Fender Jim Root Jazzmaster Guitar | Flat Black

If you read nothing else read this: I 100% recommend AMS and will be giving them my business exclusively. However I do not recommend this guitar, there are much better options for the price.First guitar I received came with one pickup unscrewed and hanging loose. One of the string guides in the back was not seated all the way, and two strings were broken (completely corroded. Immediately restrung with new strings, completely unplayable due to extreme buzz (put standard 10-46 strings on, tune to E). Called AMS and they were super cool about the exchange and overnighted me a replacement (in addition to a few packs of strings). AMS is amazing. I’ve purchased countless guitars over the year from Ibanez, Gibson, Schecter, and PRS. Some more expensive and some less. This guitar feels and plays like a $400 guitar - I truly believe you’re paying for the Jim Root hype. I personally purchased because of the look and simplicity, not because I’m a JR/Slipknot fanboy.

Jazzmaster with emg pickups, a 70s era headstock, plain and simple with one volume no tone not to mention the man behind this axe. Fender absolutely did this justice. The body is thick and beefy to deliver that tone that you can’t explain. The sustain is incredible.I played it right out of the case and have loved every minute of it. I haven’t modded a thing only threw new strings on it. The shipping was awesome, I reviewed my guitar in two days upon payment and the packing was safe and sound. AMS delivered greatly and the staff was informative and genuine in answering any questions that I had about my order or my payment arrangement. Fender typically isn’t a guitar brand that you’d associate with metal music, but don’t think they’re not capable of it. This guitar is the perfect example of this. Awesome features like active EMG pickups, a beefy mahogany body, and my favorite feature, a beautiful ebony fretboard. The neck is actually very fitting for hard rock/metal styles, in my opinion. It’s not ultra thin like a Jackson, or ESP, but it’s the perfect combination for fast soloing on the higher frets, and fat enough to chug on the lower ones. All around, it’s a great instrument with great sound and playability. You really cannot go wrong with an American made Fender. Fit and finish has always been top notch on these instruments in my experience with them. Best Guitar period- and not because of what u think!

This guitar as a whole is perfect- the neck is the BEST I've ever played. The body and the matte black - sweet!!!! I have one and I modified it though from a one volume to two independent and a kill switch and different pups - I'm NOT a signature fan.This guitar as a whole is VERY underrated and sure beats out the Meteora when it comes to anything off the cuff. Plus you get a ton of case candy and a GG case black and white fabric. Hence why I will get another . Trust me - you will love this axe !! Who cares if Jim Root put his name to it - he doesn't even play this model. Fender should do a totally different version of this but with 3 witch hat knobs , black and white Dimarzio pickups!! Which ones? Hey Fender - give me a holla- u need a fresh bended vision.Brexxe B

Great guitar but not worth the price tag...

Overall:I've owned the guitar for around a year now and I'm thinking of selling at already for a few reasons. Now dont get me wrongs, It's a great guitar with quality tone woods but it really wasn't built the way it should have been with a price tag like that. The first month of owning the guitar, The screws holding the pickups were falling out by themselves and so where the screws near the pickup selector aswell. The guitar sounds amazing overall and i was pleased with the amazing tone but more issues came down the road. About a month later, one of the tuners were coming loose too when i changed my strings! I don't know what it could have been because ther screws holding the tuners in place were not loose at all. My overall review is that the guitar sounds like GOLD, i honestly don't see a guitar in the future that will have a clear, warm tone like this one. However, the guitar was poorly manufactured even though it is a USA mad Fender which surprised me. The guitar is ridiculously heavy! which isnt bad in most cases, It makes it great for recording buy might be a back paint over time if you're preforming. Those are really the only flaws... that and the PRICE. In my opinion, it's not worth the price because of the poor manufacturing. However, If you find this guitar for a hundreds of dollars less, then go for it. I do recommend the telecaster over this jazzmaster but if you're willing to use this kind of money on the guitar and not have a problem with fixing it up quite a bit before constant use, then be my guest. GOOD GUITAR, GOOD TONE. HIGH PRICE( unless you find it cheaper used) POOR MANUFACTURING. GUITAR IS GREAT, LAZY MANUFACTURERS.

I love the locking tuners, never goes out of tune. Able to play super low tunings with no fret buzz or any problems like that. Beautiful and fun guitar to play. Now one of my all-time favorite guitars.

His take on the Jazzmaster really only takes after its namesake in shape. Switching from alder to mahogany body material, dual, active humbuckers from EMG, the 81/60 combo is capable of earsplitting high gain tones all the way to creamy leads and even clear, sultry cleans. With only one volume knob, this Jazzmaster is ready to rip, and most definetley is NOT your grandpa's Jazzmaster. The satin black finish evokes mean, evil looks, with the blank fretboard finishing the clean, stripped down look. With locking Fender tuners on an oversized 70s headstock , tuning is stable and steadfast when smashing on those aggressive , ripping metal riffs. 10 out of 10 in my opinion, rapidly becoming my go to workhorse guitar, because this thing has everything a modern metal player could ever want.

Not even close to the quality of Ibanez prestige line...

It is held in place by the very bottom of a guitar and the top of the neck, which can put unnecessary stress on the neck in transport (e.g. when the box is upside down ).Ibanez prestige cases are perfectly suited for the shape of their guitars, so they are held in the centre, blocking them from even the slightest movement (top of the neck is not strained).Telecaster came undamaged, but it makes you worry when you think about your precious guitar standing on its neck ... MoreThe guitar comes in 2 boxes. I have not checked them if they are at the same level, but uneven and sharp edges of the frets on the side of the neck were constantly driving me mad...Neck pickup was angled in the weird manner. Much closer to the thin E string. It might be the setup thing, but I have not seen such thing in my ESP LTD Deluxe EC-1000 or ESP LTD BW-1 both with same/similar EMGs(Indonesian made ESPs, by the way - but they scream much better quality compared to this made in Mexico tely)The guitar had a really high action from the box, and I had a trouble to get a proper intonation with the fat E string (there was not enough space to move the saddle back any more further). Factory strings and E tuning though. But still, worth mentioning.And the last thing... Rattling 9v battery compartment... The battery was just bouncing inside of it... There is no thing to hold it in place... I know, you can just put something around the battery so it doesn't bounce inside of the compartment, but should I really do that!? With the guitar at this price point?!!?Again... both my Indonesian made ESPs mentioned above, had a simple metal thing that holds them in place...Overall, I loved the guitar. It looks sick, plays well and the neck is really comfortable.I just had a hard time to swallow the price I have paid for it...Comparing it to Ibanez Prestige RG652FX-GK Galaxy Black, it just feels like a budged Squier...I liked it... despite all the craftsmanship flaws, I really like it (I may even buy it again at some point).
