The Rock Terrarium Background from Exo Terra is an easy to cut background that has an incredible natural look (1). It creates a multi-dimensional habitat that is ideal for climbing reptiles or it can be simply used to beautify the natural look of the terrarium. Like all Exo Terra natural terrarium decorations, the colour and texture of the Rock Terrarium Background has been chosen to create a perfectly harmonized environment, humid or dry (2). The deep ridges in the back are perfect to hide wires or tubing from pumps or Heat Wave Rocks. The background is made from black polystyrene, so it will not be obvious when the background is accidentally damaged (3) (white polystyrene would be very obvious when the coating is damaged). Bought to use on my other tank but ended up putting it in this new one. Tricky to cut to size as even a sharp new craft knife blade cause it to tear at times. Taking my time ended up with a nice tight fit that hopefull no critters will be able to hide behind. Looks great too - miles better than a printed backdrop.

Taking my time ended up with a nice tight fit that hopefull no critters will be able to hide behind. Looks great too - miles better than a printed backdrop.
I had been struggling with insulating my terrarium and i had just taped polysteryne around it, which wasn't very attractive. I decided that i would just buy these and put them in. They insultate amazingly and keep humidity in. My gecko loves them and 'nestles' up to them. He was deifntely happy! I did have to cut them down a bit to fit but surprisignly they were relatively easy to do so (not a huge mess) and they are really sturdy.
I love the look of this however because of the small bits that come off it was damaged in the post but some of the middle falling out! I'm not really bothered to much about that.I have been advise due to the small bits that fall off it not to use it in my Viv as it can cause impaction if ingested.However I shall get some aquarium sealer to place over the top to prevent this from happening.Over all I'm happy with the look but it is quite hard and messy to cut and it can cause bugs to escape under it so make sure you are accurate when cutting!
its not the worst but it basicly looks like polystyrene, with a little gold paint, for the price you could make your own, but for people who isnt good at craft it would do as with plants you hardly see the back round, my snake always goes behind it so its easy enough to take it off to get my snake out.
