I’m always giving Fenix flashlights away as gifts. For this price point, I bought 2. I’m keeping both ;-)PROS:• Almost rivals the venerable TK22 for distance• Operation of On/Off and all 3 settings from the tail-switch is soooo simple. No-look, one-handed… LOVE that feature.• Glove friendly operation.• 3 settings are perfect (1) for reading/paperwork and close-up work (2) for walking, looking for lost things, and (3) for searching outside of buildings and defense/offense. No wasted settings to click past. All 3 have their specific use.• Small enough to carry as a backup light in a pocket or backpack. A truly small light with big performance.• Silent no-click tail switch (true tactical use)CON• this is a nit-pick, but it takes some getting use to the ... This light is MORE than adequate for a tactical light.I’m loaning one to my teenage grandson for a ski trip. A few CR123A batteries in his bags and he’s set for a cold weather trip. If he loses it, I’m not out $100+.As soon as my wife forgets I ordered 2, I’m getting another one! Shhhhh!!

I've been using the PD35v3 for several months now and no surprise, Fenix hit it out of the park (again).Packaging was informative, came with all the standard/desired accessories, and easy to get it up and running.Rechargeable battery is a huge plus.Quality body and fantastic output.Doesn't take too much space up in a pocket for EDC, yet can be easily scaled up for emergencies without feeling like it's an inadequate amount of lumen/candela.No cons as of yet...honestly, I usually try to nitpick, but I can't find anything that needs changing. I guess the included flashlight pouch could be improved for better mounting on a normal belt, but most of us who buy lights end up carrying them in pockets, backpacks, or stashing them in nightstands.Overall an excellent ... Up front, I bought this one used, but I have over a half dozen other Fenix flashlights from the Fenix-Store. This flashlight is beautiful from the new body machining and heat sinks to the ring around the side button. What really impressed me was the beam pattern. It has a very defined hot spot and defined edged spill circle. When I read about the de-convex lens and smaller caliber reflector I had no idea what they meant. Well the internal concave lens and the reflector really work to produce the sharp-edged beam pattern I described. This light even "feels good in the hand ". It's not quite a firefly but a 5 lumen eco level is very useful. I just love this flashlight.

A few months ago I almost lost my Streamlight Protac HL 3, which I have been using since 2014.I bought this as a backup, though I think that I will make it my primary. The ability to use rechargeable batteries OR the CR123 batteries (that I already use) as a backup, was a big draw for me. The different modes and brightness levels, including an eco mode (that lasts forever), are great. The specs seem to show better battery life all around versus my old flashlight. This one is smaller, seems to have the capability of throwing out more light, and though it is fairly small and lightweight, it still feels very solid. The only thing I didn't like was Micro USB type B instead of USB-C, but that looks like the design spec of the 18650 batteries that have a charge port ... If I need another flashlight in the future, I will definitely check out Fenix's latest offerings.
Well its been one year since I purchased this light. So here are my honest thoughts. I love it! I use it almost every day and it has never let me down. I know that this is mainly due to the care taken in the both the design and the build quality of this light that has contributed to this statement. I am not going to go into all the capabilities of this light because that info is supplied on this site. I have also found that info very accurate from my own measurements and statements from other reviews.. I now own six Fenix lights and I can honestly say that I have never had a problem nor is there any feature that I would change in any of these lights. Of course this is just my opinion and I know there are people reading this review who own this light and do not agree with my review but everybody is different and allowed to their own opinions of what they like and dislike. Yes, I have visited other manufactures and looked at what they had to offer before I make my final decision. If some items look good, I will research them further and do my final comparisons. So that is about it, I love this light and the other Fexix lights that I own and since I started using Fenix products, I have purchased my last six lights only from Fenix, which covers about the last eight or nine years in time and that list includes both head lamps and flashlights.
