Amazing phone!

Feels modern with a gorgeous screen and responsive UI. Android very customisable. And then it is also easy to repair and reduces use of conflict metals! Fantastic

Can keep up with the big boys

I've been a long time Samsung user and got used to removable back covers and replaceable batteries. Seeing how much more annoying repairs have been getting over the past years really makes me really sad.As soon as i noticed what fairphone was doing, I was immediately intrigued. But I hesitated because up to fairphone 4, the Design seemed rather experimental. With the fairphone 5 I finally pulled the trigger. Not only did i get one for myself but also for my dad. Super happy with the experience so far.I really hope fairphone can establish themselves. Excited what the future holds!

Can't say enough good things about this phone

While it's a middle-of-the-road performer if you compare only the processing and hardware specs to other flagship phones, this device is actually a real gem. No bloatware in the included OS means it is and remains a performer when other phones bog down. The chipset is actually designed for embedded computing and it shows, as this device has the fastest I/O I've ever seen in a phone. The data coprocessing in the chipset keeps from tying up the CPU at high throughputs. It gets better throughput at lower CPU loads than top tier flagship phones. This phone will pull in a Torrent at twice the speed of my Samsung tablet. It also has the best engineered antennae and most sensitive receivers I've ever seen. It picks up phone and GPS signals in places other phones choke at. ... MoreWhile it's a middle-of-the-road performer if you compare only the processing and hardware specs to other flagship phones, this device is actually a real gem. The built-in FairphoneOS version of Android is good, but if you want a totally 100% de-Googled OS with advanced privacy features and tracker blockers, then /e/OS (by Murena) is also a great option and easily installed. That's what I use. This phone will last. My four-year-old Fairphone FP3, which started with Android 10, just got updated to Android 13. It is still a snappy, usable device and my son was happy to get it.

Fairphone 5

The best phone ever made.

Yes, it's a bit bulky but the battery life and camera far surpass other leading models. And with the option of self-repairing will certainly save money from this throwaway culture we are in.

Review of Fairphone 5 Transparent 6.46 256GB 5G Unlocked & SIM Free Smartphone

The Fairphone 5 is really nice to use and coming from a Pixel 4a is a big upgrade. The phone is not cheap if you only look at listed specs but having something that is made sustainably, and will last a long time is worth it, if you can afford it.The cameras work really well for me, and while some of the features of Google camera are now locked behind a Google One subscription in Google Photos, the Fairphone camera app has a great night mode and video recording. Portrait doesn't always blur perfectly and the wide angle lens can look a bit odd, but it's fantastic otherwise.Performance is really good, although I don't play games, and battery life has been good for me. It charges quickly with a Google 30W charger.Haptics are a bit weak, and the bezel is not really thin, but I assume this is to make an easily repairable phone. The software is a really familiar version of Android coming from a Pixel 4a, with no bloat installed.Highly recommend if you can afford it. You may not get vaunted machine learning features as you do with other manufacturers, but I don't miss that, and some of them are available with a subscription in Google Photos.
