I was looking for a sturdy mount for my 40” ultra wide monitor. I purchased this one based off of some of the positive reviews I read and I am glad I did. The arm is very well built and works perfectly. You can tell that it will be able to handle a lot of weight. May purchase another for my wife’s 49” ultra wide as well. Very happy with the purchase. This is an excellent arm. Very well constructed and solid. It's easy to assemble and adjust. My one and only frustration is with Ergotron support. I only purchased this monitor arm because Ergotron cannot sell individual parts. I already had the wall mounted version of the arm, which is only different by one of the 4 pieces that are shipped (i.e. a wall attachment versus a desk attachment). The rest of the arm parts are identical in form and function. I tried two routes to obtain parts for the unit to switch from wall mount to desk mount. Ergotron could not supply the parts. First using the excuse that they were incompatible and then that they simply didn't sell or supply those parts separately. In the end I was forced to by a whole new unit. Upon testing all of the ... At $300+, I was skeptical. After it arrived though, I can see you get what pay for (in a good way!) Incredibly sturdy and versatile for any workspace setup. I'm sure my desk or my monitors will break before these arms ever do. I was able to take my small desk space and make it easy to organize my monitors for work vs personal computing. A quality product through and through. I've since ordered 2 more. One for another monitor, and one for a large drawing tablet.

I love these HX mounts so much I actually have four of them. I have four 32" displays that I divide up between work and play. The HXs keep the displays off the desktop, giving me a lot of valuable desk surface space back for other things. And they're vastly more flexible, movable, and adjustable than most OEM monitor stands are. And they're sturdy as heck, able to keep a heavy 32" display right where I want it at all times. The first three I purchased were the moment the HXs became available on the market which was a few years ago. They only came in one color at the time: white. The one I just purchased is silver/stainless steel colored, and it's... a bit gaudy. That's my fault for choosing it, and if I were to do it again, I'd just get another white one.
You really do get what you pay for. I needed a monitor arm for my CHG90 samsung monitor and initially tried the loctek D7L which some users had had luck with for this monitor. Unfortunately, it couldn't hold the weight and broke when trying to add resistance to the vertical tilt mechanism. All roads led me to this ergotron monitor arm which is rated for up to 42lbs. Although this was double the price of the loctek, it was worth it. The build quality is exceptional - it feels very durable and well made, while also looking very nice rather than too industrial. Adding and removing tension is extremely easy and assembling this arm was a piece of cake. I would recommend this to anyone with a heavier monitor and I wish I had went with this unit sooner.
This is clamped on very securely to my desk and I can use it in a room where the screen is not just for my computer but acts is a streaming mechanism for people sitting on my couch or at the table in the other direction. It looks good and for something so substantial is actually pretty unobtrusive. And it just feels strong. My 43 inch monitor does not challenge it in the least. I truly believe it was worth every penny.
This is everything you would expect from a higher end product. I have an old, super heavy, Apple thunderbolt display and the hx desk monitor arm handles it perfectly. It was simple to put together, and I was able to complete the entire assembly on my own, including the attachment of the monitor. The attachment to the desk is really solid without doing any damage to the wood.
The build quality is great. They use high quality metals throughout, instead of just being cheap cast iron of other stands. There are set screws to lock in the arm, from you pulling it out of the sockets. They payed attention to detail, such as the bottom one rotates 180 degrees ( so it doesn't hit the wall when you push it back ). The top still rotates 360. Only reason why I gave it 4 stars but not 5 is because it will not hold up samsung's Odyssey G9 monitor. Monitors that have 1000R curve, have their CG too far forward for the tilt spring, and it will sag or drop down on the highest tension setting. However, the G9 monitor is really the only 49 inch ultra wide that causes this issue that I know of. If you have any other super ultrawide that you want to use a ... MoreThe build quality is great. It's 9/19/2020 as of writing this, so if your in the future reading this, go check if they made the new part for it.
I like things a little overbuilt, over-engineered, etc. I use this on an LG 34 5K Ultrawide, and it functions perfectly. On my standing desk, I use it at full extension sometimes, and it is rock solid. It is very stable. The whole desk will shake before this thing shakes or wobbles. The movement glides smoothly, yet stays in place. I also wanted to future-proof. I'm planning to get a 42 monitor weighing ~30 lbs, and this arm will be plenty strong for that monitor. If you're on the fence, don't hesitate. It is a worthy investment that will outlast your monitors.

I like the ability to put the mount in place, followed by the lower arm. The upper arm can be mounted to the monitor, followed by placing the upper arm and monitor onto the lower arm.