I am a huge advocate for Fenix lights. I have bought several over the years. While my old E35UE from 10 years ago is still running strong, i wanted to give it to my daughter and get a similar sized replacement with greater range. This is the one! It has long life at low setting, and piercing brightness on high settings. It is shorter than predecessors as well, making it even easier to edc. The spot is well defined and there is a decent fill from the lesser outer cone. All the usual battlefield standards of Fenix, with special attention on longer throw. The clip is strong and the strobe is handy for self defence if needed (we can’t carry much in Canada to defend ourselves so this is special). Nobody could handle a dose of that 1700lm strobe. I have 3 PD35 flashlights. 1 of them I run on a rifle with a pressure switch. BRIGHT! Illuminates a target like daylight at distance. The second light is by the bed at night but goes with me for Duty. The multi variable brightness ability is a plus too. Both are 1000 lumen models. I like bayonet bezel on the front of the light as a defensive measure. Give somebody a bad case of acne if I needed to use it as an impact weapon. Both of those are standard batteries. But this new PD35 V3 1700 lumin model. I'll switch it to the rifle. The batteries are Lithium ion.The battery for the V3 uses a USB port to charge. Awesome. But I can place it in the charger as well and recharge it that way. Versatile charging ability. The brightness at 1700 lumins definitely surpasses the ... The brightness at 1700 lumins definitely surpasses the 1000 lumins on the other 2 lights but that is expected.I would highly recommend these lights to military, LEO or anyone else tactically minded. I use the Fenix red lense with night vision....WOW! There is no hiding. Although Fenix needs to produce an IR lense cover and that would eliminate the the visual signal from the red lense on the user end.Over all I'd give this light a 5 ☆☆☆☆☆ rating.
Lost my long-time reliable PD32 (still searching) and bought one of these as a replacement. We raise chickens and this flashlight (as did the PD32) will get daily use in closing up coops and barn after sunset; and when things go "bump" in the night. Also as a back-up to a Fenix headlamp for hunting (and I also keep a PD30 in my hunting day-pack with Lithium cells). I am very pleased with the controls and light output (low setting is plenty for most up-close tasks), and the useable light between recharges is tremendous. Very happy with the PD35 v3.0, and with all my Fenix lights (five so far).
Much brighter than any other flashlight I've ever owned.I had my name ingraved on it, which turned out nice.Everything functions as described and the flashlight quality appears to be excellent.I am not incredibly impressed with the holster, it's good enough to secure the light but not exceptional in any way. Honestly this was not a factor in my purchase at all and does not impact my review of the product in any way.The function switch is a bit difficult to find; my personal solution for this has been to align the clip point with it, so far this is a totally acceptable workaround. (If I were to suggest an improvement along the lines of my solution, it would be to create a way to securely index the clip in order to ease locating the function switch).Overall, this ... My previous light was powered by 3 AAA batteries and was not nearly as bright and was not very long lasting. My main desires were to purchase a quality light that would have a few hours of run time and clearly illuminate the property at a distance of about 100 meters or so. I also wanted an 18650 powered light as I also use them in other electronic devices I already own (unfortunately I own flat top 18650 batteries and they do not function in this light) I will be purchasing a few spares identical to the ones supplied with the flashlight to rotate through.I am very satisfied with my purchase, while I am in no way capable of validating the lumen claims I am impressed with the light output more than a little, and could not be more happy with just how nice the device works.
This little light is the best combination of size, price, and function. The beam design creates a much higher intensity center spot than any of its peers with the same LED and battery, making it extremely useful for outdoor and distance use. I also love the set levels, and that it remembers what level I left it on and separates the mode button from the on/off button. Mostly I leave it set on 5 lumens or 50 lumens for when I just need to grab a flashlight for basic use - battery would last forever if that’s all I used. I can always crank it up for more power as needed.I think it would be nice if it came with a higher capacity battery (and maybe USB-C charging), but I’ve had it several weeks now and still haven’t had to recharge it yet.
