Great product for a good price. I don't buy canned tuna very often, and was surprised at the big chunks of tuna sitting in a bit of oil. I decided to make tuna patties with mashed potato, egg, grated cheese, chopped beans and onions, lots of herbs and rolled in bread crumbs. I brushed a tiny bit of oil on them and cook them in the airfryer. They came out brown and crunchy on the outside and I served them with tartare sauce and a green salad, a yummy dinner for usIt's a great product for the price @$3. 50 for a 425 gram can. I'll be purchasing again to try out a few other recipes, maybe a tuna bake with macaroni, tuna quiche. The only downside is that it's packed in Thailand from multiple origins but that explains the cheaper price. Thanks to Bunch for a yummy dinner

Best Value for Money in the Range. This is one of those fab Woolies home brand prods that deliver high quality but at a modest price. This particular tuna product is always fresh and tasty. The olive oil gives it a smooth and rounded flavour, and makes the fish moist and tender. It’s an ideal food to add to a salad or simply have on a sandwich, toastie or a roll with tomato or onion. I like the distinctive green and white colour scheme on the tin, with the red Woolies logo which makes it easy to spot in the otherwise crowded tinned fish aisle. At less than 2 pesos, this represents outstanding value for money, especially in this crazy era of Weimar Republic-like hyperinflation. The size is just right too, and I prefer it to the smaller 95g tins or the larger 425g ... MoreBest Value for Money in the Range. Safflower (f)oil. I'm a huge fan of the Woolies brand tuna. There is usually more tuna in the can, much cheaper and it's chunkier than the name brands (which tend to be quite mushy). This is a mid sized can which could do 2 serves. Nice chunky tuna that fell apart very easily. Great price for the size. With no flavourings, you can do what you want with it - salads, tuna bakes, fish cakes. I had it with a salad for lunch and added olive oil and vinegar, s/p. I liked that I could choose my serving with a bigger can as sometimes the smaller cans aren't enough. Very economical for families for bulk lunches and dinners. The only thing I don't like about it is the safflower oil that is used instead of olive oil. Safflower oil is a cheap processed oil that isn't great and ... MoreSafflower (f)oil. I would definitely buy the brand again, but I would go with 'in springwater' instead.
Why is it easy to weigh tuna? They have built in scales! bwaaaaaahahahahahahhaahahahahahahaha, brilliant, anyhow, on to the review... First impressions - Price is cheap, which makes me suspicious of the ingredients Next impressions - aha, whenever something says 'oil' then it seems to mean cheap nasty inflammatory unnatural processed oil. I think they should change the name to that actually, then maybe no one would buy it anymore. That's quite a whack of sunflower oil... Skipjack Tuna (63%), Sunflower Oil (22%), Water, SaltFinal impressions - well, despite my misgivings, I managed to cook this up into a very palatable pasta dish. I made sure to drain all the oil I possibly could and then replace with some yummy olive oil instead. Not bad I think, but could we make ... MoreWhy is it easy to weigh tuna? Great value tuna, packed in Thailand from who knows where? This tuna tastes just as good as the more expensive brands, although I find Sirena tuna to be the best of the bunch. At this price this tuna is ideal to mix with salads or pasta and will deliver good results. We cooked pasta with this woolies tuna, olives, capers, chilli and tomatoes and there were no leftovers as it was delicious. The only negative for this product is that it is packed in Thailand from multiple origins. As customers multiple origins doesnt really give us any answers as to where the product is from. This is a sour point with me and would prefer to buy either locally or from an origin I know and trust. This no-info labelling should be outlawed. Not bashing this brand as Sirena tuna also has ... $1. 80 and the 185g is a handy size. Gday WooliesWell well this sample come along at the right time. For years and years i went off tinned tuna but recently and perhaps because of bunch - i can't get enough of the stuff. Tuna sandwiches are my easy go to meal. I like the lemon pepper flavoured tunas and usually buy a brand name on half price special. I wasn't that keen on trying this one, but it ended up being pretty good. I added my own lemon juice and pepper and i appreciated the size of the can. Sometimes i want a bit more than those mini cans but not as much as the 400-500 gram cans. This would be great on a "hangry" day when 1 baby tin of tuna just aint gonna cut it lolIt's not the top of the range tuna but it's a good staple. I would pick this because i just ... May as well buy fresh salmon when your tuna gets up around the $20-$30 per kilo range. $9. 73 per kilo is more reasonable. (It's $8. 24 per kilo if you buy the 425g tin)Interestingly enough the 95g woolies tuna in oil is $9. 47 per kilo so it is cheaper than this 185g tin per kilo but i believe the smaller tin must be lesser quality / more mooshed up tuna V chunks. 4 stars
Delicious. I am a great fan of canned fish. My pantry is always well stocked with different varieties. I especially love the versatility of canned tuna and salmon and use these in a lot of my food prep. I believe in making delicious meals in the evening, always with conscious thought to providing well balanced nourishment as well as creating a feeling of enjoyment and relaxation at the end of the day. I was extremely impressed with the quality of this tuna, especially for the price. I will most definitely buy this often. The flavour and texture were good and would be great in many of the meals I make. I do buy tuna in spring water rather than oil generally but, even though a good percentage of the can was oil, this tuna did not taste oily. The texture surprised me - light and easy to break up without falling apart too much. To use this tuna I made a quick "comfort food" favourite. I drained the tuna and reserved the water/oil to add to a not-too-thick bechamel sauce (flavour enhancer). I always add diced celery, corn and spring onion but from there it's what I feel like at the time - usually diced tomato and green olives, taking care not to overcook and spoil the crunch of the celery. Occasionally I add a quartered boiled egg or two at the end with the tuna, handling it carefully so as not to break it up too much as it warms through. Some shredded cheese on top at serving adds more calcium and deliciousness to an already healthy, enjoyable meal. One more thing; we enjoy this in a bowl on top of a bed of shredded lettuce which give it a touch of freshness. Thanks Bunch for giving me great things to try.
Great value for money . Pleasantly surprised by the value for money that it offers. The tuna itself is good quality, with a decent texture and flavor, and the oil adds a nice touch of moisture to the overall taste. The packaging is simple and easy to use - you can carry on the go for work! The tuna is ready to eat straight out of the can, making it a convenient option for busy days. I also appreciate that the product is affordable and accessible, making it a great option for those on a budget. While it's not the highest quality tuna on the market, it offers great value for money and is a convenient and affordable option for those who enjoy tuna. If you're looking for a budget-friendly option that still offers decent quality, then give this a go!
Delicious and great price point. I have been using this tuna for a few months now and everyone in the family is enjoying it. We used to buy the branded tuna cans on sale, but now we won't even need to anymore. The price point is great! I usually like to check the unit price when I know I am needing a larger quantity and I may as well buy more and use it up for other meals the next day if needed. This is $8. 24 per kg, and when you look at other branded items that are not on sale, you are looking around $13+ per kg. This is definitely value for money. It has a 4. 5 health rating, which is a huge tick for my family and I. Taste and texture wise, it's tuna, so it is the same as any other tuna we have had. I pour out most of the oil and use what I need for my dishes. I use the tuna mainly for Japanese dishes, such as tuna and avocado sushi, onigirazu and tuna mayo rice bowls. I've also used it in salads, when I feel like a light meal. I am sure this would be amazing for tuna bake and any other meals. I have about 4 more cans in my pantry at the moment I highly recommend! Here's some photo #inspiration for you below with how I've used it. Thanks Bunch and Woolies!
