Really bright light, really decently priced. Only downside is it’s difficult to fit the battery inside and there’s no clear instructions on how to do it. Other than that highly

It is not very hard to open the torch if you sit down and place it between your knees, and turn the black top anticlockwise.More awkward is to remove the insert, and put it
back again, after inserting the battery. Try to turn the battery around to make it possible. But the biggest drawback (for me at least) is that it produces a very narrow beam of

Great Lantern Once You Can Open It......
17 September 2020
I received my Eveready 6V Dolfin Lantern today and was very pleased with the short delivery period of two days from time of placing my order. The lantern/torch works extremely well once I was able to open it and insert the battery. I am a 190cm tall guy and weigh in at a 100kg, and have very strong hands. It took all my strength to get the thing open in line with written instructions. I found by running some warm (not hot) water over the seal area that it was possible to get it opened. If you are not a strong person or know of someone who can assist you with getting this lantern open, then I suggest that you buy a model that will allow you to easily open it to place batteries.I state again that once I was able to insert the battery the lantern works extremely well.... Is there a better torch for this money? No. Used my Dad's mk 2 growing up until case was unusable and have bought another 3 since all still alive . Don't understand the opening issues, I'm not a big guy and no prob opening, yes a little tricky getting the switch insert in and out but with the runtime they have now it's not a regular job.... Terrible design - lid has fused itself to the body making battery replacement impossible
15 October 2022
Terrible. After only a couple of years the lid has quite literally fused itself to the body, literally making battery replacement impossible. In desperation I even tried removing the lid by bashing the two black tabs at the bottom of the lid in the opening direction with a large plastic hammer. That didn't even work. The only way I would get the lid off this thing is literally with a very long industrial strength breaker bar but even then I'd need to be able to secure the lid and I have no means of doing that. A waste of money and a terrible design. What was wrong with the versions from the 1970s that simply worked?... Show more
