This is a great little light! It’s hard to believe you can get so much in such a small package. It disappears in my pocket. The magnet works really well and the clip is handy for a cap or your pocket. I think the balance between flood and throw is just right for an EDC light. The build quality is excellent as usual. I think this is my fifth Fenix light. It’s hard to come up with much negative. The color is a little weird (greenish) and the UI could be better. I really like the Thrunite T1S for example as you can get to the firefly/moonlight mode regardless of where you were last and you don’t have to cycle through the turbo to get back to the lower lumens. Overall, it’s a great light for its intended purpose.

The Fenix line of flashlights is a new product for me as I have never used one before. The E18R is a very compact unit, very easy to carry and convenient. The multi-level brightness allows you to choose what level of light you need in a given situation. The sensitivity of the on switch does take some getting used to. The switch is easy to accidently turn on while in a pocket. The light witch has the ability to lock with a quick double push of the switch, with the same to unlock. This does work but it has to be a quick double push, and I have had the light turn on accidently even in this mode. Overall, it is an excellent light and with a little practice and manipulation, it is easy to use, and the magnetic endcap is very effective.

First, about the seller: Fenix-Store
7 July 2022

First, about the seller: Fenix-Store is, without question, the best seller of Fenix lights. Their service has always been exceptional. The E18 has been very disappointing to me. The advertised turbo level of 1200 lumen is a joke. That 1200 lumen level lasts less than 5 minutes before the light starts to rapidly ramp down. Within less than 8 minutes its down to about 700 lumen (There is a line graph that demonstrates how fast the E18 ramps down in the manual but I didn't see that graph until the E18 arrived. You'll notice that Fenix doesn't include that line graph in their promotional brochure). The light has turned on in my pocket 3 times in 3 weeks in spite of being "locked". The 2-way clip is great and I guess I could use the clip to cover the button so the E18 ... MoreFirst, about the seller: Fenix-Store is, without question, the best seller of Fenix lights. The 2-way clip is great and I guess I could use the clip to cover the button so the E18 doesn't turn on in my pocket but that is a nuisance. I like the battery status light. I'll keep the E18 but the fact that it only delivers 1200 lumen for such a short time coupled with the problem of turning on in my pocket will keep me from using E18 as my EDC. I'll go back to carrying my old reliable E15. Someday Fenix will fix the "Lock" problem. Don't be fooled by the "1200 lumen for 30 minutes" misrepresentation as I was. It's nothing close to 30 minutes. I believe that Fenix-Store should include the line graph from the E18 manual in their promotional data for the E18 so people can make an informed decision about the capabilities of that light. I will do more research before I purchase another Fenix light. Again, let me say that Fenix-Store is a great seller. They allowed me to modify my review of the E18 and their return poilicy would have allowed me to return the light had that been my desire.

Good Light - BUT!!!
13 December 2022

I am NOT a first time buyer. I used to have a E15 which i miss dearly(please bring it back). I bought the E18R as it is the same size as a replacement. The size is what i need as sometimes i need a third hand and i can hold the light comfortably in my mouth and also need it to be readly available. If your looking to buy this as a pocket flashlight please look elsewhere. Light will turn on in pocket(I miss the twist on/off). Also if you have keys in pocket the magnet will lock on to your keys and you will spend more time picking it up off the floor and/or turning it off. This is however a awsome flashlight for a hat if camping as a example. I personally could do with out the strob light has i spend more time trying to shut it off then what its worth however i can see ... MoreI am NOT a first time buyer. Also want to add i normaly dont write reviews but for the price i paid for this light i am very disappointed and would like to help others who would use it as a pocket flashlight be aware of the headaches ive run into with this light.

