No complaints. It came with the dosing cup. I like the looks and the hefty motor which can probably grind dark roast for espresso just fine. Even if your scale says 0.1g accuracy, that's the typical error when you repeat the measurement and it can easily vary by 0.2 or 0.3. So get a scale with 0.01g accuracy which won't give you that but will give you 0.1g which is good enough to have a better idea of the difference between what you are getting out from what you put in. Those more accurate scales usually have a 500g limit but that is good enough for espresso brewing although not good enough for pour over and general kitchen use. Fortunately, they can be found for very little money.I was disappointed with the retention during the first dose. 0.7g. The bellows did not help get any more out. However, there was little clumping. (Maybe I am lucky to be in a very humid environment which reduces the static.) Most important of all the new grinder improved the taste of the espresso which we had been grinding with a ten year old 58mm flat burr Compaq Touch which we replaced to lessen the retention and improve the workflow. The improvement in taste was an unexpected gift. The Compaq's burrs have not gone through more than 300 lbs and are in good condition.I am much happier with the retention now after having gone though 3 lbs of coffee. Also, the taste has improved even more and the Eureka grinds are very consistentt I have learned a bit about the retention and the bellows. The amount of retention has gradually gone down so that it is minimal now.I wonder if those negative reviewers wrote too soon.During this breaking in process I discovered something strange. If I used the bellows just after the morning grind they did nothing. Just by chance I tried using it in the afternoon with the motor running. Hit it really hard once, twice. Very little. But after five or six whacks I did get 0.5g out. Not sure what was going on inside when the grinder was idle. In any case, now I don't get anything out in the afternoon either The amount of beans I grind in the morning comes out right away without the bellows. Now you can never be sure how much of that is exchange but that is true of any competing grinder.Single dose grinders are in vogue these days. I chose this Oro because, in this price and performance range, it is not made in China of questionable quality and, although others are also made in Europe, it is one of two shipped from America by a reputable company. Of the two, this was WLL's recommendation. I am not disappointed.

Definitely Improved over the first edition, but still not perfect.

So I'd probably recommend this over the Atom 75 for single dosing / home use, unless you want to mod it a bit.Grind quality on my 2nd edition 1.1 seemed to be improved over the first one, not sure if it is because they improved the grind chamber / chute and there's less retention, I've learned from the DF series grinders that a de-clumper screen can hold back coffee and cause a backlog which results in a build up of fines, so I believe that is happening less on this one.Taste is very nice and balanced, you get some good clarity and body, it is similar to the Stock P64 burrs (which are the older burrs now). I didn't test for Filter / coarser grinding but typically Eureka espresso oriented grinders aren't great for that nor are they easy / great to switch between brew methods like that because it requires multiple dial turns and is hard to come back to your old espresso setting. The P64 grinder with a similar taste profile though did well for filter coffee so I'm thinking maybe this one would be alright too.The one down side is that the declumper still seems to hold back enough coffee that the bellows is not powerful enough to push the coffee through, the grind chamber doesn't have a good seal still, so air escapes rather than being forced through the grind path clearing retention. So basically you still need to beat the bellows HARD to get it to work, and it seems to be less consistent in the dosing output using the bellows that way. It is easier to use than the original but still not perfect. For consistency and workflow and quality of life I'd recommend NOT using the bellows at all, besides maybe for an occasional deeper cleaning. Without the bellows, you will get more consistent input/outputs and thankfully the retention isn't enough to really affect anything, I estimate it should be about 0.5g exchanged retention. Which is much better than the Specialita, and much much better than the Atom75 which is more like 2-3g.So yeah, I like it, but I don't think Eureka knows how to design a grinder with a proper bellows system, it's like they added it just for the look and to compete with other low retention single dose grinders, but honestly I think a low retention grinder (like the P64) that does it without needing a bellows IS a much better solution.

A great quality grinder. I'm pulling consistent shots everytime and the stepless grind adjustment makes it easy to dial in different batch of beans. The sound of the grinding is relatively silent and very akin to commercial-style grinders which is very satisfying. The aesthetics of this grinder definitely brings the 'wow' factor as well. The only major issue was getting the right grind size out of the box and the high retention for the first 500g or so beans going through. The default grind size is too fine but adjusting the knob a 1/4 round coarser got the job done. The high retention got better once a fair bit of beans have been ground through, seems like the spaces within the grinder just needs to be filled up. Great Grinder, Some User Education Needed on My Part

I'm really liking this grinder. The grind is consistent, and when I drop 15 grams of beans in, I get 15 grams of ground coffee out, no ifs, and, or buts. The machine it well built, solid, and operates quietly. It grinds quickly, and once finished, the bellows attachment helps ensure that everything is out of the grinder and it's ready for its next use. I was having a hard time pulling consistent shots with my unit, and assumed there was something up with the machine, since I was able to dial my old grinder in, and once it was dialed, it just churned out coffee and was consistent without question. I turned to WLL for assistance, and we booked a Coffee Cast. My prep was pretty well dialed in, but I learned that I had to make a few changes to how i approached equipment temperatures across the entire system. Once I made those changes, the consistency of my shots jumped to the level I was expecting. The best comparison I can make is through an automotive reference. My old grinder was very good, like a well appointed American luxury car of old, maybe a really nice Buick Electra 225. This grinder is more like a European sports car. Much higher performance, but it comes with some learning, and some modification to how you drive it to get the most benefit out of it.

