We have two of these EPE tents, one which my hubby and I sleep in, and the other for our two kids. We used them over the Oct long weekend 2020 at a caravan park and they were great. Sunny, hot days, with cooler nights, and crazy wind gusts. I would highly recommend this tent.Good stuff: - Easy set up and pack down, one person can do it. With practice, only takes about 7:34min for set up and 8:09min pack down. - Small when packed in it's bag. And, there's plenty of room in the bag. Very forgiving because it's impossible to roll anything back up exactly as it came out of the factory - Had some very (very) strong winds come through and no issues at all. Just the usual tent flapping noise, which is expected. I felt safe and secure inside. Just the usual tent flapping noise, which is expected. I felt safe and secure inside. Kids slept right through. -The teardrop shape doors are a great design, easy to get in/out - The two exits/entrances is handy. No climbing over each other - There are six internal mesh stash pockets that held all my bits and bobs - The zipper pulls are quiet, no jingling - No condensation or leaking inside - Good solid build with seam sealing. My kids didn't mange to tear or break anything. (Wow!)What could be better: - The stakes are no good in hard ground. We used our Supapegs instead. The stakes that come with the tent work okay in my backyard. - Watch out for the stakes, they do scratch and bite - You'll get a little wet when getting in/out of the tent when the fly is wet (not a massive issue, just good to know, and I likely need to work on my technique) - The teardrop door will also drip water into the tent when open - The vents on the fly are quite averageOther stuff: - My hubby is 173cm and his head and feet brush against the tent walls. I'm a short-stack and had no problems. - We have two Zempire Bomberpads (approx 198cm length) and they fit perfectly. There is no space between the tent wall at the head or the toe - 2 x Bomberpads fit side by side (each approx 76cm width) with very little space between them, or the sides of the tent. Wouldn't be able to fit anything else inside the tent. - The kids had two Roman tornado mats (about 55cm-60cm width, 155cm length). They had plenty of space left over. - I plan to take these tents on some short overnight hikes, although a little heavier than I would like, they are very well priced given the quality. My Tips: - Watch the Snowys set up / pack down video. It's very helpful. - We used the mesh pocket on the ceiling to hold my mobile phone with the screen facing downwards (Samsung S7) so the kids could watch some TV before bed. - I used the same pocket to hold my headlight Overall: Not a perfect tent, but, I love it!Snowys and EPE service: One of the tents had some discolouration on the fly, and I wasn't sure if it would affect the performance of the tent. I made a warranty claim and within a couple of days after speaking with Mark, I had a brand new fly delivered to my door. Thanks Mark!!

Purchased this tent a few years ago while it was on sale for under $200. Macpac salesperson told me it would be functional and durable, all at à good price. He wasn't lying. The tent is easy to set up, and when set up properly, is weatherproof. I use it several times a year, in varying condition: in summer heat waves and winter snow and everything in between. It hasn't leaked, and with the vents open, condensation is manageable. It's not a four season tent, but in the winter, I sleep in a warm bag and on top of an insulated pad, and as such, a colder inside of a tent isn't just fine, it keeps condensation down. I'd get this again if the current one ever needs replacing and the model is still in the market.

Brilliant tent
2 January 2023

We originally bought this tent to go hiking due to its small size, however due to poor weather, our plans were changed and we ended up camping normally. This tent was a breeze to set up, taking roughly a minute or less. The inside was super spacious due to the pole configuration. Tent was super easy to take down too. The bag is larger than the tent meaning that there was no issue getting it back into the bag. I highly recommend this tent.

Compact but sturdy

I recently purchased this tent and it’s size and weight packed down is ideal for carrying it on multi day hikes. The tent once set up sits just tall enough to sit up in internally and the length was fine for me to sleep comfortably, though I’m not very tall. The tent endured a night of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and strong winds without any of the poles collapsing and only a very minimal amount of water made its way into my tent, though I suspect the rain sprayed underneath the fly due to the wild winds. The two door entry with zip closure screens are ideal to ventilate the tent on hot summer nights.Very happy with this purchase!

Spartan 2 hiking tent – not worth the money! Bargain hunters be warned! I bought the Spartan 2 hiking tent following many positive reviews on Snowy’s website. The tent looks great and as always Snowy’s fast delivery was fantastic. I used the tent three times. A total of 5 nights… car camping for the first two trips and literally in my backyard for the last use. This tent was lightly use each time (no strong breeze, only a bit of rain during one night), I always used a ground cover sheet and dried the tent well at home each time. More than half of the supplied pegs were bent after the first trip (on moderately hard ground but still pegs should be designed for a range of use and not only soft ground). The tent design in itself is fine but the quality on the other hand is not. There is a reason why this tent is cheaper than others. I would not recommend this tent even for light use.

Excellent hiking tent
23 January 2023

We’ve used the spartan 3 person tent for three years now. It worked brilliantly on the Larapinta Trail, in the Flinders Ranges and also just standard car camping in NT and SA. The tent withstood strong winds and heavy downpours, being pitched in a variety of grounds, from rocks to grassy fields. Perfect for two and a dog! Highly recommend!

Good first hiking tent !
9 January 2023

Absolutely love this tent. Took it out on my first overnight solo where it rained moderately all night and was stoked to wake up to a completely dry tent and dry gear! The set up is easy - only takes about 2 mins due to color coding and straight forward asssemblage. Although it wouldn’t be considered an ‘ultra light tent’, it is still light enough for through hikes and the weight can be distributed if you are hiking with someone. The only down side of this tent is that it doesn’t come with a footprint, however, i just made my own using a cheap outdoor furniture cover which is easy enough to do!

This is a good quality tent for the price. I've used it 3 nights over two hiking trips (2 people each time). One night was cold and pouring rain, other two nights were mild. What I like:-Roof didn't leak and no condensation problems.-3 pole setup is pretty roomy.-Great value and durable materials.-4 corner pockets are a good size for sunglasses, headlamp, etc. The two roof pockets are great for putting in a headlamp or other light, as well as being a great place to tuck the doors when getting in and out. (watch video)-Doors open from the top and tuck away, which means they stay clean.-Very roomy for 2, could quite easily sleep 3 (with 51cm wide mats), and could still squeeze 3 packs and pairs of boots under the vestibules. What was average:-Not hard to put ... MoreThis is a good quality tent for the price. (watching the video helps).-Heavier than I would like, but taking into account the low price and the fact that the kids won't tear it, easily I think its an okay trade-off.-Fly sits above ground by about 10cm, which is good for ventilation to prevent condensation, but bad for splash-back when it is raining heavily. What I don't like:-Doors are single mesh only, so you can't stop cold drafts, also if it is raining REALLY heavily, water splashes back through the mesh and into the tent.- Roof top fly vents aren't very sturdy and don't sit very well. I plan on keeping them closed if there is even a slight chance of rain.4/5.

We use this as our 'lightweight' hiking tent. It's not the smallest or lightest tent on the market, but for the price you won't find a better balance of size and quality. We used it on multiple trips, including a 4 night hike. It sets up and packs up extremely quickly and has plenty of ventilation. We had 2 consecutive nights of rain and had no leaks through the fly. The only issue we've encountered is it's quite cramped when hiking with 2 adults and your rucks/gear. We simply left our rucks outside one door under the fly (they didn't get wet). This wouldn't be an issue if you're car camping.
