The Les Paul Custom made its debut in 1954 after the initial success of the Les Paul Goldtop. Mr. Les Paul himself wanted to convey to audiences that the solid body electric guitar was not a fad but a superb and challenging instrument and that his signature axe, the Les Paul, was the king of all electric solid body guitars. So, Les requested a Les Paul with a custom color finish in solid black and solid white with gold hardware that would blend well with a tuxedo. The result was the Les Paul Custom, or the “tuxedo” Les Paul, as it became known among fans. The Les Paul Custom quickly became one of the most recognized guitars in the world and Les himself used his Les Paul Custom in concert, on his weekly television show with wife Mary Ford and on his album covers, including his famous duet with pal Chet Atkins, Chester and Lester. After changing the strings and rubbing down the fretboard with a neck conditioner it was gone. The body weights and feels amazing. Some people have shipping issues with minor things such as broken toggle switches, but I found mine in perfect condition. In fact, the guitar was packaged and shipped with great care to ensure the guitar arrived in mint condition.Bottom Line:This guitar simply cannot be over looked because it doesn't have a name your looking for!! Gibson's and Epiphone's quality really shines through on this guitar. It feels great, plays great, and is in a very respectable price range. I usually change out a few items on my guitars, but I can't see anything that needs replacing. Buy it-you won't regret it! I would take this guitar to any show without a backup hands down.

Epiphone and Peter Frampton should be really proud to have this guitar out. I have many Les Paul style guitars (3 Gibson's and 5 Epiphone) and this guitar is unique in so many ways I hardly know where to begin. First off, I am a Frampton fan. His tone is always among the best and his highly modified 1954 Gibson is part of the reason. When I first read in detail about the many mods to his original Phenix I was so interested in trying that that I bought an Epiphone "Black Beauty" three pickup with thoughts of doing all the mods Peter talked about in interviews but since the Epiphone I bought was so nice I couldn't bring myself to cutting and shaving the neck and body and I was still in doubt about the unusual pickup wiring. I was also not confident enough in my ability to do it and would end up destroying an otherwise nice guitar.Waiting a few years has now paid off. Here is the guitar I really wanted with all the Framton mods. It has the thin shaved neck profile, the slightly thinner weight relieved body and most importantly the unique Frampton wiring scheme. My guitar weight 7.4 lbs. making the lightest Les Paul I own (my 2001 LP Standard is 11.5 lbs.). Aside from the tinner neck and weight issue it has the ability to have complete control over both the volume and tone of the middle pickup. As far as I know this a unique feature on this guitar. Not much more to add except a thank you to Peter Frampton and Epiphone for releasing this great guitar.Note: With only 900 available world wide I suggest grabbing one asap.

I played this in Standard then set it up in Drop C. This guitar sings in both of tunings. I was very impressed with the stock Epi pups. Has a great feel and is absolutely beautiful. Now, to be fair the grain pattern is a blind luck kind of thing. First one I got looked bland and boring. So I ordered a 2nd and it has far more character. Overall, for the price, this guitar plays, feels and sounds fantastic. With a few minor upgrades, it will only get better. But as a stock axe, it's pretty great as is.

I've been a musician all my life, but I actually began studying it in 1977. I was a vocal major in high school and college and have played all types of music from choir music to symphonies, concert bands (trumpet), jazz, rock, blues, country (and western), ska, punk, reggae, you name it I've done it and have recorded also.My main instrument has always been bass guitar, but I also play acoustic and electric six-strings. I have jammed on a ton of different guitars so I have some experience behind me on what I like personally. It is lightweight, the neck is easy to play, the frets are all even (no extra outside work needs to be done), the hardware has a good solid feel, not loose, and seems high quality. It is very easy to tune but importantly, it STAYS IN TUNE. FYI: I bought the Black Beauty four years ago, and it is a very nice guitar, but it needed some work on the frets. It was also heavier and it didn't sound as nice as this limited edition Frampton guitar. The center pick-ups are Vintage Humbucking and the bridge pickup is a Modern. My main guitar amp is a Fender Mustang II. Today I played this guitar through the "British 60s" and a "Blues" sound and both sounded excellent. Again , the action on the guitar is incredible and I am very pleased to own it. It'll be my main guitar for years to come and I am very pleased.

Review of Epiphone Les Paul Custom Pro in White
19 March 2019

This is my second Les Paul and my first real opportunity to compare it to my ‘96 Epiphone standard. The neck is much thicker but it doesn’t seem to compromise on playability. The tone is gorgeous. It weighs a little more than my sunburst but you quickly forget once you’re playing. The build quality and finish is fantastic. It’s my first experience with ProBuckers and they seem great. This guitar is incredibly versatile and outstanding value. It looks great, it sounds great, it plays great. I would absolutely recommend this guitar to players like myself that are working within a budget but love the iconic single cutaway design.I love my custom pro, I’m really happy with it!

No cons.

Love the guitar it is really beautiful. As expected it is quite heavy but feels great once the action is adjusted correctly (either it wasn't setup correctly in the factory or the neck moved a lot in transit). Anyway, put on new strings (9 - 42), straightened the neck (the truss-rod works perfectly), dropped the action and adjusted the intonation and it now plays and sounds like a Gibson. It really suits my Fender tube amp and handles overdrive superbly. I was thinking of dropping in some Seymour Duncan "Pearly Gates" but the pickups are better than I expected so will reserve judgment. They're "hot" without being "super hot" and you can definitely get some nice "crunch" out of them. If it was lost or stolen I would definitely get another one. I use this live on stage, and in practice. It always gets the job done, sounds great, looks good. I don't like to give out 5-star product ratings, because there is usually something that could be better about almost anything. But frankly there isn't anything about this that needs to be better: the build is solid, the electronics are very good, and the pickups sound excellent.Note: volume knobs can be pulled up to split the pickup coils, and pulling up the tone knob puts them out of phase. This info is not typically included in product descriptions. Could the Epi LP Custom Pro really be worth 50% more?Well of course the answer is Yes, and the main reason is indeed the pickups; they never disappoint. Their sound has depth & fullness. It really feels like you're playing an instrument, and not just some log strung with wire & slapped with pickups devoid of personality. This baby comes to life.Yeah, it's only available in black; somehow that seems appropriate. Gold hardware looks good, a classy overall presentation. It does come with some distinctive weight, but LP type guitars are known for that - and lighter guitars still cause shoulder ache, so why not have the real thing with the real sound? We read all the time that this or that guitar should make you want to play; this is one of those guitars.

Very first guitar I purchased
31 October 2019

Only use 'practice' because I've only been playing aboyt 3 months.GF bought me my first guitar, an acoustic-electric archtop. I wanted somethingmore to the bluesy/classic rocks sound too. Reviewed lots of guitars, LOTS, loved the Strats I twanged too.But lb for lb and buck for buck, this was THE best BANG!Special thanks to Lincoln for hooking me up to the finances. Couldn't have happened without him.
