These are beautiful lightfast markers! I started with 3 and now my collection is 23. I noticed they work a little better on cellouse paper as far as not leaving lines when using water (distilled). Very vibrate colors that you can use with color pencils, pens, etc. Definitely a fan of Faber-castell and bought these along with the watercolor pencils. No regrets! #sweepstakes

I have been waiting on these to become available in the states. As soon as I saw them on Blick I ordered the full set. As far as the swatches go they are very juicy coming out of the marker and there is no smell since they are a watercolor marker. I love Faber Castell products I have Polychromos pencils and the Polychromos watercolor pencils as well. The caps fit tight on them which is a good thing it will keep them from drying out. I'm not sure about shelf life but I am hoping they last awhile. When laying down on paper they are nice and wet and completely rewettable when dry for blending. They are all transparent as well. I look forward to working with these I have not made anything with them yet. I think they are a fun addition to my collection of art supplies. I ... I did a swatch chart with them and I feel like the color selection is pretty well rounded. I can see them being used along with color pencils and watercolor pencils as well. They would be great in mixed media but keep in mind they are rewettable. There are a few brands out there that caught my eye but waited for these to become available to purchase because I know Faber Castell product is a high quality brand.
I have wanted these markers since they came out a couple of years ago. they are vibrant, pigmented, and most importantly lightfast. The colors rewet well for blending with a wet brush. I find the bullet tips to be a bit darker than the brush tips but other than that they are darn near perfect. They are very similar to the Winsor & Newton watercolor markers. I prefer these to the W&N markers though, because they seem juicer and the cap design is better. The caps are easier to remove and you don't risk damaging the nibs as you do with the W&N marker caps. My only complaint is that they don't disclose pigment info.
This is my absolute favorite marker so far- it flows very smoothly and the color is so vibrant! It also matches the colored pencil perfectly! I purchased this open stock, but I am such a huge fan I actually just bought the set of 30 online! Can't wait to try them out!
These are more challenging to use than I anticipated as the color doesn't flow well or at all depending on the paper- I also noticed that if I wet the paper and want to draw on damp paper with the marker, the marker doesn't dispense any color...so I have been using this on mostly dry paper. I was hoping to use these markers as underpainting or sketching on watercolor paper, for plein air, but I've found these are better maybe for thumbnail sketches and value studies or crafts rather than fine art. Maybe I haven't found the best use yet.
Winsor and Newton water color markers perform much better and are much more saturated. These markers are bland and don't lay down much color and when you add water to them they do not blend out well. I have tried them on Arche, hot and cold pressed, and baohong artist quality water color paper plus etchr & moleskin. The only way I would use them is maybe for an underpainting for pastels or in mixed media. Also used them on Bristol. They did best on it. Way way overpriced and a disappointment.

But I was craving to add these markers to my watercolor tool kit, since I wanted to be able to easily tote professional quality watercolor in my backpack, for painting away from home. I also wanted them for lettering, and just to expand my palette. The colors have a beautiful glossy clarity! The palette seems fairly well curated too, except for the omission of a light skin-tone color. There are no light or pastel colors at all. I get that those colors can be made by adding water or white watercolor paint, but with markers the general idea is convenience, so I would have appreciated a few lights or pastels, or a white, or at least an empty marker or loadable brush to fill with water. ... There are different ways to use these markers, so be sure to watch a tutorial video! I have not yet experimented with them extensively yet. Straight from the marker, the color is super intense and saturated, unless you dip the tip in water first (even then, it's pretty intense). So I use the tip to discharge the paint onto a palette first, and then dilute it and use a brush. That strategy almost defeats the portability feature, so I do want to practice using them via the "dip the tip in water" method, instead of having to rely on a palette surface, but I can tell these markers are going to require a bit of a learning curve to get nuanced results that way. So far they seem well made. I thought the larger tip would be more like a brush... it's not, it's just a big marker tip. That was a bit disappointing. I expected that I'd be able to use them like brushes that had been pre-loaded with already- transparent watercolor paint that could be built up in layers. No, these are not that, if that even exists. But they are nonetheless very cool, and seem very well made. I'm glad to have them in my stash!
I like trying new mediums. I typically do not like markers because I thought you couldn't blend them. How wrong I was. After seeing rave reviews on YouTube I bought a 30-marker set and tried them out on hot press watercolor paper myself. I'm impressed with the pigment strength and ability to blend them. What a fantastic alternative to traditional watercolor media.
