If the battery goes bad you have a paperweight. However I realize that as all companies improve their products the batteries become obsolete (my previous systems from same company changed batteries design) anyway so not backwards compatible anyway. it's a calculated risk I was willing to accept.Loved the two cameras so much I ordered two more for the exterior of my home. So far it's an A+ for the eufy 2C Pro cameras.

In my case, my backyard camera was at about 20% after roughly a year of being up. Where as the camera on my front porch which is triggered at least 5-10 times a day on average lasts about 3-4 months between charges.Motion Detection - In my experience the motion detection is not as good as it should be for being called a "security camera". The delay between it being triggered and the recording started is a few seconds. In my case I have had mail magically appear in my mailbox because the mailman didn't trigger the motion detection even though they are dead center of frame for about 5 seconds. Where as my neighbor across the streets flag blowing in the wind at 3 am triggers the motion detection constantly.Night Vision - Very good.Setup - Configuring the camera settings though the app is very simple with easy to use controls that I feel anybody could use. Physically mounting the cameras was also a breeze for anybody with any basic handyman type skills, took about 5 min per camera.Using the App - There is a big issue when it comes to using the app to view the cameras, and this may be an issue exclusive to this model but I doubt it. The issue being that when I hit the button to start the feed there is a delay of sometimes up to 30 seconds before the stream starts. At first I thought this may be because of the distance to the base station or my internet speeds however the camera next to the base station, which is has wired ethernet, has the same delay. I cannot speak for notifications as I don't have them turned on however in the short time I had them on after setup they seemed to come in quick.Using the Website - If I am waiting for a package or hear a sound outside my house I always use the website. And this is where my biggest complaint and annoyance with these cameras exists. The web feeds just don't work randomly, I will hit play the the player turns black and starts loading but it just wont work. Sometimes I cant look at a camera feed for a few hours because it keeps giving a "Failed to request." error. I cannot speak for the cloud storage option as I do not use it.Reliability - I have not noticed any issues with rain, snow, wind, etc damaging the cameras at all. They seem well designed and well built. The charge port has a large rubber seal to keep water out and the mounts themselves are very sturdy. I have not had any cameras die or ever had to contact support for help, however, there is an issue with one of them. I have a camera pointed at the sidewalk out front of my house, aimed at where my car is parked, and this camera gets about 50-80 motion events a day. Randomly this camera will just appear as offline in the app and the website. The only way to bring it back online is to bring the camera inside and plug it into the charger for just a second, after which the camera will spring back to life like nothing happened and will continue to work for another few weeks/months before doing it again. Perhaps there is something wrong with this unit however the problem is not enough of a headache for me to really do anything about it.Would I recommend these to somebody?Yes, If you want to be able to keep an eye on your house when your not home or want some insurance against porch pirates these cameras do the job about 99.9% of the time. They do have weaknesses, however you are buying wireless battery powered cameras so you are gonna have to make a compromise somewhere.

I purchased this based on a number of reviews. Setup was not very difficult when compared to other systems out there. There is basic motion detection, storage, and a number of things can be configured. Other systems have better motion detection and more configurations though. It would have been nice to configure that activity range for motion detection for specific areas rather than the sizable rectangle Eufy gives. The big concern is the reliability of the camera system. Out of the box, the first camera synchronized just fine, but then it stopped communicating with the base. I tried removing it from the app, but can no longer add it. Hopefully this is a one-off.I may upgrade the quality to good or very good if the camera issue is resolved and remains good.

Great Cameras

These cameras are very solid for the money. I have one mounted near my garage entry and on in my backyard. Both cameras are great at detecting people, animals, and vehicles. I haven't had many situations where detection didn't work. The image is clear and the app is faster at opening the images than competitors like google. Installation was a breeze including connecting them to my network and network connection is always stable. The battery life so far is pretty close to as advertised. My biggest issue with these is that Eufy just came out with the new base station that is more secure and has expandable storage and they came out with new cameras with built-in solar panels rendering the 2C pro obsolete already. Great cameras