I had the original version which I pre-ordered and this updated version is a good improvement from it, fixing most of the issues I had with it, but it's still not perfect. It doesn't seem like Eureka grinders really work well with a bellows / blower. Even though it comes with it, on my example at least, I noticed the bellows kinda still clogs up, even though there's BARELY any retention, it's HARD to use the bellows to push the coffee out because it's not sealed airtight, so you need to beat the bellows up a fair amount for it to be effective, and then it gives an inconsistent amount out sometimes as a result. However, It seems like it DOES work very well without having to use the bellows at all. The Retention is low enough to be negligible, and you get a more consistent input/output amount without using the bellows. IF you have it, give it a try and see what works best, it might take a few shots before it fills up the crevices' but afterwards it will be more consistent in it's output. ALSO much nicer workflow and likely less fines being shot out when you don't bother with the bellows! The stock burrs are a good balance of flavour clarity and body, I thought it's a well rounded grinder, and similar to the (old) stock burrs in the Lagom P64. It should work well for a variety of roast levels. I thought my Original Oro SD seemed like it had lower flavour clarity, so I was impressed by this one next to the Lagom P64 which is a much more expensive grinder!I don't think most Eureka espresso oriented grinders such as this are great for pour over and coarser brews, due to the adjustment mechanism it's tricky to get back to where you were for espresso. But it does well for espresso and is fairly consistent with a decent and clean workflow, it vibrates less than the original Oro SD version, and is a bit more quiet, still a little louder than the Specialita but MUCH faster to grind. Still not as fast and quiet as the Atom 75, but that machine has a lot more retention and isn't great for single dosing in my experience (although there are mods / addons for that which may make it do-able).

Not What I Expected

I really wanted to like this grinder as a "single dose" machine, but right out of the box I had doubts. The "Oro" labeling was nowhere to be found, even in the included product manual, which is for a "Mignon Single Dose." The bellow and wood parts are not pictured or mentioned at all. This appears to be a more basic single dose grinder that was "dressed up" as an afterthought to brand and re-price it as "Oro." The weighted disc that sits under the dosing cup -- also apparently an Oro embellishment -- had a sticky glue substance on the underside which seemed to have oozed out from under a plastic glued-on circle, the purpose of which was not evident. The residue was resistant to Goof-Off. I found the grind to be essentially all fine grind all the time. The residue was resistant to Goof-Off. I found the grind to be essentially all fine grind all the time. As a pour-over partisan expanding my coffee horizons with a serious espresso machine, my eye isn't well enough trained yet to discern subtle grind differences. The Eureka has no dial with numerical demarcations allowing you to retrace your steps in grind adjustment; it's impossible to make measurable and controlled comparisons, or to learn from your efforts, when all you've got to work with is roughly the number of turns or partial turns of a small knob. This grinder is finicky -- stopped running mid-grind two times out of the several I tried using it. I had to turn it upside down to get all the unground beans out. The bellow does not sit snugly on top of the hopper, even though it seems to be sized with a "lip" to do so. Good concept poorly executed. I returned this grinder, and I received great customer service from Whole Latte Love. Exchanged the so-called "Oro Mignon" for a Ceado, and I'm looking forward to a fresh start.

The bomb, with a few minor flaws
10 December 2024

I've been in and around the coffee business for 30 years, and the grind quality of this machine is hard to beat unless you want to spend 2x+ the money.Pros:- big flat burrs for consistent, fast grind. I've never been a fan of conicals, YMMV- stepless adjustability- relatively quiet- very low retentionCons:- burrs required alignment. This is easy, but if you're not mechanically inclined, you might want ask that WLL do this for you. It can make a big difference in consistency of grind distribution across settings.- no macro adjustment. Adjustment knob has to be rotated ~720 degrees between espresso and drip, and it's hard to know where it's set if you forget to put it back every time. There are aftermarket products that address this, but Eureka should ship ... MoreI've been in and around the coffee business for 30 years, and the grind quality of this machine is hard to beat unless you want to spend 2x+ the money.Pros:- big flat burrs for consistent, fast grind. There are aftermarket products that address this, but Eureka should ship with a solution.- unknown amount of exchange. Retention is low, but there are always some grinds trapped between uses. The impact on pour and taste seems VERY minimal in my experienceSummary: this grinder is AMAZING if you're looking for a very capable and adjustable single-dose machine. We use it every day for drip and espresso. I did add an aftermarket macro-adjust ring from ARO, there are others that should fit as well. This lets us easily switch between drip and espresso. You could do this with the macro ring, but you need to count the revolutions and there's no visible indicator that differentiates between a very fine grind and a coarse one.BTW some folks on the internet (and this site) have recommended removing the anti-static clump-crusher to reduce retention and improve consistency. In my experience, it made things much worse, with retention going from ~0. 1-0. 3g up to a whopping 3g for an 18g dose. I wouldn't recommend removing this. In my mind 0. 3g is perfectly acceptable.Time will tell on reliability and build quality, but my initial impression is that this will be around for the long haul.

Works great. No bellow needed.

This is an upgrade for me from Eureka Mignon Facile, which is also a good grinder. This has much larger burrs, which grind the beans to perfect, fluffy consistency, much more quickly. It does 17 grams of coffee in about six seconds. It's a bit messy. I tried dosing directly into the portafilter, with a dosing ring. But the force of the grinds coming out pushed everything to the back of the ring. Not great. So I'm grinding into the the metal cup and transferring to portafilter. That works really well, but, oddly, the cup is not perfectly centred under the spout. It looks like it is. The wooden platform is centred. The metal base is centred. But the cup somehow is slightly off centre. The bellows do nothing, so I don't even bother with them. The coffee comes out without using them, and the process is much easier without them.I'm only using this for espresso. The dial is terrific for making tiny espresso-required adjustments. But it's almost useless for making big adjustments for other brewing methods. If you can spend this much for a dedicated espresso grinder, you'll love it.
