Wow..this is a bright projector! I am using it on a 92 inch screen and sit 4 mts back. It is not in a dedicated blacked out room, there is always a very low level light on. The light reflected from a 1.0 gain screen into the room is surprising. I did all the usual calibrations but found that for brightness and contrast that I had to view a range of materials and adjust to match. Production values vary greatly between channels and individual programs and sources ie The great british bake off is over exposed and the gamma/black levels on Jonathon Ross are the opposite. A typical problem with Saturday night TV - is watching a dark jacketed Jonathon Ross then Match of the Day where light coloured and white shirt highlights can be burned out. I fiddled about with the gamma curve but it only gave subtle adjustments. In the end I have turned down the bulb to ECO, Brightness to 45, Contrast to 45 and Saturation to 40. Its a compromise to get watchable shadows and highlights. These are obviously personal preferences yours could vary greatly.Auto iris - leave it off, its too slow and cant do anything to any picture other than pure black. The native contrast of this PJ is really good anyway.Resolution and sharpness - There is inconsistency in the panel alignments that can't be fixed by the user. I think this is probably due to lcd panels that are not perfectly flat, a bit like a wavy screen. This manifests itself along grid lines in a patchy way, almost like chromatic abberation but can't be that. I fiddled with this for ages but its not a deal breaker, stepping back a meter I couldn't see the problems.4k, does it show more detail than 1080p? With a test card yes, but step back a metre and you'd struggle to see it. I've tested a range of 4k HDR movies against their 1080p equivalents and I can see a slight benefit with some of them.Lens shift - good but not as good as my previous Epson PJ. If you are ceiling mounting this may give you a problem - If you use both horizontal and vertical adjustment you get a reduced range not mentioned in the specs which will throw your calculations out of the window. I also found the keystone adjustment awkward to get a result I was happy with. I didn't want to use it anyway. In the end some intense negotiation with my other half has resulted in me being allowed to reduce in size a pelmet which covers the pull down screen.HDR - Tested several sources - All I can say it that I am really impressed with the brightness and contrast of this PJ with standard material and HDR didn't really show much benefit if any. Although there are 16 levels of tone mapping I can't see anyone using anything outside 2-6, I'm currently using level 3.Not surprisingly my 12year HDMI lead would only show 1080 material. I've upgraded to an 8k optical 48gbps lead which has no problems passing 4k HDR material.Audio - surprisingly good if you dont want to use your surround sound system. Although I have found that it works sometimes and not others (not got to the bottom of that yet).Memory - For anyone that wants to have different settings for different material this is a really useful feature.Colour balance - I've not had chance to calibrate this properly yet but to my eyes its leans a little towards red. I've cooled the white balance setting a little for now.Out of the box Cinema, Natural and Bright Cinema are all well judged with only minor tweaking required to taste although if you're fussy like me it may take you a while to get there. I'm using Cinema as my base. Bright Cinema is really bright without looking unbalanced (but too bright for my room).4K enhancement - haven't tested this as the PJ sees my sources as 4k and won't let me enable it even though the material may only be 1080. It requires me to set my source hardware as 1080 which I couldn't be bothered to do.Motion handling - Yes there is judder with some 4k material - frustrating TBH considering the price of this model. Motion handling doesn't require fancy algorithms and interpolation processing. It just needs a video processing chip capable of handling the increased volume of data. A good example is No Time to Die - fine in 1080 but struggling with pans in 4k.The 4k benefits of resolution and dynamic range are harder to see. Its more a projector that can accept 4k material and sometimes show its benefits. In summary this projector provides a lovely contrasty, bright and punchy image which is great to watch with almost any material or source. Its so powerful I'm sure it would be at home in a much larger room with a much bigger screen, it has plenty in reserve.

I bought this to replace an old Optoma HD20 1080p. Moving to 4k is noticeably better: the projector is very quiet and bright enough in ECO mode. We have a blacked out room for this but you can still see well with the lights on if you turn to bright mode. The speakers are pretty good although I am using an audio splitter to take the 5.1 dolby to external sound system. The only note is that the projector is larger than my old projector and quite heavy: the old optoma 3-arm mount did not fit well, and I had to change to larger mounting screw sizes to fit the Epson. I made it work, but really, I should have bought a new mount with 4 arms and rated to take the extra weight. I was surprised the mounting fittings are not all the same between different manufacturers.

I bought this projector to replace a cheap Amazon projector. The Amazon projector gave me the bug but the Epson projector absolutely blows that out of the water. Admittedly the Epson is much more expensive but Richer Sounds do some great deals and their advice pointed me to the Epson. The pixel shift technology works really well and I'm pleased with all the features for picture adjustment and alignment and it's much quieter too.Don't waste your money on a cheap Chinese projector.
Installation and setup was very easy. Image is very defined. We previously owned a 6700W enabling us to use WiFi. This model we had to purchase the WiFi transmitter separately. This is a feature that we would like to see included with all models. It is a lot quieter than the 6700w and starts up and shuts down a lot quicker. So we are very happy with our purchase.
So the TW7100 was a massive step up from my TW650, not only in cost but in quality. The first thing you notice about the TW7100 is its size, the projector seems massive in comparison to my old projector. Also it is much heavier at around 6kg.The fans do quite down after the initial bootup in around a 2min. and the on screen menu is easy to navigate around and make adjustments (or at least I thought so). When it comes to the picture, wow is exactly what i said, This is some tec bit from epson as the projector isn't a true 4k but does some working on the image "4K Enhancement Technology shifts each pixel diagonally to double Full HD resolution". given all that the picture is incredible, even with some ambient light coming into the room. I bought this a few weeks ago, upgrading from an Epson TW6100 that I have had for 10 years. It was really easy to install and I can't believe how much brighter the picture is compared to the old projector. We use the projector as our main TV, onto a fixed cinema screen. The old projector struggled in bright daylight condition and whilst we haven't put the TW7100 to test in these kind of conditions yet I'm sure it will be a step up. The fan is also nice and quiet. Really pleased overall!
I’ve had the projector for 1 week now and cannot imagine watching anything on my TV ever again ! Incredibly sharp image, plenty of pre-set options for image quality as well as the ability to go into the depths with gamma balance, tint etc etc. Bluetooth connection so easy. Image barrel correction so easy. And it’s quite easy to move around to the room where you want to watch - as long as you’ve got a long enough HDMI cable. (I’ve not tried the WiFi connection - need to purchase wifi dongle separately). It’s also quiet when operating on all settings except Cinema Bright - when the cooling fan picks up a bit, but is never intrusive. In any case, the ECO mode is good enough in a slightly dark room. I had the Epson EH-TW650 and decided to upgrad it going for this new model (tw7100) almost 3 times the price. The result is sad. Yes is better. Bus just a little more brightness and quality. With a screen size even smaller. For such a big beamer I am disappointed. I will try to change it for another brand in the same rang of prices.
I have 2 problems,1. If I focus the center of the image, about 10% of the image to the right is blurry. And if I try to focus the 10% image to the right, the center becomes out of focus. My projector sits at the center of the lounge about 1.2m off the floor. I did not use any vertical or horizontal lens shift at all and No Keystone too.2. In Eco mode (power consumption), the screen flickers a lot. Extremely annoying. It goes away when I use medium, but then the fan become pretty loud and quite annoying as it just sits right behind me.
