I give a 2 only because I have had almost a month and it is still not working. The directions for use and setup are HORRIBLE. I have had computer professionals assist me with use and setup and they have also said instructions are awful. There is very limited assistance on line as well. Scanning is fast and clear, however, were and how to put the information in the computer is absolutely awful. I am finding on my own what to do with the scanned material, but it is not easy for sure. Hopefully, things will change or I will simply not use the unit. I hope your advertising as to its capabilities will eventually be true. Until then I will withhold any more positive reports.

I bought this scanner to convert old paper files to digital. The scanner is fast, accurate, and quiet. I read great reviews online but was hesitant since the name implies it is a scanner for receipts. I needed a scanner mainly for documents. Now I am able to scan my receipts without having to tape them to a sheet of paper. Super convenient and saves me time. The machine will stop scanning as soon as it senses that it has picked up more that one sheet of paper. For instance, if a document has a sticky note on it, you will get an error message. There is an override feature that is very handy. I am getting through my scans with so much ease. I do not dread having to scan documents now. I am very happy with this purchase!

The Epson scanner seems to be a fine machine. However, I am VERY disappointed in the installation that was performed remotely by the technician. Now, the scanner doesn't even connect wirelessly with my computer. Sadly, it appears that this level of "service" has become too common for Best Buy Geek Squad--Technology Services technicians. In April 2021 a different Geek Squad technician "Double Agent Tyler D." came to my home and worked on a different scanner (Neat brand scanner). This "Double Agent" lived up to his moniker because he (likely) disappointed Best Buy and he certainly disappointed me: My Neat brand scanner never functioned properly again and Tyler D. refused to respond to multiple text messages that I sent to him and phone calls that I made to him. The Scanner was easy and fast to set up, The software and drivers installed and updated without any problems. I was up and scanning in about 10 minutes. My wife thanks Epson for helping me remove piles of documents, receipts, printed instruction manuals and various other paper documents from my cluttered office! If you need a way to convert your piles of paper into digital documents that are even editable and searchable or track your receipts for tax or budgeting this is a great tool to have.
Excellent scanner with very few glitches for our small business. We switched software for our veterinary practice to a cloud based system which means scanning over a thousand sets of medical records. It has a high page capacity and is very fast. The only problem was our ultrasounds come printed on thicker paper with a plastic sleeve with the U/S picture and it rejects it. Just discovered contrary to reviews and it’s own promo on printing photos it does a great job scanning the ultrasound prints. There is also a function if it does have an issue where you can start the scan job again and make sure it’s in the correct order. Using it at one computer station so can’t comment on the wireless aspect but this is a perfect and incredibly useful tool for our office. This workflow/integration can save a LOT of time if you have a stack of receipts/documents you've gathered together as you DON'T have to make separate trips to the PC to make sure a particular program is open and ready to receive the scans, then head over to the scanner to load your documents, then come back over to the PC to press a scan button in some software program, wait for the scans, and then save/manipulate the results...very nice! - Included ScanSmart financial and accounting options/integration is top-notch for a scanner that works this well at this price-point; once you select "Manage invoices/receipts" from the Action menu, you have additional options to import the scanned document and/or its contents into QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, save as a native Quicken File, a TurboTax File, a CSV file for reading via spreadsheet or database program, or just save the result as a simple image file. These additional options/capabilities dramatically raise the value proposition of this scanner for anyone who wants to capture or manipulate the data contained within invoices and receipts, and not just retain a scan of the document itself (FWIW, these same financial options require an additional purchase for the otherwise virtually identical Epson ES500W II scanner software suite) - Like other Epson scanner offerings in this class, the RapidReceipt RR-600W also includes the Presto! BizCard 6 business card scanner/organizer program. We didn't really need or want this application per se; but given that the target demographic is the home office/small business user, it's nice that Epson included something that does such a thorough job of very neatly and intuitively organizing business card contacts...definitely a nice addition if you have/manage a lot of professional contacts CONs: - Like all other Espon scanners using this form factor, the scanner starts out small but unfolds to occupy much more desktop real estate with the document catcher and feeder trays fully extended--plan on needing a good 2 feet of space from back to front for ease of use and access to all paper ports, trays, guides and holders - We also have the Epson FastFoto FF-680W and WorkForce ES-500W II scanners in the house; for each of these models, the top of the scanner folds over the hood to protect the document feeder slot and provide an even more streamlined and low-profile design when not in use. The RapidReceipt RR-600W shares the same physical footprint and basic design as those scanners, but the top feeder assembly snaps into place and remains upright and open to the elements at all times (comparison photo attached below). I assume this has something to do with the LCD display, but we really liked the way the other Epson scanners folded up for added protection of the scanner and roller elements, and to be as unobtrusive as possible while not in use - Scanner integration with Power PDF could be a bit more seamless and idiot-proof, especially if you're using the scanner in the wireless configuration. For example, there were 4 scanner options to choose from in my instance of Power PDF: 2 TWAIN drivers and 2 WIA drivers. I couldn't find any documentation on the Epson website that specifically addressed optimal Power PDF configuration, but after getting a driver error using the TWAIN_64 RR-600W driver, I tried the regular TWAIN driver and Power PDF recognized the scanner immediately when I went to create a PDF from documents waiting in the feeder slot. Your mileage may vary, but some help files or FAQ entries on the Epson website specifically addressing Power PDF would have been appreciated - Once again, I am somewhat puzzled by Epson's inclusion of a scanning resolution setting that far exceeds the optical capabilities of the scanner--specifically, you can select an option in the scanning settings for 1200 dpi, but the optical/hardware resolution of the scanner is still limited to 600 dpi. This creates a false sense of greater resolution/potential detail retrieval than the scanner is physically capable of delivering, and the resultant scan will end up being MUCH bigger than would otherwise be necessary at the 600 dpi optical maximum. I suppose having a 1200 dpi software-interpolated scan is useful for line art or other document types where jagged edges are undesirable, but those would only really only be an issue if your printer/output device could also handle such high resolution. In general, this is probably not a use case that applies to many people with small/home office scanning needs. This isn't a dig so much as a caution--people inadvertently selecting the 1200 dpi setting thinking they're getting higher-quality scans (maybe for better OCR performance?) are doing little more than ensuring that resultant receipt and document scans eat up more hard disk/storage space than necessary Bottom line: Although we have two other Epson scanners at home that share virtually the same design/footprint, the addition of the LCD display and the PDF and financial software capabilities and integrations easily make this fast, highly accurate, flexible and pretty user-friendly scanner our go-to for pretty much all our scanning needs now. Setup on the PC was fairly straightforward and took about 20 minutes total including software and driver download from Epson, a function check/test scan, firmware update, and device registration with Epson. The ability to initiate scans and execute multiple scanning actions from the scanner itself (including maintenance and adjusting device settings) via the onboard LCD touchscreen display make this unit far more flexible than those dependent on an attached PC to access and configure more advanced scanner settings and workflows. Scanning speeds in color and B&W fell in line with other Epson scanners in this class (<1 second at lower DPI settings to about 2.5 - 3 seconds at higher quality settings)--and the dual-sided scanning capability is incredibly handy as it greatly reduces the amount of trips necessary to the scanner for single or multiple jobs of mixed media types/sizes. Add in the intelligent financial management, OCR and PDF creation/editing functions and capabilities and this scanner makes for a heck of a data and document management solution that is going to be hard to beat at this size and price point. DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED!

