This shredder Shreds 6 sheets for superior security. It turns the papers into confetti. It's not like other paper shredders which shreds paper into strips which possibly could be put back together. In addition to paper, it can also shreds staples, paper clips and credit cards. It shreds for up to 5 minutes before a cool down period is needed allowing you to complete medium-sized shredding jobs in one sitting. This is an incredible shredder for a small office or home.

Constantly jams can not shred 12 pages at once

We bought this about a month ago and the shred is good nice small pieces and not overly noisy. However, it can not do more than 4 sheets of paper at a time or it will jam. When trying to feed in large volumes you have to wait after each set of pages for it to stop completely before adding anymore, it runs on for a while trying to clear the cutters. If you don't wait it will jam. It's very disappointing and not as per the specification. Perhaps 12 sheets of tissue paper. We use a disposable bamboo knife to clear the slot after it jams (turn the power off first). It will reverse and you can remove the paper but this will cause the fine cut paper to build up and block the slot.

I found the Fellowes 12C shredder at my local Walmart after looking at many different shredders and reading their reports on-line. My old shredder of a different brand from a national office supply chain needed replacing (worn and noisy nylon gears) after over 15 years of home use and I wanted to upgrade from a standard shred size to a micro-cut. The Fellowes 12C filled my criteria of compact size, decent capacity, ease of use, micro-cutting, attractiveness, reasonable price, and good reviews. The box and internal packaging adequately protected the unit and still made it easy to unpack and assemble. Have used it a few times and it is indeed quiet. It has somewhat of a higher pitched sound instead of the louder rumble of my older one. Have used it a few times and it is indeed quiet. It has somewhat of a higher pitched sound instead of the louder rumble of my older one. I suppose this to be because of the finer cut. Access to the bin for emptying is easy and the bin seems to hold a lot because of the finer shred. Material thickness of the bin seems on the thin side. At least, it is thinner than my old one which did get banged around a little on emptying. It held up but still, I can't say how this one will handle similar treatment. Doesn't do CDs but it does do staples, light paper clips and credit cards. However, I refrain from doing these to prolong the life of my shredders. The only point I would suggest for improving this unit would be to move the power switch from the back to either the side or on top. If one puts the unit up against a wall, like I do, it is difficult to reach and I have to lean the unit forward to access it. Not a big deal but still an inconvenience. Haven't yet shredded a lot of material in it so its reliability still remains to be seen. Shredding I have done so far has been great. I give this product a 5 star rating assuming the reviews I've read are accurate regarding reliability Overall, great unit!

Not the Quality you would Expect from Fellowes

Shredder was always well cared for, never overloaded or run longer than about 5 minutes. It was oiled regularly with Fellowes shredder oil After 20 months of service the front right caster broke off due to flimsy construction of the unit. Shortly after that shredder quit completely only a high pitched whine came from the unit every time a sheet of paper was inserted. Our previous Fellowes shredder lasted 12 years and then went to Goodwill where I'm sure it's still going strong. We were concerned initially with the flimsy quality of the new shredder compared to the old one but because it was a Fellowes we decided to go with it. We were wrong. Not very happy.

I got this a few weeks ago and decided to use it for the first time today. It does cut fine so that is good. It struggles with 6 sheets so had to go down to 5 But it overheated within 2 minutes of continuous use. So don't believe the medium-sized shredding in one sitting statement or up to 5 minutes before a cool down is needed. This is going to take what should have been a 5 minute job and turn it into 3 sessions with cool downs in between. And it is very hot and smells like melted plastic, so no telling how long it is going to take to cool down or if it's even going to be okay to use. I'm not going to do more than a few at a time when it does because this does not seem safe to me at all. It's been about 10 minutes and still waiting. Powershred 6C Shredder (Cross Cut) 230V Uk
1 December 2022

In your advertisement of this shredder it says it can shred CDs. However, on page one of the manual, it says not to shred CDs. Which is it How can you advertise a feature and then suggest you not use that feature Also the cross cut on the shredder leaves a lot to be desired. It looks like a strip cut with each strip being torn into only three or four pieces. The pieces are much too large for my peace of mind. I will use an ink roller to black out the most important information, but my point in buying a new shredder was so I would not have to do this. My old shredder cut much smaller pieces. I will stick to that brand, not this one. Very disappointing.

SOLID SHREDDER
25 June 2022

Before you buy and if you, RESEARCH. DO RESEARCH. It’s a SOLID shredder. There’s a lot of people bashing the shredder but honestly it’s SOLID. It’s a low power shredder, do not overload it. It’s gotten stuck a few times but is easily fixable. “The shredder sucks” is literally because of human error. Read the directions and take care of it. It does the job. You get what you pay for, if you want a high volume and power you’ll need to spend $100 . It’s a solid cheap shredder, would recommend.

So far, so good.

I shred everything from bank statements to junk mail - anything with a name on it - so any would-be dumpster divers won't get anything useful from my trash. My old 6-sheet micro cut shredder is finally wearing out after nearly 14 years of heavy household use - it's ripping as much as cutting the papers I feed in - so I purchased this Fellowes 62MC 10-sheet shredder. It's about the same size as my old shredder but weighs about 4 pounds more, most of that weight in the removable power head. I keep the shredder in my kitchen under the toaster oven cabinet so it's out of the way, but the casters make it easy to pull out for my everyday shredding. It's quieter than the old one, shreds to about the same size as the old one used to, and will do 10 sheets at a time. This Fellowes doesn't seem to provide for cutting up CD's like my old shredder - admittedly, a rarely used function - but otherwise, it seems to be a step up.

The Best Shredder I have ever Owned!
10 October 2022

I purchased this Microshred 62MC back in August, 2020 to replace a Royal brand shredder that had become inoperable; the Fellowes Microshred 62MC is a far superior shredder--the best one that I have ever owned! I have never had a jam, even when trying to shred as-much-as 20 stapled sheets of paper, credit cards or similar plastic material. This shredder has a large capacity, is very easy to empty, and I reuse the included Waste Bag so I don't have to keep buying new ones. They key to good performance and longevity is to perform proper maintenance; that is to remove any paper shards from the Cutters (from my experience, there really isn't too much residue) and lubricate the Cutters with a high quality vegetable based lubricant that is specifically designed for shredders.

Waste of money
27 April 2023

I purchased this shredder for personal use at home. I was taken in by the good reviews and did not bother to read the poor reviews but wished I had. Whilst this shredder did not cost a fortune it failed to deliver on expectation. Although the spec says it can take up to 6 sheets, it seemed to struggle to accept 2 sheets of normal paper so only fed one sheet at a time but still unhappy with how it performed. Paper built up around the cutting teeth and did not fall freely into the waste bin, meaning within less than the 3 minutes operating time, I had to pull paper from the teeth in order to shred further paper. I also found a fair amount of dust built up both in the tray and round the teeth and where you feed the paper in.
