Estée Lauder Soft Clean Infusion Hydrating Essence Lotion 400ml

I received a sample of this product for free from Influenster and Estée Lauder in exchange for my honest review. Formalities aside this product is confusing to me. It's not the packaging, description or directions that threw me off...it's the feel of the product on my face...and honestly I can't help but wonder if my sample was filled with the wrong product. It is advertised as a hydrating lotion which is great because living in the south with well water my skin needs all the hydration it can get...it looked so promising when I did some research online while I waited for the sample to arrive. It is advertised as a hydrating lotion which is great because living in the south with well water my skin needs all the hydration it can get...it looked so promising when I did some research online while I waited for the sample to arrive. And the sample itself was tiny enough to fit into the palm of even my small hand. But one positive point is that a little seems to go a long way at least for me it has. My problem with the product is it's consistency. It feels more like a flaming cleanser or soap than a lotion to me. So much so in fact that I literally have the urge to wash my face after applying the product because it feels as if though I have put dish soap on my face and I don't know about you but I do not like the feel of anything heavy on my face. If I resist the urge to wash it off it does feel as if it absorbs after a minute or so, after which there is a hydrated look and feel of the skin but still a lingering unpleasant heaviness on my skin. It does appear also to provide a bit of immediate plumpness and a more youthful look to my skin which is a definite win win (after applying the product to the left side of my face and nothing to the right). And even plumped up my skin more than my daily go to hydrating boost water gel that is my standard go to. But doesn't absorb as well and is much heavier than my norm. The scent is light and flowery, not a bad smell but not something I favor for a facial moisturizer. I have it 4 stars instead of less because I know I am pickier than most when it comes to the weight and density of lotions I apply to my face, and it does an excellent job of providing immediate results.

I have very dry and sensitive skin but this product feels hydrating and soothing! I like this product a lot but unfortunately the fragrance is really overpowering so I can't use it everyday as part of my skincare routine, only once in a while. If this didn't have such a strong scent to it I would definitely use it regularly. It also feels like it needs to be washed off at first as it has a slippery feel to it but once it absorbs into the skin it's no problem. I use clean hands to apply this product to my face because using a cotton pad absorbs too much of the lotion and it seems like a waste. I've had dry issues and sensitivity issues. Lately oily issues that are new. I was open to trying this product since essences are generally pretty lightweight. I don't usually use toners because they seem a bit drying.This smells nice but this is much too strong of a scent to have on your face. This just might not be a compatible product for my skin.