I'm an owner of the Olight Baton3 which is my first purchase into a higher end flashlight. I do enjoy and love my Baton3 still but I also have purchased a Fenix head lamp that is super awesome! I was looking for Fenix to provide me with a Baton3 alternative and they absolutely hit it out of the park with this E18R v2! No flashlight is perfect by no means (that includes my Baton3), but this v2 is what Fenix needed to help bring me on board to replace my edc Baton3! It has magnetic tale cap, same form factor, and same UI, but this has the ability to charge battery through a typeC charger, purchase extra batteries and also use a standard CR123A (with a slight downgrade in performance). I know there's similar lights other than Olight that compete in this category that are up to $30 cheaper but they lacked in several things that were important to me especially quality!!! My only gripe is that the clip needs to be less tight with a bit more clearance for jeans/pocket, other than that GREAT JOB FENIX! I just received my flashlight today and placed an order for another one!!! Need to get those ARB-L-700UP batteries back in stock though! Thanks again guys!

Love it! A great little EDC flashlight
4 October 2023

The perfect flashlight for people that want a "real" flashlight (i.e. not their phone flashlight) but don't want something big. This thing is so small that I forget it's in my pocket! Its high modes are quite powerful. Moonlight mode is basically a must for me so this is one of the few Fenix lights that checks that box. I really hope they'll add moonlight mode in more of their V2s. The only downsides for this light for me are battery life (still great in moonlight and low, but what do you expect with a 16340 battery?) and I don't love that strobe comes on with a slightly longer press than what you press to turn the flashlight on.All and all a pretty great little flashlight and honestly probably plenty for most people that aren't frequently in situations where they ... MoreThe perfect flashlight for people that want a "real" flashlight (i.e. not their phone flashlight) but don't want something big. Not quite as good as the original
24 January 2023

Got this to replace my lost E18R original. Not bad, but more expensive, slightly larger, and what seems like a wider beam -- I prefer a tighter beam myself. The v2.0 definitely seems to have changed to a more blue-green "cooler" tint to the light than the v1.0.Also, I miss the magnetic recharging port on the v1.0, now replaced with a USB-C port for charging, although I can see how some would prefer the non-proprietary cable option. The lowest setting is now somewhat dimmer, which has both positives and drawbacks. Certainly it lasts longer, but definitely a big reduction in brightness. The button is now harder to feel as well, with less distinction compared to the body of the light, so its difficult to turn on without looking for the button visually. If I could ... MoreGot this to replace my lost E18R original. Overall I feel this light
24 July 2022

Overall I feel this light is a useful EDC light with several very useful features & lacking a couple features I would like to see. I like the battery level indicator led in the main control switch. Magnetic tail cap is great. 1200 lumen Turbo mode is a great option when needed as is the 1200 lumen strobe mode. The control switch lockout option assures the light isn’t activated unintentionally while in my pocket. However, I find it more convenient to just loosen/back off the battery cap ~1/8 turn. Now for my wish list to make this an even better EDC light. The memory mode of this light turns the light on to the power level the light was last used prior to being turned off. However if the light is shut down in Turbo mode (1200 lumen) the light will come on in high ... MoreOverall I feel this light is a useful EDC light with several very useful features & lacking a couple features I would like to see. However if the light is shut down in Turbo mode (1200 lumen) the light will come on in high mode (350 lumen). Not good! That’s over 3x less than full power! Not effective for emergencies or possible tactical uses. Light then requires another bump of the switch to jump to Turbo mode. I like the easy direct access to the strobe mode (hold down the switch) but wish turbo mode was just as accessible. Also, the 5 power levels could be better. 1 lumen, 30, 150, 350 & 1200 are the 5 lumen levels. I love the moonlight low mode, but I feel the gap between 350 high & 1200 Turbo is too much. I can’t find any specs on this light using CR123 primary lithium batteries, not sure why, but this info should be easily obtainable but I can’t find it. Still, this is a nice little light….

I kept mine but returned the other as the side button issue really is an issue! It took me a while to figure out the lock out procedure and once I did (or thought I did) the light turned on in my pocket. While there are work arounds (i’m using the bracket to cover the button) for the price of this light there should not be a need for a “work around.” However, the main issue is the fact that you cannot easily find the side button in the dark.
