The increased width of 26mm only applies to the urethane, which helps create a more stable platform for manuals and fakies, but will also protect the core of your wheel to make grinds much smoother. These parts are held together by the industry's most trusted compression system, IHC. A scooter's compression system holds your scooter together, and the X specifically uses the Z 2-Bolt Clamp and the Diamond fork.