If there is a post it on the paper, it sets of the "alarm" and you have to stop, go into settings , turn of the DFS and the go back to the scanner and start it back up. Then when it comes to another post it or an envelope, it sets off the same alarm again in the same batch of papers! In other words, turning off the DFS only works for 1 document. You have to repeat the same procedure every time it detects an envelope or a post card or a post it or anything it perceives as a document misfeed. That was enough to make me send it back. I was ready to kill it after just a few stacks of legal docs. It scans quickly and can handle multiple page sizes in one stack. What I like most about the Epson RR-600W is the touchscreen, and the ability to scan things even without having my computer on. I can scan items to a USB memory stick, send a document via e-mail, send it to a network folder, or to the cloud -- no computer needed! You can also set up Presets (favorites) to quickly carryout functions you use the most. Of course, you can also use the Epson RR-600W with the manufacturer-provided software with your computer to easily scan and save documents quickly. I have the scanner connected to my wi-fi network and also to my computer via USB. The unit uses wi-fi so you can do things without your computer on, like send scans via e-mail or the cloud. Because the RR-600W has a large touchscreen the size of a smartphone, you can program everything on the screen, but also program many of the same features using the computer software. The touchscreen is intuitive enough that you can swipe like you can on a smartphone and easily navigate the screens. The included software lets you scan to PDF, graphic formats, etc., etc. It scans both sides of the document (but you can turn that off). I also like that you can save as an archival PDF/A, and can add passwords to PDFs. You can also set the PDF so it's searchable. Also included is the handy Invoice/Receipt Manager, which is software that takes receipts and breaks down the information in easy-to-use fields, including vendor/store, total, tax, tip, pay method, etc. You can then export the information to QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Quicken QIF File, TurboTax TXF file, CSV File or IMG Image file. The CSV file can easily be opened in Microsoft Excel, so you can do additional work on the data for recordkeeping or tax purposes. One spot for improvement (but not a dealbreaker) is that the computer software does not let you set all of the settings for the scanner - you have to use the touchscreen on the unit for certain things. For some things, it can be easier to use a computer keyboard, but that's my personal preference. Everything about the Epson RR-600W makes it a solid choice for keeping even the busiest professional or home user organized. From opening the box to loading the software and scanning documents, it is all easy and the scanner performance is flawless. However, the receipt processing software just has inadequate documentation. The neat receipt scanner I had is very slow compared to RapidReceipt, but the software is straight forward and can produce a expense report quickly. The Smart Scan software is just not documented and it has been hours so far and it appears the only solution is to buy quicken to get an expense report. So hey Epson it's a great scanner - but the software documentation is well - just substandard. I have a radical idea, make a video on how to use your software to produce an expense report.
I would have liked to give in this product five stars however after reading the box and actually working with the unit, I would have to stay that I'm thoroughly disappointed in the wireless feature. When I called Epson to get an explanation as to why the product will not scan wirelessly past what seems to be 20 pages they really did not have an answer other than it was based on my wireless network. When i explained that my wireless network is far more superior than they give credit for because I'm running half gig speeds and scanning just basic papers. What ends up happening when you're scanning more than 20 pages it just sits there and act like it's processing when nothing ever gets accomplished. The item does work flawlessly with USB capability but when you go to get a product based on what's presented on the box and nothing mentioned that there may be issues using the wireless feature or in the words of the Epson representative they prefer that you usually USB cable and it's not in the documentation that's where I have my problems. If you're wanting this device to scan single pages and nothing more it would be perfect for you however if you're like me and your archiving boxes of paper make sure you you use the USB cable. Even though AGAIN it's not mentioned in the documentation!
