The Fender Stratocaster since the dawn of the electric guitar, the Strat has seen itself become the most loved and most iconic electric guitar of all time. Fender s new Pro II series has breathed new life into Strat, whilst remaining true to all the elements which have made the Strat the beloved icon it is today. This, the American Professional II Stratocaster takes full inspiration from over 60 years of innovation, inspiration and evolution to meet and even surpass the demands of the modern player. Fender s ever popular Deep C neck now features super-smooth rolled fingerboard edges, a Super-Natural satin finish and a newly designed sculpted neck heel for a magnificently comfortable feel and simple access to the upper registers. Fender included their new V-Mod II Stratocaster single-coil pickups to deliver greater articulation than ever before, all whilst retaining that inimitable bell-like chime and warmth that can only come from the Stratocaster. Also new to American Pro II series is an upgraded 2-point tremolo with a cold-rolled steel block to increase sustain, clarity and that high-end sparkle. When you purchase your American Pro II Stratocaster, you ll be greeted with that instant familiarity and sonic flexibility the Strat has become famous for, but with a broad range of improvements which all add up to nothing less than the new standard for professional musical instruments.

Almost too beautiful to play.

I found a 2023 version of this guitar in the used section at GC. I could not believe anyone had ever played it. It's absolutely pristine. The pictures that I've seen don't do justice to the finish. After changing strings I decked the vibrato, did a quick setup, and it was ready to play. The V-mods are particularly bright on the pine body, but the tone controls lets you get that under control easily enough. I'm not finding much use for the push-push switch, but some players will. The neck has a little body to it that may attract folks that have more vintage preferences.I have trouble putting it back in the case at the end of the day. It's such a stunner.

Overall:Unreal worlds better than the Post CBS Strat I first innocently bought in 1973. Fender guy ONLY all my life with Tele’s and Jazzy’s too. But the American Pro II’s Strat’s neck gets sweeter - more to anchor holding on as you go up. High jumbo frets are a dream. Pickups shine with body as well. Harmonics are insane. Wish all my Strats had the Pro II neck. Feels nothing like the American Vintage line, which is a tough ride and not for beating up as much. The Pro Ii is a modern workhorse with 2 new pickup very usable sounds added. I got Miami Blue and Coral Pink. Love em.

An Awesome American Strat - Flawless

I purchased a SSS American Pro II Strat in Mercury, with GC ponying up BOTH a LARGE discount AND 48-month zero financing. I was planning on having a pro setup done, but the guitar came perfectly new and setup right out of the case. I only had to lower the action a small bit and tweak the intonation a very small bit. I am leaving with normal 'float' like Leo intended. Tuning stability is top notch; this never goes out of tune (although I am an infrequent trem user). Regardless, the tuning stability with a 'float' is impressive. I really like a LOT the new push-push neck-pickup functionality as it really goes great with the bridge pickup. The case is awesome, too. Guitar was flawless without any issues whatsoever. Fantastic Guitar !

Overall:I had forgotten how the Fender neck fits my hand like a glove and this guitar certainly does that. Also, it is exceptionally gorgeous in the Dark Night color, and needing a guitar that is lighter than my Gibson Les Paul Classic after having a 2nd back surgery, this Strat definitely fits the bill (I don't know the exact weight of the Les Paul or Strat (I think the listed weights include the hard shell cases) but the Strat is significantly lighter. On the down side, I was disappointed to find that the strat comes with the "plastic" molded case and did not include a strap (not even a nylon seat belt strap) while in contrast the Les Paul came with a traditional Gibson case and premium leather strap. Moreover, the Les Paul was set up near perfectly out of the box while the Stratocaster needs a set up to get the strings evenly distributed above the neck for the entire length of the fretboard. Finally, the American Owner's manual is mostly in Espanol (which I do NOT speak nor read) and especially pertinent is the section describing the installation and use of the tremolo arm is entirely in espanol; which, after popping the tremolo arm in (wit with a LOT of force) will NOT come out : I ended up having to turn to YouTube to discover this is a common issue with the Fender tremolo arms. Overall I am VERY pleased with the purchase but I cannot help noting that Fender could have done better : better case (unless you don't mind plastic) a strap could have been included, the set up could be MUCH better, and the owner's manual certainly SHOULD be in (or at VERY least contain both) ENGLISH for an AMERICAN edition of guitar. Aside from these issues the guitar feels, plays, and sounds FANTASTIC.Bob H.

