It's connected to our existing doorbell wiring so it rings our existing doorbell unit as well as sending notifications to our phones and our Echo Show. It can also 'ring' via the Home Base as well if desired. Again, lots of options to customize it to your needs. Having it connected to the existing wiring also charges the internal batteries, so, win-win!Through the online portal I can have the camera on my work computer and so am able to watch whats going on in real time. Very helpful when you're expecting someone or just to be a nosy neighborhood snoop. lol!A few, 'it would be nice if's' - It would be nice if it was available in all white so it would blend better with the door trim; It would be nice - and this is probably too much to hope for - if it could learn our faces and so not announce motion detected at the doorbell every time we leave or return. Deleting all the notifications gets a little cumbersome, but still a small inconvenience compared to what it can do.Overall, very pleased with our latest Eufy addition. There will be more which will all integrate and be managed through their 'Tether' app. Good job Eufy/Anker!!

It talks about being able to cut cloud fees, but it would still be nice to be able to.The big gotcha is this and that if the homebase goes offline, this camera also goes offline, despite even having built in battery that could otherwise have powered it to function without the homebase.I purchased this specifically to enable the option of recording locally when I'm home but on the cloud when I'm away for security data redundancy. We had an old wired doorbell, but we didn't want to mess with the wires, so we put up our new battery operated Eufy doorbell right next to the old one. We have stucco over concrete blocks for our house construction, and although I have a hammer setting on my drill, we couldn't make a nice hole in the wall for the screws. So, we put up the Eufy doorbell with heavy-duty double-sided tape, and it's holding well. (EZlifego Double Sided Tape - Nano Double Sided) Also, I didn't want to have to pay extra every month for storage. The Eufy videos are saved in the app on your phone, and also stored on the Homebase. You can easily delete videos you don't need to save from your phone and from your Homebase, from the app. The Homebase plugs into the wall, and connects to your Wi-Fi, and pairs with the doorbell and your app. They give you suggestions as to where to mount the doorbell. We had a lot of bright backlight, so we mounted it on the side wall next to the front door. We set it to "motion" alert, because we really don't get animals on our screened-in porch, but you can set it to only recognize humans. When someone comes to the house we get an alert on our phones (both my husband and I), and if they press the doorbell, we get an alert and also the doorbell chimes on the Homebase. It only takes a couple of seconds for the Eufy to start recording. We only had one delivery man who avoided being recorded by throwing the package in quickly (not any eufy delivery!) The video is recorded on your phone, and you can easily download it, for example, to email it to your Homeowners Association or to the police. We generally delete the videos after watching them. You are supposed to be able to interact with your visitors, either speaking live, or using a recorded comment, but we haven't figured out how to make that live interaction work yet. But the video of the person at your door pops up immediately on my phone, so I know who is there. The night vision is very clear, but if you want full color you can get a Eufy motion-detecting light. The first doorbell we received wouldn't hold a charge, so they overnighted a new replacement. I have to say that customer service is amazing. I have to keep my phone on the slower Wi-Fi setting, because the doorbell doesn't work with 5G. But we are REALLY liking our new Eufy doorbell.
The image is as clear as one can expect, and then some. When zooming in on subjects on the app, it does blur and artifact a little at a distance, but expected as the camera itself is wide angle and meant to capture a large field up closer. That's not a complaint. Just an observation for awareness sake. Within 20 feet, you aren't missing much. Good clean images. It does fuzz up if someone is close (about to press the doorbell button) and moves around a bit.The ability to tap into house power (if you have that option) coupled with the HomeBase 2 Battery module means I never have to worry about recharging or losing footage if the power goes out. Just a very well rounded combination of options that make this very versatile. That coupled with local storage is what really sold me on the idea of getting the 2k battery version. I've had it rolling for about 3 weeks, and I have not regretted anything about this purchase. The night vision is surprisingly clean, and clear. If you have any street light nearby, there is clear shot of everything out to as far as the camera can see. Without street lighting, the IR lights only go so far for low power. Again, not a complaint, just a data point if you happen to be in a total darkness area (no moon, etc).Motion detection is impressive, but, I do notice the snips it takes seem to start a little later than expected. If a neighbor pulls out of the drive, the angle of the camera should catch them coming into frame, at least by mid-vehicle, but the recording starts with them mid-frame. The space it's in is not a fast pace area. It's a parking area, so at most, they're moving at or less than 10MPH. However, that could be the issue; that it's moving fast enough, it's just that much happening before it declares it detected motion, and starts recording. Perhaps only a point of observation. It seems to take a moment to decide that it's detected motion. It's far better at detecting humans moving around. That's honestly the better of the two, if a choice has to be made. It may well just be due to the human moving that much slower, so the unit has time to decide, and capture the motion sooner relative to subject appearance and clip start.I'd like to see full HomeKit feature integration for the doorbell camera and notices. I know it's a thing they're working on, but that would make this product complete. Finally, my one complaint, is my earlier point about motion blur in the image. I'm not quite sure if it's the app, or the camera module itself. But if someone is moving constantly while up close to the unit, for example, an antsy person wiggling around while anticipating your answering the door, it is blurry enough coupled with the app being less than stellar on freeze frame and rewind/fast forward controls, that I struggle getting a good look at the person. My own facial recognition capacity is limited when it's someone that doesn't stop by often enough to know who it is readily. Some faces aren't as familiar, but you know who they are, so that occasional neighbor stop-over may have you squinting a moment before you catch who it is, if they don't stand still enough. All in all, however, I do recommend this unit and the afore mentioned HomeBase 2 battery module as the ideal doorbell camera kit where not being tied to cloud, and battery + house powered options, clarity, and motion detection being very reasonable are all included.
