Pros: Double-wall insulated design does help keeping the coffee slurry much hotter than a Kalita 185. More draining holes leads to a higher flow rate than Kalita 185 but still lower than a plastic V60. The design itself is very aesthetic looking. With the Rao-Gagné modding (a piece of stainless steel mesh strainer place at the bottom of the dripper, below the filter paper), it could maintain a constantly high flow rate throughout the brew.Cons: The edges of the dosing aid and funnel seems to be too thin and sharp. The silicon gasket at the bottom makes it incredibly hard to swirl the dripper in the blooming phase and after the final pour. Also, the gasket makes it harder to place the dripper perfectly level, even used together with Fellow's own tasting ... If you are busy heading out the door in the mornings but still want a good cup of consistent and tasty pour-over coffee...look no further! this is it! fill it up with water and call it done! I am a big fan of pour-over coffees mainly because it can extract all the different flavors it calls out on a bag of coffee but sometimes I get lazy and just want a good cup of coffee and do not want to go thru all the pouring techniques but I still want all the sweetness, well-balanced citrusy from my beans. As much as this dripper looks kinda in an unusual shape compared to your traditional coffee dripper and you might think that how good could your coffee taste when you are just going to fill up the dripper with water, the coffee that came out of it is going SHOCK you! they ... I love this!! I’m a bit clumsy, sometimes, so I wanted some thing that wouldn’t immediately break when I inevitably knocked it over. This works beautifully with the fellow travel mug as well. It keeps your coffee hot while it’s brewing. It has an amazing weight to it, and makes perfect coffees 10/10!!

Love this individual mug pour-over! Great for camping. I wanted something for our RV & this works perfectly. Love that the base is measuring unit for the coffee. Bonus for me that I can take on kayak camping trips also.
Love the look of this pour-over, and it fits perfectly with the thermos. A+ on aesthetics and balance. But there are some issues with the functionality and wonder why they ultimately chose this shape over something more conical?Unlike a traditional pour-over setup, the filters here have big ridges and don't cling flat to the sides, and the pour over itself is straight and narrow. This adds up to a difficult time getting the grinds into the filter without getting coffee in unwanted areas. Perhaps a different filter would make this a more enjoyable experience, or a slightly tapered design that works better with the filters provided.
It's a well-designed product, especially when paired with other Fellow products such as the Stagg kettle. It makes pre-heating and use much easier and smarter, and the taste profile is differentiated from V60 or other cone shaped brewers. It extracts sweeter and stronger profiles better. Overall, an excellent product.
Overall I'm not a huge fan of this brewer. I wanted to like it but it has a lot going against it that makes that difficult. First and foremost it doesn't do anything to speed up making your morning cup of coffee. Everything about brewing with this brewer is slower than the benchmark Hario V60. Preparing the filter takes longer because it's hard to separate them. Balancing the brewer on a mug can be tricky sometimes as the brewer isn't really compatible with every mug. If the seal gets wet (and it will) it tends to slip around and not stay level on the mug which can be extremely annoying as you're pouring 205F water hoping it doesn't decide to fall over. Fellow anticipated this, of course, and recommend that you brew on their custom designed glassware that balances ... MoreOverall I'm not a huge fan of this brewer. Fellow anticipated this, of course, and recommend that you brew on their custom designed glassware that balances this brewer properly. Not worth it in my opinion. Also, it ships with a funnel to place your grinds properly - honestly the funnel works well but it's one more thing you need to do to prepare your cup of coffee. The coating on it isn't bad but it's not very aesthetic in my opinion. The brewer clips together with its bottom and funnel but it's finicky and seems to put a lot of pressure on the seal which makes it seem like it'll reduce the life of the seal.Honestly, stay away. This IS NOT an hybrid immersion/pour over brewer. If you want one of those get a Hario Switch. This brewer is not worth the money and the custom filters are not worth the hassle. It doesn't brew a better cup of coffee than a Hario V60 or even the Melitta. That said, I'm giving it two stars instead of one because it does brew a good cup of coffee after all of the hassle. Just not a better one than cheaper, faster, easier-to-clean brewers.
Did not use (returned) so can only rate on the appearance of the item. Looks extremely well made/sturdy and likely would hold up very well. I chose to return it because it seems to require a slow pour with a gooseneck type kettle, of which I do not have nor was I planning to buy. I prefer the ease of the OXO single brew pour over with the vessel that sits covered while the coffee brews and drips. Was looking for a sturdy, non plastic version of this, which I thought the Fellows was, but is not, therefore returned.
I have become a big fan of Fellow products as I continue to explore pour-over. They never disappoint, and the Fellow Stagg XF Pour-Over Dripper is no exception. It is easy to use, very consistent, and I can get my first two cups of coffee going in the morning even if I'm not at my best. I still use various other methods, however, they are generally for single cups and require more attention to detail. The only negative I have experienced with this product has been when making single cups, it does seem to allow the water to flow too quickly when using smaller amounts of coffee. No problems when making two cups, and in fairness, they have another product designed for single cups.
As with all Fellow products, the design is impeccable. It’s a bit strange at first because of small diameter, unlike a wide open V60. Taste is great and my wife actually prefers this over V60. Delightful to use but you really need a gooseneck kettle. The drip cup is pure genius. Goes super well with their double-walled carafe.