Fender finally stole me away from PRS!
22 November 2024

I've been a PRS guy for 25 years. I love their stuff, but it was time for a change. I traded in my PRS S2 McCarty 594 on this one in the Mystic Surf Green color (which is gorgeous in person). The color reminded my younger daughter of Elsa from Frozen, but I couldn't name my guitar after a Disney character. Instead, I named her Elsie - named after my grandmother's sister who died at age 7 from Bright's Disease.Anyways -- I've always loved the Fender sound, but couldn't find a strat that I connected with. You know how that goes sometimes - the sky opens up, and a light from heaven shines down on the guitar that you're meant to have. That's what happened with me. Pretty sure angels were singing as well.I didn't buy it that day. I went home, did my research, got permission from the wife, and even she likes the look and sound better than the PRS. I don't think I'll ever get rid of this one. My adult daughter is learning to play, so maybe it'll become hers many decades from now.I'm playing it at church through a Blackstar combo amp, and at home through a Fender Mustang Micro Plus headphone amp.

Great Guitar
19 September 2024

I ordered this guitar about 2 weeks ago and have been playing it since it arrived. The Sienna Sunburst finish is awesome and it allows the woodgrain to show through, which is nice. I have three strats in my collection now, all American Professionals and I can tell the difference between these and the earlier models. I never bought a strat or tele because the necks were far too thin for me. Paper thin is how I described them. Being a Gibson man for many years, I always liked that beefy neck where you could get your hand around it and really dig into the fretboard. With these, the problem has been solved. The necks are rounder and really feel good. Of course, that's not where it ends. This new strat also has that push/push switch that activates the neck pick up with ... MoreI ordered this guitar about 2 weeks ago and have been playing it since it arrived. This new strat also has that push/push switch that activates the neck pick up with the bridge and the second position as well. It gives it a beefier tone in my opinion and it should have been thought of long ago. But I love it. Just the way this guitar looks alone on a stand is something special on it's own. I plan on using it for many recordings and, if possible live performances as well. As always, Brad was a big help and I always enjoy how I get a confirmation call when I order anything from Sweetwater. They know what customer service is all about and I rarely shop anywhere else when I'm in need of music gear. If you are thinking of ordering one of these, please do. I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as I do.

Master of clean tones
13 February 2023

The Fender American Professional II really shines on all the clean tones, it's amazing. I can't compare the clarity of the tones with any other guitar I own, including a Fender telecaster and a Gibson les Pauls (they have other merits). The push/push button is a nice added feature, and though they sell it as a telecaster sound, it still can't beat the real deal. It does give you some more sound range nevertheless. The power behind the pickups is also very noticeable which makes it even better.Coming to playability, the maple neck feels like silk. It is so smooth and soft to play you'd just grab the guitar for the sole purpose of sliding your fingers across the fretboard. The entire instrument shows craftsmanship and sturdiness. For that you need real hum buckers. The final verdict is that this is an amazing instrument and I'm going to love every minute playing it.

My first strat, and I'm loving it

I've been a Gibson/PRS guy for 30 years. I got used to those fatter necks, and could never connect with anything Fender because of the neck. But I got saw this on a scratch and dent sale in Richmond VA. I loved the color, and I've always loved the Strat sound, so I gave it whirl. It's the first Fender that's really spoken to me. It never really got those single coil sounds quite right though, and I'm really enjoying this as something new/different than anything I've had before.

A Strat has been on my wishlist for a very long time!Buying one has been a "Goldilocks" experience (not spending too little or too much and not getting an under or over specified model). After a LOT of research and sampling (let's face it, the sheer variety of Fender and non-Fender models is daunting and bewildering), I finally settled on this Fender Professional II in classic livery.I know it's always going to be down to personal taste but I think the instrument really is a work of art.The price was very competitive and, from the playability standpoint, the quality really shows (again it maybe a subjective thing to me: I'm sure there are other less expensive and non-Fender Strats out there which may deliver the same or better experience).Anderton's sales ... MoreA Strat has been on my wishlist for a very long time!Buying one has been a "Goldilocks" experience (not spending too little or too much and not getting an under or over specified model). After a LOT of research and sampling (let's face it, the sheer variety of Fender and non-Fender models is daunting and bewildering), I finally settled on this Fender Professional II in classic livery.I know it's always going to be down to personal taste but I think the instrument really is a work of art.The price was very competitive and, from the playability standpoint, the quality really shows (again it maybe a subjective thing to me: I'm sure there are other less expensive and non-Fender Strats out there which may deliver the same or better experience).Anderton's sales experience was, as ever, top notch and hassle free.Anyway, I'm having fun playing the Strat which, after all, really is the point of the whole thing!
