Best sander I ever had. Got the RO 90 and the 150. The speed it takes paint off is unbelievable and with no noticeable dust when connected to the extractor. Nothing compares

I thought carefully before buying the Festool 90 Sander partly due to its price and would it add to my woodworking enjoyment. I also watched many online videos and made comparisons with other makes of sanders.Having used it over the last few weeks i can confirm that I am really pleased with my investment. I use Rubin 2 paper and that works for the type of small projects that i produce at home. The Festool 90 does save time and produces good results. I can highly recommend. I buy all my main tools from Axminster Tools as I like the level of service they provide.

I initially bought this as I was after a small delta sander for preparing varnish on awkward areas on yachts. The delta function works very well, as does the random orbital sanding. Dust extraction is good, the machine is lightweight and easy to hold - even for extended periods overhead. The only real downside that I've come across so far, is the price of the abrasives.

Having had a TS55 plunge saw, I knew the Festool brand wasn't cheap, but I knew that I'd be getting a quality product.I opted for the smallest in the range as I had a 3 bedroom 1930s semi house to renovate, so a fair few doors and skirting. The detail delta add on would be my friend here. The sander just ran and ran, even after an hour of constant use, I switched off and my hand wasn't buzzing with the usual feeling of using a cheaper device. The isolation this provides is brilliant.I hooked it up to a Henry vacuum, as funds didn't allow for an extraction unit at this time, dust collection is very very good. I sanded a plaster wall (yes with a 90mm head it took a while) and didn't use any dust mask. I didn't find half the wall up my nose after I finished. It's ... MoreHaving had a TS55 plunge saw, I knew the Festool brand wasn't cheap, but I knew that I'd be getting a quality product.I opted for the smallest in the range as I had a 3 bedroom 1930s semi house to renovate, so a fair few doors and skirting. Used without hearing defenders.I do think perhaps it's a bit overkill for my skills as a DIYer however a better quality tool helps you do a better quality job, and the fact my hands didn't carry on buzzing for 3 weeks afterwards means it's just so much more pleasant to use.I'm happy with my purchase, however not sure the wife will be when she finds out!
The sander works well in coarse sanding mode but not in fine sanding. The pad doesn’t orbit on fine sanding mode which according to festool should. It was faulty from new, I didn’t réalise straight away and when I contacted festool they offered to service it. I was asking for a replacement as it was new and not cheap. Other than that it’s okay.
This is a real game changer when it comes to sanding doors & windows. I recon its about 3 times quicker than my palm sander, & I get a better finish. Although it's expensive, if you are doing doors & windows professionally it's totally worth it, maybe even for a DIYer with lots to do & who values their time. My only gripe, apart from the price, is that there's a tendency to get a build-up of dust under the sanding pad, but that may be down to my Bosch extractor. The pads are so quick & easy to remove/change it's not such a big deal.
I absolutely love this sander I wish I had bought one sooner its a real game changer for my furniture upcycling business. If you are thinking about it just do it you won't regret it. It's a lot of money but definitely worth it.
Usual high Festool build quality. On a personal level, I found the Festool Vac hose very tight and you fear that you may break the connector when attaching/detaching the hose. Maybe it will bed-in with more use. It is an awkward tool to hold properly; a combination of the long body and the small sanding surface. I saw a tip on the Festool Youtube channel where you wrap your fingers/hand around the mains and vac connectors at the back of the machine for greater balance/control. It works. It is a very good sander. Dust is reasonably well controlled. It does leave some on the surface that needs to be wiped down with a microfibre cloth, so it's probably not in the same league as the bigger Rotex sanders. It comes with two sheets of paper (one delta; one round). I have a lot of louvre shutters to sand down - this is the only tool for the job in my opinion, especially with the LSS-STF extender, which is the only sensible way of sanding the louvres. In 'eccentric mode', it takes off everything in its path, switch to 'circular mode' to clean up odd spots, add the edge guard to do the rebates and then go to delta for the fiddly bits. Smooth, tireless and pretty much dust free when used with CTL 26 or other Festool extractor, although I reckon Henry would do the job if necessary. I know that there are those who think 'Festool fan boy' when they see reviews like this. They are wrong, even if you charge yourself out at minimum wage this kind of gear pays you back PDQ. Just order plenty of pads and get on with it!
I’ve been after an RO90 for…years…and now it’s here and in use…flipping brilliant. It has sped through jobs with ease and the usual setup with festool dust extraction means minimal dust and mess. No more excuses to put off tedious woodwork maintenance tasks now!