Installation wasn't bad, you need an ethernet port for the Homebase unit. These are rechargeable battery powered, so they need to be charged ahead of time. You'll need some kind of drill for the mounts, push the anchors in, screw the mount into place. Each comes with a mount hole template. Setup was fairly simple, read the instructions, download the app, follow the steps in the app. So far, they've been good cameras, great resolution, fairly stable when you have a strong wifi signal. The Homebase stores clips internally, so no cloud storage fees. Each camera has a small spotlight on it but it's a little dimmer than I'd like and doesn't light a very large radius. There are a couple of cons I've found: The wind blowing trees or bushes is enough to trigger the motion ... MoreInstallation wasn't bad, you need an ethernet port for the Homebase unit. I noticed the microphone on the camera isn't very good and couldn't even capture my conversation with my neighbor from a few feet away. I would have really liked some way to protect the front of the camera from rain, etc. It says 180 day battery, but I highly doubt that will be accurate without ideal conditions. Overall, I still really like these cameras and I would recommend them.

I must admit that I had a few reservations about buying into the Eufy ecosystem. The earlier Eufy cam was quite honestly underwhelming. The reviews were terrible and the customer service tales were extremely concerning. However I did need a security camera setup for my house so I eventually purchased the Eufy Cam 2C Pro 3 camera kit.Previously I had 2 iterations of the Arlo; the original wireless cams which I later upgraded to the Pro3. I also had the Arlo wireless doorbell. Unfortunately the original cameras were quite limited in ability which is why I upgraded to the Pro3. Unfortunately the Pro3 comes with only a short period (6 months?) of access to the website before they expect you to pay. What they don't tell you is that remote doorphone operation is ... MoreI must admit that I had a few reservations about buying into the Eufy ecosystem. What they don't tell you is that remote doorphone operation is dependent upon website access so once you lose that, the doorbell functionality also goes away.I wasn't able to get local video recording and access working either making the whole thing pretty much useless. It also seemed to me that the entire Arlo ecosystem was cobbled together piecemeal.Like many homes, its difficult to get wiring to the front & back doors. There's certainly no electrical cabling nearby and it's a confined space so putting a camera there would make it easily reachable and (potentially) stealable. So, for the original Arlo, I built plates into the corner above the door with a cable through the wall to a battery box. All this still existed when I upgraded to the Eufy so I repurposed it to the new camera system. So the Eufy... It's good and like it but it does have some limitations. Here's what I found:PROs- long battery life- simple installation- excellent app which provides remote access & viewing- NO monthly fees- two way speechCONs- weird setup interface that talks to you- cameras not as sensitive as expected- mounting stand only suitable for vertical surfaces- video does not immediately record (3-6 sec delay)- can't upgrade local storage- no dry contacts on Homebase or doorbell for 3rd party chimesMy primary concerns were that I needed a battery & wireless based system that I could have remote access to without paying a monthly fee. I got that with the Eufy... however I'll also be the first to admit that the features aren't as good as the Arlo (mainly camera sensitivity, clarity & triggering). I note that Eufy have just released the 3C so I suspect a few of the issues might be addressed in the latest iteration. That said, it ticks most of the boxes so although it might not be the absolute best system going, its good enough.I've only just purchased the doorbell and haven't installed yet. Again it lacks dry contacts to interface with existing bell wiring. The Arlo has got it beat there.

It do what it does

I looked at other systems but went with Eufy because, at the time I purchased the system they were the only company that didn't require a cloud storage subscription. It has a home base unit that securely stores videos locally and allows users to remotely access videos over the internet. I bought two additional cameras to add to the 3-camera system I purchased. The other reason I went with Eufy is because of the 1-year battery life claim. It's now over a year for the first 3 cameras and two still have 3/4 charge. The other has 1/2 charge. Impressive! The remaining cameras are at 3/4 charge. I bought them about a month after my initial purchase. I bought the system to be able to remotely monitor a second vacation home.Installing the system and linking the cameras is very easy. The settings allow the user to adjust motion sensitivity to avoid nuisance notifications. I still get occasional notifications for wind blowing bushes and trees or insects flying through the detection zone. Proper adjustment of the motion sensitivity is important to preserving battery life of the cameras. The deer in the first screen shot was from last fall and I provided it to show the clarity of the picture. The second shows the result of a snow storm from last night providing info about the possible road conditions to get up there. The third is the primary reason I bought the system. I don't know who this guy is or what he was doing on my driveway. It appeared he was looking at my snow blower tracks leading into my garage. I was not there at the time. The system provides the ability to talk remotely but he was gone before I could engage him with a chat.

