifth edition ) book is one of excellent book I have used so far. He has described complicated English grammar in easy way.

This book is of great help to my Ukrainian guests who are learing to speak English. Since I bought a copy for them I have had to answer much fewer questions about the English language. They are able to readily understand the content and happily undertake the skills development questions. Being able to look up the answers allows them to progress at their own pace and understand if they need to review a topic which they have not fully understood.