Doorbell was easy to install and set up with an existing system and Homebase. Offers some nice features like different chimes and quick responses. No Homekit support is a big negative as it's the only device in my Eufy collection that doesn't offer it and a missing piece in my smart home. Battery life is sitting at 63% after 45 days of use, so should hit around 3 months of use for a full charge. Also, set up to use activity zones, but I often receive false notifications for activity outside of the zone or for simple motion like a bug passing in front. This only offers horizontal adjustment as well—a vertical wedge would be great to point down from a porch or staircase.Overall this doorbell is fine. I wouldn't say it's really worth the value. I think I'd have a better experience getting another wireless Eufy camera and a traditional doorbell.
I purchased this doorbell because I was concerned about packages being stolen and for security, so automtic video recording with motion detection was important to me. I also do not want to pay a monthly subscription for access to my videos, so this doorbell storing the video locally on the HomeBase was a big draw.Overall the motion detection works well. Initially I was having problems with it detecting motion at night time, and when people leave the house. After changing the detection zone so that a person's entire upper body, including their head, is within the detection zone, it seems to be working better. This results in the detection zone extending onto the sidewalk in front of our house, so occasionally there are some false calls, but no too bad. But still having issues with it not always detecting us when we leave the house. Also the 2K battery version allows you to hook up existing doorbell wiring to it to keep the battery charged. This is really helpful. We thought we needed a battery doorbell since we thought we didn't have doorbell wires, then eventually found out that we did (it's an old house). Being connected to the wiring keeps it consistently charged between 80%-90%. Which is great, because I don't think the battery would last anywhere near the 6 months that it's supposed to, especially if you have to change the settings that use more power in order to get the motion detection to work properly.I also have to mention that this is the FOURTH doorbell I had to get in order to get one that works properly. I started with the 1080p model. The first one never connected to wi-fi. The second one worked great for 3 months, then died. At this point we upgraded to the 2K version. The third one frequently went offline. Now, the fourth one seems to be working well after over 5 months now, although the motion detection isn't as good as it was on the previous ones. So I'm a little worried about how long this one will last. That being said, Eufy's customer support is really good, and the replaced/returned the previous ones that didn't work correctly without hassle.Overall I would recommend it.
I am very happy with the doorbell. It can withstand extreme Minnesota winters at -20 degrees outside. The AI is very good at filtering out nonsense and combining footage to a single clip, in the "balanced" motion detection setting, although limited to 30 second clips. I do wish the "Optimal Surveillance" setting could do the same with the 60 second clips but it seems to be lacking the same AI and will send multiple small clips through the duration of the event. If your in a climate like Minnesota an extreme amount of snow and sun can be a little bright for the Camera, this will just require some sensitivity changes and maybe some activity zone changes until you find the sweet spot, and then you might have to adjust again when the weather changes. No fault of the doorbell, just a downside of the environment. With that said, the Night Vision can trigger motion detection if somebody shines their car headlights into the doorbell or activity zone that you set. Maybe room for improvement there, or maybe that's what you want.Battery seems to tick down 1% about every 2 days with moderate use and recordings, which does track to about 6months of battery life, as advertised.Customer support with Eufy is leaps and bounds above their rival who don't deserve so much as a a reference.Proud Eufy customer
Was really good. Pros: got the base setup with a hardwired connection to the router. Quick tutorial explained this. Got the camera paired quickly to the base in the house. hooked it up to the app on the phone, sent invites to other members and they all got notifications etc. Went over to our gate entrance and removed the doorbell button, connected it to the camera and voila it got power!. Drilled holes into the pillar, and everything worked nicely. Our camera is about 200ft from the base so this system has a righteous wifi connection. We also tested out the talk function and it works reasonably well. No need for paying a monthly fee.Cons: I wish the base did not require a hardwire connection to the router. A little bit of lag for audio but thats OK IMHO.
I like this doorbell a lot, mainly for the fact that you don’t have to buy cloud storage to have your videos, and the footage is stored locally on the HomeBase 2 (the device inside the house that connects with the doorbell). The surprise I got was that there were instructions inside saying I could choose to hardwire this battery doorbell if I wanted to, so I did. It rings the existing chime inside the house!! I looked up on their website to figure out why it could ring the chime when I thought I had read before that it couldn’t and here’s the skinny:Their wired-only doorbell option does not ring the chime. Their battery doorbell is the newer model, so they’ve updated things a bit and this one will ring the chime. You also have the option of having it ring the HomeBase 2 when the doorbell is pressed, but I disabled that because I only need the one.So, I have the HomeBase 2 connected to Ethernet and the doorbell connects to the HomeBase 2 with a wifi connection. If the Ethernet is unplugged, it switches to wifi. I will say that the video records the beginning of the action much more efficiently when the HomeBase 2 is connected via Ethernet, and you also get notifications seemingly quicker, but I can’t tell you by how much. I just know it’s faster.I only had one confusing moment when I first started and it was embarrassing when I finally figured it out. You go through the setup process for the HomeBase 2, and then you pair the doorbell. It then tells you to press the sync button on the doorbell to pair it to the HomeBase 2, and the whole time I was pressing the main doorbell button on the front of the unit because the picture they show you in the app looks like the front of the doorbell. I was pulling my hair out wondering why it wouldn’t pair and thinking I got a bad unit, but then I flipped it over on the back and there’s literally a small button that says SYNC. Problem solved.A couple points to be aware of:(1) You can set monitlring zones for where you want it to capture motion. I have mine set out to the street, so during the day I get every car that rolls by, but for some reason it doesn’t pick up people walking their dogs on the street. That’s ok. I really just want to capture the cars and anybody who steps on the porch.(2) it stops capturing cars driving by at night, even though the night vision is turned on. It does capture anybody who walks on the porch, regardless if they press the doorbell.
