I have been purchasing this particular kind of Fancy Food for some time now for my cats who have to take medications. They liked the taste, and the smell of the fish hides the pills. I noticed the last couple of times I ordered this that the fish looked old, it was brown and dried out, there were fish skin and bones in the food like someone had just chopped up a fish and threw it into a can. I thought I would give this kind one more try since my cats used to enjoy it so much and it worked so well with pill giving, but this last order contained far too many bones to pick out and some of the fish was quite hard and sharp (it had a plastic like texture.) I did not feel comfortable giving this to my cats, so I disposed of it. Every can I opened was the same. I opened another brand of Fancy Feast today (FF Gourmet Naturals Beef flavor) and saw bits of the can had come off from the bottom interior of the can and were floating in the food. I did not notice this until my cats had already eaten some of it. I hope they won't suffer any health effects from this. I lost quite a bit of money purchasing this cat food and I would encourage you to avoid Fancy Feast at all costs. The quality is the worst I have ever seen for the price. I have had bad experiences with Purina before, from their Purina One dry food making my cats vomit constantly, to contacting the company and them being evasive when I asked them questions, and now this - I am done with Purina for good now.

This started back in January or February of 2024. New case of the fish & shrimp from Fancy Feast. One can leaking on top layer. Horrible smell. Disposed of. Since then, I've looked closely at every can and when opened. Also, when the kitties will not touch it. I then smell it. Bad smell it gets tossed. I'd say I have thrown out 10-15 cans of this flavor. I don't need dead cats from food poisoning and fat vet bills. You see the discoloration in the pictures of this mornings can. It did stink! No pink of shrimp when decomposed. Is the sealing bad? Obviously yes. Is the food bad before canned?

I wasn't going to take your survey because I have complained about this particular one previously That time the cans not all but several smelled bad. It's fish so I fed it to them and they got sick throwing up. I decided to try it again as it was one of their favorites. This time I found a fish bone only one but it was a half an inch long and pointed. That is almost understandable, but this time every can has at least 10 pieces of black scales most are small but some were bigger & thicker so I picked them out. I did save a bone that was 1/8" wide and some scales but decided it was my fault for buying it and threw them away but I still have 12 cans left so if you want I will save some and send it to you. It's not Chewy's fault unless these are somehow seconds, where ... MoreI wasn't going to take your survey because I have complained about this particular one previously That time the cans not all but several smelled bad. Again not Chewy's fault.

