Felco 2 Secateurs

These are easily the best pruners I've ever owned (ok I've only ever bought the $10 Friskars, so there's not much of a comparison.) They are super sturdy and sharp. The only concern I have is that (see photo) I'm an above average size guy and they barely fit in my hand when fully open. I also would not recommend pruning anything woody larger than say 1/4 or maybe 3/8 of an inch (the series 6 photo shows them cutting through a wooden stem) I'd stick with loppers for that! In any event, I'll be buying a (smaller) pair for my mom. Thanks to the EG crew for suggesting an appropriate size!

Could pruning shears be any sharper? From experience, I can easily say, "No."

My landscaper suggested these shears,,so I bought a pair. Well worth having. They cut through just about anything in my garden,and with great ease. When I received the shears, I went out to the garden with the intention of cutting back the dead growth from last year. On the very first plants I intended to cut back, I cut my finger. I had grabbed a handful of dead stems, went in for the cut, and snipped my finger. Blood everywhere. Had to stop to bandage my finger, and that put an end to the days gardening activities, lol. Obviously, the blades are very sharp and do a great job, which makes for easy pruning. They feel good in the hand, they make the task of pruning a breeze, which makes them an essential garden tool.

Felco 2 Original Secateurs, a cut above the rest.

Because I'm not keen on shopping I prefer to buy great quality, dependable, long lasting stuff that has lots of positive reviews on the internet. It saves me from buying things that need to be replaced frequently. My latest acquisition of Felco 2 Original Secateurs meets all the above criteria. I do lots of gardening and my Felco 2 Originals make easy and pleasing work of pruning, cutting, trimming and more. They do clean cuts and are easy to use. The design, manufacture and guarantee make them my No1 choice for my garden. I know I'm going to get lots of years of service from them, so though they are initially pricey, in the long term they will prove to be excellent purchase.

Only a *lot* of time will tell if they are as good as their reputation! Initially, I found the latch very stiff and difficult to operate with its low profile. However, the screw can easily be loosened slightly - it remains to be seen if it retains the adjusted setting or continues to slacken. A very small, flat 'spanner' is provided for the main spindle nut lock plate and latch screws, but there is insufficient room to use it on the latch screw and it probably doesn't have enough leverage to operate the lock plate screw satisfactorily (I haven't tried that) - it will easily become lost. Fortunately, both screws have hexagon heads and screwdriver slots. The surface machining on the handle casting (non-cutting) left some quite sharp edges - which were easily smoothed ... MoreOnly a *lot* of time will tell if they are as good as their reputation! Highest Quality shears available

There are a number of other quality shears out there, but good handles make the difference! These handles are solid not tubular, they are a bit heavier, but will not flex, bend or break under any circumstances. The jaws are sharp and hold their edge exceptionally well. If for some unforseen reason you damage the jaws, you can easily replace them. The best shears I've ever used. Truly a once in a lifetime purchase.

Poor quality

The first thing I cut was a pencil thin Lantana branch. The blade dented the blade and would not close. I used a pruning file and reshaped the blade and it worked for a while. Next the latch began to move freely while using the shears. This caused it to frequently lock while using. The problem now is that the spring is not strong enough to keep the blade open. I have to wrap my fingers around the handles, and manually open them after each cut. The pruner is only about two weeks old, and has proven worthless to me in the garden.

The BEST Pruning Shears, PERIOD

The Fiskars are nice, at least theyre ok, and all the other ones you can find in Big Box stores are probably worth the money you pay, but the professionals use these. I havent gotten into the details of the differences between the other Felcos, like the #7 and #9, etc., but Ive owned a pair of these for 40 years. Lost the last ones in a move and my wife bought a pair of Fiskars and they arent terrible, but when the jaws of a small branch bends instead of a clean cut, its frustrating. That doesnt happen with the Felcos. Just buy them, you know you want to - they ARE worth the money.

These are the best you can buy. Ignore the price.

Just bought a pair for my son. I still use my father's pair which would have to be at least 50 years old. All still original apart from the spring. The red handle covers wore out 10 years ago. My father used them on an almost daily basis.

They become a perfect gardener's companion !

The Felco No 2 are excellently made, they are strong and comfortable to use. They are the secateurs used by professional gardeners. To my horror my first pair were accidentally dropped into my garden bin, forgotten and lost. I made sure to purchase a leather holster connected onto the belt on my jeans. When you are not using the secateurs they are safely placed into the holster. It's a must, again that is what professional gardeners do.

Very comfortable for older hands

Same high quality as previous Felco purchases. The slightly longer handle makes a real, positive difference for larger hands. The price is high but it is the best. Corona is less expensive and still good quality, but not as comfortable.
