These were exactly what we needed for my low vision 6yr old who reads braille and large print only. Writing with markers and bold writers he couldn't erase was extremely frustrating for him yet he couldn't see traditional pencils. These write extremely dark and thick enough that he can write and read what he writes with ease. Best ever! And we'll be ordering more soon!

Don't dismiss these big pencils as art supplies for a kid! Faber Castell 9000 Jumbo Pencils really are high-quality drawing pencils. I've been looking for professional drawing tools that I can use comfortably, despite the many problems I have with my hands and wrists. These pencils are comfortable to use and, in my view, they produce results equal to best-quality "regular size" pencils.And, if you prefer drawing large, these pencils are exactly what you need.

Easy to hold thanks to hexagonal barrel. Smooth leads making it easier to draw rather being distracted with scratchy feedback from the pencil. Sharpens well as lead is bonded to wood casing.

I never actually received the Faber-Castell 9000 6B pencils that I wanted as they were never shipped to me. My request for an update went unanswered, but if I HAD received the Faber-Castell 9000 6B pencils I'm sure I would have loved them. I'm chalking this up to miscommunications. The COVID-19 pandemic may have factored in as well. Either way, while I can't really give an undelivered product 5 stars, my overall experience with Pencils.com has been good and I would not hesitate to shop with them in the future.
These are great for shading large areas quickly. I hold them on a 45 degree slate to take advantage of the large leads. They are very smooth going on the paper. I don't feel like the lead is going to break if I use some pressure while shading with them. Using a variety of lead hardness, I can get a good range of values.
The 9000 Jumbo pencil is one of those rare finds that really live up the reputation and history of the company that makes them, Faber-Castell.The lead core is very well made and the wood case and barrel are strong and offer a very solid feel, being made in Germany. The barrel is coated with a water-based varnish.As an avid pencil collector, I treasure these particular pencils and really enjoy them. Highly recommended.
Once again Faber Castell does not disappoint. These pencils are reliable with solid construction. If you find that your hands cramp up when drawing, or you tend to grip the pencil too tightly, these are the pencils for you. The lead goes on smoothly and erases clean.
I have been taking a drawing class, and I bought these just for fun. The next class turned out to be a portrait session, and I needed to cover the page quickly. These larger pencils are much better for quick sketches on larger drawing pads, as well as creating a soft graphite-covered background to erase into. I only wish Staples had the full set. These came in 2B and HB.It came with a pencil sharpener and eraser. I already own a sharpener but I like this one better, since you can enclose the shavings until you reach a trash can. And the eraser is a black standard rubber eraser. The eraser left rubbings on the paper but erased well.
No matter what grade you choose, it is one of the world’s great pencils. If all you ever used are cheap office store pencils, get one of these and find out what's it like to write with a good pencil.