Rarely do I leave reviews, and even less often for something as basic as a can of Fancy Feast. But our little guy has a sensitivity to chicken, and an aversion to the classic “pate” style cat foods. As do I-nothing like feeding mystery slop to your feline friends. After searching high and wide for a replacement for our favorite limited ingredient wet food, we found this specific Fancy Feast recipe that works great for us. It’s grain-free, chicken-free, fortified with useful essential vitamins and minerals (unlike a lot of the really expensive limited ingredient cat foods), and had actual texture to it that our cat enjoys (you can see the shrimp and fish flakes in the can). Is it premium? Not quite-these are definitely off-cuts. Is it better than the average can of ... MoreRarely do I leave reviews, and even less often for something as basic as a can of Fancy Feast. Is it a great wet food for a poultry-free, alternative protein, limited ingredient cat diet? In our experience, absolutely-worth a shot if your cat has any kind of chicken intolerance. And it’s affordable, too!
For over a year now, the Fish & Shrimp flavor has been inconsistent in its product quality. How do I know? Because my rescue cat ONLY eats the Fish & Shrimp flavor from Fancy Feast (and yes, I have tried every other brand/flavor on the market) She has had me on a rollercoaster ride for this past year with on again/off again eating. The first time she refused to eat a batch, I spent hundreds of dollars at the vet to find out why she had "no appetite" only to purchase a different lot number with a different "best by" date and watch her gobble it up. Since then it has only be tens of dollars spent in an effort to find an alternative to this brand. (sigh) No go. Every few months, she wouldn't eat a lot number. A few days ago, I opened a new case with a Nov 2025 pull date, She won't touch it. Went to the grocery store and their pull date was Dec. 2025. She ate every bite. This has been the pattern for a full year. With every Chewy shipment I hold my breath to see if this case will meet her approval but this is the final straw. I'm sorry Chewy, I love you and I know this is not your fault but, unfortunately, I don't feel comfortable ordering this product through Chewy anymore. This issue is totally on PURINA and their pathetically poor quality control. I have contacted Purina and got a ridiculous email response about the color being slightly different. Really? The COLOR?
I started feeding this to my cats a few years ago when one of them developed diabetes after a lifetime on Science Diet kibble. According to the list my vet gave me, this particular flavor has essentially 0 carbs. I tried many flavors and brands, and this seemed to be the only one they were interested in so I stuck with it. Over time I've noticed that there is not a lot of consistency from one batch or case to the next, you never know exactly what you're going to get. Sometimes my cats will devour every scrap of food from one case, only to barely touch the stuff when I start them on the next one. Quite often a lot of it remains uneaten and goes into the garbage at the next mealtime. I'm probably throwing away 50% of it on average.A few months ago when I opened a ... MoreI started feeding this to my cats a few years ago when one of them developed diabetes after a lifetime on Science Diet kibble. Quite often a lot of it remains uneaten and goes into the garbage at the next mealtime. I'm probably throwing away 50% of it on average.A few months ago when I opened a can and dumped it into the bowl it poured out like thin slop. I poured it down the sink and got a new can because I wasn't sure if it was safe to use or not. This broke up my usual cycle of feeding 4 cans a day, so I have had one random can sitting in the pantry ever since. Last night I decided to go ahead and use it up, and when I opened it, it was a completely different color and texture from the current case. It was much more pale and had a very smooth texture, compared to the current batch that is very dark and feels thick and gritty when I break it up with a fork, almost like dirt. This morning the bowl with the "old" can was licked completely clean, and the new batch is 90% uneaten. I'd noticed they seemed to eat more at some times and less at others, but I've never seen the results side by side like this before. I'm going to be looking around at other low-carb/no-carb options, and I hope I can find something that is more consistently appealing to them. Now I just need to figure out what to do with the remaining 10 cases in the pantry...
Fancy Feast Brand classics were our cats favorites over all the years we've had cats. Until now. These two sweeties had enjoyed only dry food (also good stuff), until their vet strongly suggested that adding wet food would help them have "regular" bowel habits. So, although they always drink plenty of water and are healthy, I bought Fancy Feast. Our cats tested a few cans, gave FF the "Paw's U., then I purchased a supply from Chewy.However. These two little princesses are picky! A few days of Fancy Feast and What?!I get the upturned noses and "bury it now" paws. Not sure what comes next, but in the meantime, will test a few more food choices.Anybody been through this too?Thank you Chewy for you excellent service, I'll keep trying. Two finicky felines!
The ad is mixed up above describe as chicken pate , the picture is the chicken grilled .To be clear the overall problem is the pate , chicken livers and salmon are the least tolerableI have been shopping at Canadian tire for about a year or more , average 200$ each trip ,my brother shops for one cat average 100$ , he is not having any issues although he will not buy the pate . I fill out these questionnaire each month , answers are generally all the same they hate the salmon , unavoidable if you buy the flats . I buy 120 cans per month , it be honest when they don’t eat the food or have bad reactions to it , it’s becoming a financial hardship. Other than that the reviews are always positive, not the case this time the 24 pack pate was on sale , there must be something wrong with it they refuse to eat it , this is a big problem for me I only shop once a month , Canadian tire is a long ways from where I live . Last night I went to the local store and bought two flats 12 cans fancy feast poultry pleaser , only two there the disappointment is there are only a couple grilled and sliced the rest more pate chicken livers the absolute no go for the boysI have to wonder if some times you have skunk batches , reading social media there are some grave concerns. I have very little money to live , I question if I’m doing right by them ,in the past I chalked issues up to the pandemic , their food not being available having to eat friskies dry food after a month of that their bellies looked like bowling balls , again more money wasted . It’s not like I can give it away , possibly tainted food to make other animals sick . What I have', are not fancy cats they were almost born in wild ,I was lucky to intercept, they mean the world to mean , I owe them my life . I am not trying to scam , I just wish taking the time to write these comments would have some kinda of acknowledgement or resolution to helping my boys be fed and not stock piling food they will not eatTheir coats are not healthy, that being the obvious telltale of health maybe this is wrong food or something wrong with the food
Shadow loves Fancy Feast Pate, particularly the seafood/fish flavors. We like to use the Pate because we can easily “hide” medication in the food making it easy to give her medication in food that she enjoys. It is reasonably priced at 88 cents per can.WARNING - Do not buy from the 3rd party vendor, Epitarry!!! I am currently communicating with them advertising a 24 pack for $5.33 and only shipping me 1 can! They acknowledge that it was a mistake to list the multipack at that price. They currently have done nothing in terms of charging me $5.33 for one can of Fancy Feast. Very frustrated with Epitarry, their incorrect advertisements, and their unwillingness to address the issue. My next step is just to return the can to Walmart. I am not paying $5.33 for a .88 ... MoreShadow loves Fancy Feast Pate, particularly the seafood/fish flavors. My cat Smokey will only eat this flavor FF and no other cat food dry or wet. I ordered 5 cases of it and just got around to opening the cases from this order a couple of weeks ago. She will not touch the food from 4 of the 5 cases. She gives is a sniff, walks away and comes back to bury the food. I've saved the food to try later but it's a no/go. I've added some water to try and make the mixture smell like fish but no. I've had to throw out each can as I try and get her to eat them. She is actually starving herself instead of eating the food from these cans. I decided to sniff each can that she will not eat and you can smell a very slight scent of the tuna and nothing of the fish. Also, there is hardly any broth/juice in these cans. I saved the empty boxes with the lot #s.... So one case was fine as she ate every can, it smelled like it should and had the broth/liquid. I spent over $100 for the 5 cases. Such a waste of money. I did take her to the vet to be checked and there is nothing wrong with her. I would not recommend this food at this time until they fix the product. They must have cut back or had a manufactoring problem.
