The lid of the pitcher keeps coming off no matter what we do. The water is fantastic which is the main reason behind the purchase, it's just unfortunate that the lis pops off from time to time.

I was so excited to try my new alkaline pitcher, the pitcher claims to make your waters ph level 8.5 - 9. A Neutral ph level is 7. Regular tap water is around 6.8 to 7 ph. I followed directions on how to prep & setup the pitcher, filled it tried it & tested the water. Unfortunately the ph was 6.8. I refilled the pitcher a second time and retested the water but there was no change. I'm not sure if it is just this version of pitcher from this brand or if all of them are like this. Maybe the filter was just a bad one I'm not sure but I'm really disappointed with the outcome.

Purchased this Alkaline Pitcher a recently hoping it would prove being worth it, nope. The filter system has it own timer for the filter as a result if you're like our house hold and don't go through a pitcher but perhaps once or twice a week you will find that the filter by design clogs up. Pretty sure this happens with the system day counter to cause you to have to spend $15.00 on a new filter although you really didn't use your filter, rip off. Oh, and when you call customer service they don't return your call, hence here I am. Find a different product I am sure there are better products with a better replacement procedure for the filter. By the way we only refilled this pitcher 8 times not even close to what this filter is suppose to treat before needing to be ... MorePurchased this Alkaline Pitcher a recently hoping it would prove being worth it, nope. I haven't taken the pH of the resulting water from this pitcher yet to be sure it's alkaline, but it tastes about the same as the filtered water I buy from the Glacier machine at the market. The only reason I wanted to purchase it was to insure that I was drinking alkaline water, as I've read many times how important alkaline water is in cancer prevention. I think though, that this pitcher's mode of operation is simply through use of a carbon filter (you get only 1 with the pitcher), which must be replaced every 2 months. This requires some effort in ordering replacements. It has a small LCD read-out on the lid that lets you know how many days are left until the filter needs to be replaced. It might hold about 4-6 cups of water when full. It might hold about 4-6 cups of water when full. Once primed, the filter must remain wet to be effective, so the water must reach the filter insert in the pitcher (about 2 cups full). It is easy to use and carry and dispenses water without dribbling. However, I'd like to see the lid a bit more firmly attached.
After a couple of months using, I noticed condensate forming on the inside of the pitcher, in between the plastic body and where the filter goes (i.e. not where the water is supposed to be.) Left out on the counter, it results in MILDEW in the unit! Also, the whole concept of this pitcher is bad. It uses calcium in the filter to alkalize the water.... But they don't give you any info on what type of calcium, etc. I have since found out that most calcium additives can actually clog up your kidneys and impede detox. There is NO literature in this unit to explain how it alkalizes the water. I contacted Thrive about the mildew problem, and they wouldn't give me a refund, and said I had to contact the company. It's impossible to reach the company. AVOID this!
Purchased this one for a friend who called to thank me and said it was the best tasting water she ever drank. Her Vet recommended alkaline water for her dog, now they are both enjoying it for better health. I've had one myself for years and it's the only water my dog and I drink. The pitcher makes producing alkaline water convenient and easy; plus it is very healthy. We and our canines are very pleased.
I bought this amonth ago and seriously love the water. 'Only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is very minor functional design criticism. If the pitcher is full, you need to use both hands to pour-1 Hand to keep just a little pressure on top of picher lest the weight of the water force the lid open.Definitely NOT a DEAL BREAKER. I fully intend to buy these as presents for people because the water tastes so fantastic.I may even buy the shower filter if the filter replacement isn't cost prohibitive.
I have a reverse osmosis filter at my kitchen sink since my well water had some minor impurities in it. I bought this pitcher to remineralize the water. The water from this pitcher is so awesome, I cannot stop drinking it.If the pitcher is full, it's heavy. So unless you have really strong wrists and forearms you will need to use two hands to support it while pouring. But there is an obvious tab right by the top of the handle where you can easily place your thumb to keep the lid secure while you are pouring, and just use your other hand to support the bottom of the pitcher. It's a pretty smart design, since your thumb would be near that spot anyway. I missed that when I first started using the pitcher, and assumed that the lid would just stay on; in one case the ... MoreI have a reverse osmosis filter at my kitchen sink since my well water had some minor impurities in it. I missed that when I first started using the pitcher, and assumed that the lid would just stay on; in one case the lid did come off and some water flew out. Not a big deal at all once I figured it out.Filter replacements are pretty cheap. $8 every two months is pretty much nothing. I love this pitcher.
i just bought a pitcher and the digital timer in the lid is not working, so I tried to replace the battery and it will not work. Cant figure out if i can just by another timer to put in my lid. we have had two pitchers so far and both have had part issues. They seem to be out of business because you can't call any one.
I researched alkaline pitchers for several months. Was going to buy on Amazon, but thought I'd check Vitacost on the off chance they would have one. I'm sure they researched it better than I. And I really love it. It has a meter to remind you when to change the filter. The filters are cheaper than my Zero water pitcher. And it filters pretty quickly. The water tastes great. It has a convenient opening to refill reservoir so you don't have to take off the entire lid to fill. I wouldn't have chosen black for the color but now I like it. Oh, and the pour spout is great--no splashing, enough comes out, and the little covering over the spout lifts with just the force of the water pouring. Excellent!
