FANCY FEAST Grilled Salmon and Shrimp Feast delivers a delicious blend of real salmon and shrimp, appealing to adult cats with its rich, gourmet flavor. This wet cat food is nutritionally balanced, offering essential vitamins and minerals. Its tender texture is enticing, even for picky eaters. However, it includes some artificial additives. Overall, it’s a great option for a flavorful and nutritious feline meal.

Since I feed about half-dozen neighborhood strays, I bought a case of Salmon because it was the least expensive of all the varieties. My own cat (who used to be one of those strays) isn’t a fan but I figured this was better than dumpster diving, right? Apparently not! If I give them the Salmon once every few days, they’ll begrudgingly eat it but if it’s more than that, the food will sit. The other day it sat overnight, so not even the foxes and raccoons that come at night and do “clean up” wanted to eat it. I even joked to my husband that the flies refused it. I guess I now know why this is the most inexpensive flavor. Maybe your cat will be different but the consensus in my little part of the world is that cats would rather hunt or forage than eat this particular food.

Not sure why - perhaps because Fancy Feast is promoting it's own subscription / custom boxes IPO the Seafood and Poultry-Beef 24 packs. A couple months ago, the standard varieties ( grilled: Seafood, Salmon, Chicken and Beef ) seemed to change. Both cats developed insatiable appetites along with increase in stomach distress. Now one of the boys won't eat the Seafood or the Salmon, which used to be favorite. Prices are staggering, to the point of considering making their food and adding recommended nutrients (e.g. taurine). Greatest concern is voracious appetites, similar to Temptations "kitty crack"...

I didn't taste BUT I had to chop it up for my 19 year-old cat
15 November 2023

I have a 19 year old Persian cat that means the world to me, as I assisted in his birthing delivery in 2004. He eats kibble in between his morning and nightly canned feedings. Although he appears to like the flavor, he is only licking up all the juice. I wish Fancy Feast would either make just the juice, or do something with the food that would make it more tender. I know it is tough, because I have to chop it into fine pieces with a razor blade. Not even a fork will mush this food. This is not the only flavor of fancy feast in which I have noticed this terrible change. He has been eating FF his whole life and he does like the flavor. It is only recently that we noticed the degradation in quality of the actual food. I wish Fancy Feast would bring back the old recipes. Why change what was working? I may have to switch brands. I would NOT recommend this item to anyone, but for now, I will continue to feed him the juice and I will continue to chop his food twice a day with the razor blade and hope he laps up some of the solid food. What a waste of money.

I love the stuff but my cats are finicky
13 June 2024

I've purchased a 24 pack several times. Each time my cats either love it or leave it. This past year I no longer order it with every Auto-ship. I get it now every other order. Maybe the fur kids have eaten too often. I like the price. It doesn't stink of salmon when left in the bowl for a few hours. the only thing I would note is perhaps it has to do with the lot or processing and canning, is that sometimes it is minced finely and other times I use a fork & knife to cut the larger bits smaller as both my kids are in their senior years and have some missing teeth.

Mixing up the food options
28 July 2021

I buy a case each of four different flavors of Fancy Feast so my boys have a variety of food from one day to the next. They were starting to leave food behind on their plates, or pushing it off the plates while licking up the gravy, so I needed to find some new options. A friend had given me some cans of FF chicken flavor, which They loved when they were kittens, and got a case because they acted as if I hadn't fed them in weeks. Half way through that case my furry seafood snobs were done with chicken. So I tried other flavors that were retired from their food rotation and brought back this flavor. Salmon ANYTHING is always a good choice; salmon with GRAVY?! Holy cow! Now has a MUSHY consistency and HAIR in the can this morning!
30 August 2020

I have feeding fancy feast to our cats for over 12 years, and the cat before the current group another 12. The last batch of Fancy Feast, particularly Salmon Feast in gravy and the Chicken Feast in gravy are really, really mushy. Our cat, who usually love these two, are turning their nose up to it half the time. Some cans just don't smell right when just opened and I have thrown it out. This morning when I opened a new can of Salmon, I spooned it out onto the plate and there was a hair in the food---not mine--it had clumps of salmon bits attached to it! I've taken a photo and am going to write to Purina this morning. Our cats predominately eat Purina products (prescription dry and Fancy Feast) and now I am wondering about their quality control. And I am certain they changed their formula for at least the cat food in gravy. Not sure if anyone else has noticed this change. Since I am a long time user of this product, I've noticed the difference. I am going to be looking for another BRAND of wet food that all four cats will all like. Purina, love hate?

With the cats being so picky, having a ready staple meal is good. Fancy feast comes close.Fortunately, Fancy Feast was only hit by quality problems around the "best before 2022/03", which should have been made during the 2020/03 COVID lockdown. Per the cats' head-turning nose-snubbing reactions: taste , smell, texture, and size are different compared to earlier and later batches. Thankfully, manually cutting the bigger chunks with scissors gets the chunks into an cat-ceptable size. The 2022/04 seems ok , but it will take a while to cut through the 2022/03 batch.Quality control was worse with other Purina products which we stopped buying. Now we're wondering whether we'll need to stockpile even more Fancy Feast, but sample test a can, so we can return weird ... MoreWith the cats being so picky, having a ready staple meal is good. Surprisingly, canned chunk tuna is cat-ceptable, but not pan grilled wild salmon.

One can of this food was mixed in a case of Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers Salmon. I opened it to see what my boys would think and they loved it. Needless to say we now include this food in our Chewy.com order.Rain and Reed are happy that this one can was mixed in with the other food because they now have another Fancy Feast favorite. They each give this 2 paws up and I give it 5 Stars.
