This is the second time I have tried the G6 Max (tried one two months ago).Build quality is a plus - though it's pretty slippery in the hands.However, it continues to have serious problems regardless of the firmware updates that keep rolling out. It always gets stuck in a constant clockwise rotation along horizontal and you have to keep resetting center, this is especially prevalent in Lock Mode - yep, put this thing in LK mode and it will slowly turn away from center. Maybe LK mode actually means look around mode? When using the joystick to recenter, it will start inching its way clockwise again. It shutters in All Follow mode, even if it was balanced well and handling Pan Follow and Tilt Follow fine. It gets a bad hitch when doing a pan/tilt from left to right ... I watched quite a few videos on the best budget gimbals (I'm not a serious vlogger, etc.; I'm a realtor and I primarily got this to do videos of homes). The Zhiyun Smooth 5 was my other option and the only thing that holds back the Feiyutech G6 Max is the app. It works, but it's not as good as the Smooth 5, which can be used in Filmic Pro as an alternative to its already great app. If the Smooth 5 would have worked with more than just a smartphone, I would have gone with that one. Back to the G6 Max, I have bought a couple of new phone holders (ones that stretch instead of ones that screw down... the knob from the screw down ones tend to hit part of the gimbal if I flip the phone over to get a close to the ground view). The one that comes with it isn't really ready for my phone (Pixel 6 Pro) with a case (I'd rather keep it in the case if I can, but if when I get the holders, I have to remove the case, oh well).

Great small gimbal for the price! I have owned many gimbals. I currently own, the DJI Ronin S, The ZhiYun Crane M2 and now the Feiyutech G6 Max. I much prefer the G6 Max to the ZhiYun Crane M2. For not much more weight, you can carry twice the payload. I will be selling the M2. The size is the advantage. I can stick it in a small backpack and get real great footage without lugging around a 5lbs setup. Here's the downside. The app leaves something to be desired. The design is clunky. I also wish I could adjust some settings without the use of the phone. For example, the time-lapse settings. The last downside is sometimes the panning isn't smooth. The cables that come with it are great and make it really easy to stop and start recording etc. It has wifi for this and this is the main feature I brought the gimbal for so I could control the camera via wifi quickly and easily but this is the only area where I am having problems. Once you connect the gimbal and go pro together via the app the gimbal is meant to remember the connection so you don't have to input the details everytime but this is what I am having to do. It's lightweight, and it handles my less-than-one-pound Sony well. But after about 6 months the on/off button stopped working. Feiyu replaced it but it took multiple emails, and they replaced it with a used one. I could have waited several months, according to them, for a new one, but I couldn't wait that long. The used one arrived with a glitchy roll axis lock, but I made it work. Now another 6 months down the road the pan axis lock has broken, and it's out of warranty. It's still usable as a gimbal, but sometimes I had used it as a little tripod, and since I can no longer lock the pan axis I can't use it that way any longer. I wouldn't buy another one.
Write-up is quite specific - works with GoPro Hero 8. Ordered the G6 - shipping from B & H as usual was fast and issue free. Can't mount either of my new Hero 8's. If you look hard enough, you'll find additional information - requires special adapter that doesn't come with it. B&H doesn't carry the adapter, it must be ordered from FeiyuTech. It's only 10 bucks - no biggie. Ordered one and have been waiting for over a month for the adapter. Feiyu says shipped from China over a month ago. Right. Strongly suggest you go with the Zhiyun or DJI product. This company is not worth the wait.
We've ordered that product because it was supposed to be a versatile gimbal. After using in a professional environment, I can tell you that this gear is not up to the task. The user manual says it supports the Canon EOR series, but it doesn't. I tried a Nikon Z6, with a 50mm prime lens for the same result. I could only use it with an iphone, otherwise it couldn't perform the balance, no matter how many times I've tried to set it up.So, don't waist your time, and pick a different brand, I'm returning that one for a better one.
If you use external lens, step up rings and VND filters this gimbal is not strong enough to handle the weight. Even though the actual weight of my iPhone 11 pro kit is not over the the gimbal payload of 2.6 lbs it has more to do with where the lens are that cause the tilt motor to strain, heat up and basically not move. My system is an iPhone 11 pro, Moment case, Moment anamorphic lens, Moment 52mm filter adapter, 52mm to 62mm step up ring, Tiffin 62mm VND filter. Im planning a cage and mic so not a chance the G6 Max could handle it. Also the phone clamp that comes with this gimbal will not work with a case.It works great just with the phone, no case and no attachments. Realized right away there's not enough room for adjustment to balance just the GoPro in the cage with no mic! Mounted my Comica Traxshot mic just to verify and that made it way worse. Banged up the screen on my brand new Traxshot trying to balance it because its impossible for it not to collide with the roll arm. RMA'ing for a much larger Ronin SC gimbal-- all just to hold a tiny GoPro and a mic which is way under the weight limit.
