I bought this scanner in 2021 to scan the multitude of photographs we have, but never got around to plugging it in. I've scanned stuff since about Windows 95. It used to be a very long and tedious effort. And I know what it's like to try and meet a deadline while needing to retouch or spot-doctor scans in Photoshop. Odd color shifts and all. I scanned a couple hundred snapshots with a decent older flatbed, and VueScan set on repeat, and I thought I would never finish. Even recently, using a flatbed and doing auto-crop, multiple photos in one pass, took far more dreaded manual labor than I thought worthy. What I really needed all this time was an Epson FastFoto. Recently I had a sudden need for another one of those projects with 200 scans. Old art postcards c.1900, and postcard photos of odd sizes with family messages on the back. Recently I had a sudden need for another one of those projects with 200 scans. Old art postcards c.1900, and postcard photos of odd sizes with family messages on the back. I ordered the scanner from my local Office Depot and they had it waiting for pickup in less than half an hour.I stacked the cards a handful at a time, per instructions. Automatically fed the stack, at astonishing speed. Spit them back out with no mechanical strain, one per second. 300 dot per inch resolution, scanned front and back, in an instant. The files appeared in my folder before I could gasp. Plus, a very nice color-corrected extra copy made from the raw front scan.I was skeptical. The brightened versions were very nicely done by default. No manual intervention. And as good as I could have done, if I loaded some touch-up software and worked for hours. In every case, I kept the automatically adjusted versions.I also used it to scan several full printed pages for archive storage. I will certainly be doing more of that. It is really fast no matter how you use it.I can't tell you how pleased I was with this purchase. It is a huge upgrade from what I am used to using. The machine is compact, sturdy, accurate, gentle, and screamin fast. It set up wirelessly in about three minutes.I will never get back the time I spent in manual labor on those other projects. I am very glad to finally have a nearly labor-free machine. Now I am eager to take on bulk projects with no worries.I was so happy I went back to Office Depot and bought another scanner, an Epson V600 flatbed for scanning flat media and photographic film. Rather than go back to running slow on those materials too. I scanned a batch of slides from the 1960s a few years back, and I know Digital Ice will work better in this flatbed realm. For stuff I can't run through the FastFoto.

This is a fast way to scan a lot of photos at an acceptable quality if the photos are well lit. There is no way to get a good scan of dark photos which always have light streaks in them, or if they are scanned in the protective case they are much darker than the original. The pictures I added are a kind of "throw away" dark image I used for testing. One is the automatic enhancing done by the machine where you can really see the light streaks. One is the original by the machine without a protective case, the darkest one is with the protective case. None of them are an acceptable match for the original image. This scanner is unusable for dark photos, which usually aren't great photos anyway. The other issue with this scanner is that it always leaves small scratches in the protective layer of the photo. They are only noticeable in the reflection of light off of them, but if you are really protective of your pictures, do not run them through this machine. That said, I've been able to scan a large collection of photos in a reasonable amount of time and complete a project that I would have otherwise never found time for. If you want to digitize a large collection, and don't mindsmall scratches, and having to scan dark photos in another way, this will make the job easier.

Great little scanner! Compact, but very good quality scans. Fast at 600dpi, and blazing fast at 300 dpi. Used a vacuum cleaner with small, soft brush to clean the inside periodically.Installation took some fiddling with, software is not the most robust, but has nice features. The Restore, Enhance does a fabulous job on some old prints (not all).I scanned 5,057 prints of numerous sizes with no issue at all. Some of these were over 60 yrs old and fragile. This project would have taken at least 2-orders of magnitude longer on a flatbed scanner. The most time consuming part was typing in the folder names I wanted for each batch. Scanning is the fastest part of the exercise.Follow the recommendations in the user guide for great results. Scanner was extremely easy to set up. Software installation and connection (note: for scanners I prefer a plug-in connection and not wireless) to a Surface Pro was seamless. Basically, use common sense with old, frayed edged photos.I have fed the photos through singly and in batches of up to ten without issue.so bottom line....I'm very happy with the unit so far.
I thought this was an expensive purchase (esp since I have a flatbed scanner already). So I expected this thing to be great. I'm a week into using this scanner and I am blown away! I've put in about 5 hours of time (including some photo organizing). I've scanned in about 3,500 photos of various sizes and levels of photographic quality and done it at various resolutions. I have been blown away at the speed and quality. I think my wife was as well as she was quite surprised when I was done with the first batch so quickly. It is a bit finicky on things like sticky notes on the back of photos, but even the oddest items went through with ease with the included carrier sheet. I am impressed!

Right now I'm currently working on scanning all of my business documents as well so I can archive and get rid of paper copies overflowing my filing system. 10/10 would buy again!!!
This is an amazing photo scanners that can scan large stacks of photos at very fast speeds with very high image quality. I had looked at several types of photo scanners but many were listed as document scanners that can do photos. This is primarily suited for photo scanning with ways to scan documents when you need it. I had a little trouble getting the wifi connection working since I have multiple vlans. Be sure your phone is connected to the same wifi you are setting the scanner to and it goes smoothly. It is very helpful that the software can optionally gather information about a group of photos including date and description. When dates are entered, the date of the resulting file is also set which helps keep photos cronological in photo album libraries. I store photos directly to my hard drive, but it can automatically upload to Google Drive or Dropbox which is great for most users. It also has a special holder that can scan photos that are at risk of being damaged. I also like that all of the entry and exit holders collapse to shrink to a very small format when not being used. Overall, if you have tons of old photos you want to preserve without a lot of work, I highly recommend this photo scanner.
I've got a big family photo project going on which I was using a flatbed scanner to do the job. Even with multiple photos on the bed it would take a few minutes to scan and organize the batch, and it there was info on the back, I would have to deal with that as well. This one takes a stack, scans them all in seconds even at 600 dpi, scans the back of any photo with writing as well, and automatically gives an AI improved image as well. I don't always keep the AI image, but it will often be better than the original. They're named similarly, so they stay together in the folder. I wish i had bought this a year ago. It's also more portable and takes less desk space than a flatbed as well, so it's easy to take to relatives' houses to scan their photos.
We have well over 1000 old family photos to scan. Original plan was to do several at a time using a flatbed scanner. Best scan quality, but would take forever! So we purchased this, it’s wonderful! If there are a few photos that want higher resolution, we can certainly do that later. Scanning color photos was quick and efficient, set to automatically save the original and color corrected versions, and also back side if there was any writing! The SuperSpeed USB interface certainly helped. Scanning old curled B&W photos had occasional jams because they were much thinner, but it quickly and easily recovers without damage to the photo. We had a dozen very badly curled 5x7 B&W photos, I thought I might need the flatbed, but they scanned perfectly when fed one at a time! ... MoreWe have well over 1000 old family photos to scan. We had a dozen very badly curled 5x7 B&W photos, I thought I might need the flatbed, but they scanned perfectly when fed one at a time! We also have many assorted documents, scanned to PDFs. It can scan multiple batches (single or double sided) into a single PDF. It provides review where pages can be rearranged, rotated, edited, or deleted before the PDF is created, very nice! Store receipts are very thin and need to be fed one at a time, but it handles mixed sizes nicely. The file naming conventions are a little quirky, but after some investigation it is more flexible than it seemed at first. Out of a large shoebox full of photos, only one couldn’t scan- a greeting card with attached photo was too thick. Did I say wonderful?