You may need more than one Home Base to adequately cover all outside cameras
21 June 2023

Eufy 2C Pro Camera reviewI got the Eufy 2C pro 4 camera set to be used for exterior monitoring. Set up was very easy and I had all 4 cameras linked to the home base within 45 minutes while the cameras were still inside my house. However, when I moved the cameras to their respective outside locations, I had difficulties with the cameras linking to the home base. We have a ranch home with a central kitchen (metal appliances make it more difficult for cameras to link to the Home Base). In addition, our home was built with metal studs and not wood frame which makes it even more difficult for cameras and Home Base to be connected. In addition, our home was built with metal studs and not wood frame which makes it even more difficult for cameras and Home Base to be connected. I have a good mesh WiFi system throughout the house so I used the WiFi mode for the Home Base to connect to the internet instead of the ethernet cable. I moved the Home Base to many areas within the house - trying to keep it central to all outside cameras. However, I could only connect 2-3 cameras in the Home Base at best. If I moved the Home Base closer to the front of the house, I would lose connection with the rear of the house cameras. The opposite would occur if I moved the Home Base to the rear of the house, I would lose connection with 1-2 of the front/garage cameras. My solution was to buy a second Home Base. I then placed one Home Base near the front of the house between the front door and garage door cameras. I placed the second Home Base in the rear of the house to connect the two cameras in the rear of the house. Now I have the connection that I was hoping for - although it did cost me an extra $100. for the second Home Base. One other benefit of two Home Bases is that I have twice the storage capacity.

does the job
7 April 2022

I purchased this to set up on a seasonal property. I wanted a system where I didn't have to pay storage charges. I did a lot of research and I went with the Eufy because I've had positive experiences with all the other Anker products I've purchased in the past. Also, the price was better than other systems I looked at. Setup was simple, I just followed the instructions and the base station and doorbell camera were both set up and working within about 10 minutes and this camera took me an additional 5 minutes to set up and get working. The app is simple and works well. Setting the motion sensor zones was as simple as dragging the outlines on the screen. I have the camera set for a balance of motion detection and battery life. It's been up for a couple of months and the battery is still over 90 percent which is fantastic in the cold weather. The human detection feature works great and picks up motion quickly. Nightvision is very clear and I was surprised how good it looked. You have to test the sensitivity settings to see what works best for your setup. With a little trial and error you will be very happy with the results. I have this system set up with one of the Eufy doorbell cameras and base stations and the whole system has worked flawlessly since I set it up. Overall I'm extremely happy with this system. I eventually want to purchase the new doorbell cam and some cameras for my regular house so once I do that I'll review them as well.

short battery life, delay, night vision, and missed detections
19 April 2022

I have 3 of these cameras installed around my house. The batteries lasted less than 3 months. We did not even activate the night vision mode to extend the battery life and instead kept our exterior lamps on at night so the cameras could "see" without the night vision. The disappointing part is that if you turn the night vision feature on, a ring of red LEDs will appear on the camera which make it too obvious on the wall. One reason we bought these cameras was for their small and sleek design and are inconspicuous when up on the wall. So these red LEDs totally ruin that for us. Other companies have figured this out and Eufy needs to improve this feature. Also, cameras miss some of the motions and won't record. Other companies have figured this out and Eufy needs to improve this feature. Also, cameras miss some of the motions and won't record. This problem occurs more often when you have 2 back to back motions (like 2 deliveries back to back, or when kids play outside and a delivery person shows up). In addition, the cameras do not detect or record any motions during the time you watch a footage from that specific camera. This is a BIG miss on Eufy's part, IMO. That means whenever you are watching a recording, no motion will be recorded on that camera. There is ALWAYS a few seconds delay between the motion and when you get notified. As a software engineer, I'd say Eufy devs need to step up their game here.Lastly, working with Eufy's customer service is very frustrating. They send you canned responses and keep repeating themselves without really paying attention to the issue. They are combative and far from friendly. Unfortunately, I have invested so much in their products (cameras, door lock, doorbell, etc...), so I'll be stuck with them for a while before I can switch. I tried to sell them second hand for a half the price but got no interest. All in all, I do not recommend Eufy products and I do not want to deal with the company unless they improve their customer service.
